Well like the guys in workaholics are a good example, the characters are supposed to portray quirky but undesirable office drones having a good time together, yet when you see them with their clothes off they're ripped male models. This is pretty much the same thing as the girl who's portrayed as an ugly duckling that let's her hair down and is suddenly a bombshell (a trope that people write and complain about frequently).

According to the cdc the 2012 BRFSS reported that:
"33.7% (33.5%) of men and 36.5% (36.1%) of women were obese."

as in roughly 3% more women than men are obese as of 2012, accounting for the difference in height and build. Fat acceptance in modern times is largely a movement that targets women (for good reason, women are largely the target of disparaging views related to body image). I don't really have a point here, I'm not trying to say guys have it worse than girls or anything, I just think that common knowledge has fallen a bit behind the actual stats in terms of sexual objectification in culture and media. As the years go by the gap between genders in stuff like eating disorders is shrinking and not necessarily in a good way.
