Re halalchat: my favourite yoghurt brand has been halal certified for ages. Shockingly, all it functionally means is that they don't have alcohol or pig bits in there and have someone checking that they don't put it in. When I'm eating out I like it when the food is labelled as halal because it means 1) there are likely to be fewer racist dickweeds involved in food preparation and 2) places with halal certification tend to take it seriously when you ask about animal products or gluten in their food. I've never had a halal-certified place bring me out a pumpkin soup with a big slab of bacon on top or a salad with shredded chicken bits and croutons and try to pass it of as "just garnish" (and then try picking it out of my food with their hands and think that makes it all right).

Some of the clients were making bandanas, banners, necklaces, etc for protests/general solidarity and the history of Musgrave Park and the Boundary Streets (and everything else) is a subject of much passion for a lot of the clients.
