drat I wish I had some say in how this whole thing plays out for me and my family.
I know it seems meaningless but I'm apparently powerless in the struggle towards bettering my future and failed in the one aspect I can change.

Your vote in particular is meaningless. Yet politicians that disagree with you specifically keep getting elected in your district. It's weird.

We need a president who promises to violently purge our nation of non-voters if elected. That will get folks to the polls.

Say I want a more socialistic government and neither D or R are running on a platform I support. If I had to choose between them I'd go D, but neither actually represents my political interests. Who if anyone should I vote for and how will it bring me any closer to the style of government I want?

Yes...Ha ha ha...YES!

there is no point in voting democrat if you are a liberal because it will only encourage the democrats to keep being not liberal, and thanks to how politics are run and advertised there are no third parties that actually have a legitimate chance to gain any sort of power in a meaningful way. so why bother voting.

The choice is quite clear.
Sit at home and do nothing.
Do not, under any circumstances, go out and vote for the party that most represents your needs.
They are, obviously, not the party that you want. So the objective ideal is that you waive your right to vote for something that might even nudge the needle even an iota in your favor.
Inaction here is KEY in making your political choice felt.
