iirc China is the one mostly trying to exploit Afghanistans mineral wealth because Western companies thought the area was too unstable and unsafe to get it out of the ground and use it. as NATO pulls out it's just going to get even more difficult for China there especially considering their treatment of the muslims within China there's a slew of other unstable countries China is trying to extract resources from that aren't quite going according to plan
