Very unpopular governor here got re-elected 50 to 49% on the back of our state being red as hell. If only there was some political system most of the rest of the world used that was able to apportion power based on actual ratio of support instead of a binary win/loss total..

Your argument for not voting Democrat is: "Voting Democrat will just swing them more Republican; so it's better to NOT vote Democrat and let the Republicans win to prove a point that America want's more liberal 'D's on the ballot." You're a loving idiot, my friend.

Family friend is going to have to "get out" of the state now and "move back to Alaska where her son used to be stationed" because "even a state Redder than Kansas" actually provides "healthcare for people with 25% lung function and one good eye" so she can "live out her final years in good health but completely isolated from any of her family or friends". But one of the parties has successfully turned every election into some kind of extreme referendum on abortion or gays or mexicans, all issues that literally cannot be legislated on and can only be very slowly changed by electing a president and hoping some justices kick but it prevents people from electing non-fuckups into office if they don't hold the right religous views.
