You lose out on the eye candy and sometimes have to suffer through interminable prose to describe the action and setting, but the trade-off is that you get really imaginative and interesting ideas with depth you'll never see in visual media no matter how much money and time the production has.

lmao this is so much funnier than porn because you know this actress was actually really excited when she got this job and told her parents she was going to be on tv. But then she gets to the first day of work and they tell her a giant squirting penis is going to brush gently against her face numerous times in a nude shower scene.

The original films guest star Tim Curry, Rutger Hauer and Malcolm McDowell in that order. It's basically the pantheon of limited field nerd demigods right there.

But then she gets to the first day of work and they tell her a giant squirting penis is going to brush gently against her face numerous times in a nude shower scene. IIRC the character's entire concept is an attempt by the show to have its cake and eat it by making her some failed sex slave clone or some bullshit but she's accidentally infused with genius stuff or magical alien goo or whatever the gently caress and rebels against her expected status in life and now effectively leads the cast of misfits including two horndogs who are always trying to get in her pants in a basic sitcom way and an autistic dead guy she fawns over like a cat because he doesn't give a gently caress about her sexually; now watch her go under the penis shower or "ironically" seduce this dumb male to further the plot . As I said though it rarely comes across as sexy even though the actress is very objectively attractive. I do think the show showed her loving dudes and ladies because she genuinely wanted to at least once or twice and didn't pass judgment on her for having an active healthy sex life which is sadly genuinely progressive for pop media, although in sci-fi being a sexually open female is usually the creator's way of being nominally progressive while he inserts the woman into his attempts at erotic fiction so who knows.

I heard it's actually pretty good as a Star Trek ripoff (concept by Gene Roddenberry himself) for the first season or two where the premise is basically "the last Starship in the Federation is on the run", but Kevin Sorbo apparently didn't get what he was acting in so he insisted they dumb it down for mass appeal and ended up killing the show.

I begrudgingly agree with the OP. I wanted to like it. It was quirky and different, but after watching about 4 hours of it, it was still poo poo. farscape owns, but take a while to hit its stride, and I think there'd be enough room in the Farscape universe for a couple more direct-to-video movies.

a hole-y ghost posted:the dead dont care what u think about lexx op It's funny you should say this, one of the creators, Lex Gigerof, died a couple years ago, after sort of rising up again in popularity in my home town, due to his work with the local film co-op. Everyone would mention how great Lexx was, how this guy was one of the creators behind the awesome show Lexx, how we had a true celebrity among us, and I kept thinking "well, he seems like a super nice guy, but that show sucked". I felt bad for thinking that after he died, but what can you do? Well, not watch Lexx, for one. He did, however, create El Mundo del Lundo, which was some weird comedy about a guy who would overdub old, black and white films. Like MST3K,except full dialogue replacement. I remember it being genuinely funny, and always wanted to ask him about it but never got the chance. RIP Lex (but not LEXX). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lex_Gigeroff

I saw Lexx a few years ago, most of it at least. I am at a complete loss as to what any of it was actually about. A pudgy unlikeable janitor character that was desperate for sex, a robot head that was desperate for sex, and a sex slave that was half worm alien. Also a toilet that literally ate poo poo. It's basically one big bizarre sex and fart joke set in space. Actually come to think of it, that makes Lexx kind of good, huh.

The body-less robothead obssessed with either the half-lizard love slave or the dead guy, the useless security guard that ends up being the pilot of the most destructive weapon in two universes, and the rotating cast of reincarnating idea-characters. Its a bad show if you want action-story. Its a great one for satire and human condition taunting.

Lexx is the only scifi TV series I have ever found watchable, at least for seasons 1-2 (and 3ish when I got desperate). I just wanted to see horny unlikable idiots steal the keys to the Death Star and fly around the universe having wacky adventures.

I liked Lexx only because it had Eva Habermann, who was just so adorable and sweet and genuine and yet OH GOD I WANT TO gently caress THIS GIRL, she really nailed the poo poo out of that.
