I've never played the Atomic Robo RPG but anything that lets me play an Isaac Clarke knockoff (only far more comical, given the setting) has my vote. How long does this take to learn?

Everything's done, barring some revisions!

pre:
Arthur 'Artie' Douglas, Sole Survivor of Factory 7

Aspects And Modes:
  • Concept: Mad Artie, Professional Repairman
  • APPROACH (+3): Old Reliable
  • Science (+2): Genius Is The Other Half Of Madness*
  • Survival (+1): Escaped Sacrifice
  • Omega: Every Day is a Bad Day
APPROACH:
  • Skills (8 Points): Athletics, Combat, Notice, Physique, Science (Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering), Vehicles
Survial:
  • Skills (7 Points): Athletics, Contacts, Notice, Physique, Rapport, Will
Skills: Athletics +4, Combat +5, Contacts +1, Electrical Engineering +4, Electronic Engineering +4, Mechanical Engineering +5, Notice +5, Physique +5, Rapport +1, Occult Sciences +4, Other Sciences +2, Vehicles +3, Will +4 Stress: Physical: O O O O Mental: O O O Stunts:
  • Signature Aspect: Genius Is The Other Half Of Madness
  • I've Got A Job To Do: Once per scene, you may check a physical stress box to absorb mental harm.
  • Mad Artie's Custom 'Bolt-Action' Rivet Gun: +1 To create an advantage with Combat when using it to immobilize or hinder a target. Weapon:2
  • Old-School Retro-Fitting: With enough ingenuity, and handy access to spare parts, you can adapt any piece of hardware for any situation. Replace one (and only one) of a hardware's stunts or mega-stunts with another of your choosing. If this adds more stunt benefits than it had before you messed with it, each additional one costs a fate point. The new stunt or mega-stunt lasts until the end of the issue, then vanishes.
  • Mega Hardware: Applied Powered Repair Operations and Adaptive Carapace for Handymen (APPROACH)
    • Function: Adaptive Powered Hazard Suit
    • Flaw: Held Together With Duct Tape And Prayer
    • Hazard Grade Powered Servos: +2 to overcome or create an advantage using Physique, Armor:2
    • Kinetic Modules: You can attack using Mechanical Engineering to fire a concussive blast of weaponized kinetic force, but at a cost. You also gain a +1 to overcome with Mechanical Engineering when using Kinetic Modules would allow you to move otherwise impossibly heavy equipment.
    • They Don't Make Them Like That Anymore: Absolutely more durable than a normal human BUT slow and bulky. (-1 to overcome or defend with Athletics)
CONSEQUENCES:
  • Mild (-2):
  • Moderate (-4):
  • Severe (-6):
Twenty-five years ago, before Things Had Changed, Arthur Douglas graduated from a little-known college with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Considered a brilliant mind, he was definitely a top 'sleeper choice' for many of the more important tech firms of the day. Including the ever-popular Well-Means Tech Firm, specializing in on-site repairs, custom equipment, and rapid response. Picking up Arthur immediately after he left college, and put him on as a 'Junior Handyman', their own version of on-site troubleshooters.

For several years after that, Arthur enjoyed a life of prosperity and decent living. He was given constant commendations and promotions for his ingenious solutions on-site, and his commitment to always finishing a job that he had started. His design for better tools for the handymen eventually made their way to R&D, who designed the basic power-pack and jumpsuit that would constitute the basic Applied Powered Repair Operations and Adaptive Carapace for Handymen, commonly referred to as the APPROACH or the Appro-Suit.

Of course it had to go wrong somehow.

Five years ago, it seemed like an ordinary job. A large well-known group needed help with some civilian equipment that hadn't been functioning properly. Arthur got sent in alongside a team to help them with a solution, but once he got there, Well-Means lost contact with them.

For seven days.

It turns out that the group that had asked for repairs were a cult looking for the best and brightest to sacrifice in a gamble to obtain a sort of necromantic immortality, complete with a few "test runs" of cultists that had gone in early, believing themselves to be smart enough. They weren't, and neither were the many that had already been sacrificed to appease whatever machinations the cultists had thought of.

For seven days, Arthur was trapped in a massive factory complex with nothing but his wits and the Appro-Suit to survive mental and physical horrors from the magic rituals and bastardized factory functions. For seven days, Arthur survived, battling mental horrors and the reanimated at every turn, adapting the APPROACH every step of the way, fusing metal bars to the shoulders and abdomen, armoring it for battle, overcharging the servos, and eventually cobbling together a kinetic force system from grav-lift parts. He fought through day by day until he came to the cult leader and managed to turn the horrors of the ritual back on them in spectacular fashion, managing to be the sole survivor of what would become known on Well-Means record-books as the Factory 7 Job.

Returning to his job, Arthur was a changed man. One who looked all the more like a man who had seen horrors that no one ever should. He was given a promotion to Senior Specialist Handyman to keep quiet about Factory 7, and was kept on to deal with "specialist" jobs. He became known as Mad Artie, and there wasn't a job he wouldn't take - often to the detriment of his mental health. He got involved with numerous cults, often by accident, and some would seek him out for his noted ability to survive and engineer a solution. This continued for a couple years, until Well-Means went under and Arthur was out of a job.

But the jobs kept calling to him, and Mad Artie didn't get his reputation for turning them down. Peddling his expertise as a freelance repairman, Mad Artie's reputation spread to the street, a man who took a job no matter what. He became a bit of a hot commodity to recruit in the scene, as someone who could deal with cultists was an asset, double so if they were equipped to deal with it. While some people tended to give Arthur criticism for his old, outmoded, tank-like APPROACH, he simply shrugged them off. If it still worked, it still worked, and Arthur's skills meant that it could still function well - even if it had endured quite a bit of wear and tear already.

Of course, this led to him being sought out by Miskatonic, Inc. Having researched into the apparent underground cult-fighting Well-Means had been doing in the past, they were able to acquire the design notes for the APPROACH and track down the person who first put forward the idea - Arthur. Putting forward a job offer to cult-bust with the best of them, Arthur accepted - after all, he was an old hand in that.

Nowadays, Misktaonic treats Arthur with rather respectable distance - he's still pretty crazy, but he's a crazy they could work with - and sent out on missions as what amounts to a walking, talking tank, while the other researches uses rituals and lightning guns and who knows what else, Arthur makes due as he always has.

Ain't much that can stop a big bulky sonuvabitch with a rivet gun.

Hope you guys like grumpy, grizzled cultist veteran! Cause that's what you're getting with Artie.

With a side of cult-induced madness, of course.

Yeah, the younger kids are all ones who took this path by choice, while Jeb and Artie are well. "Survivors" in a sense. Jeb didn't choose to become what he is, and Artie only became this way by choice and then just kept rolling with it because hey, a job's a job.

I'm cashing in both Minor Milestones for Arthur but don't have the book on hand. Let me know if this is all correct!

1st Change: APPROACH Aspect Change - Old Reliable -> A Man-Shaped Tank From A Bygone Era.

2nd Change: I believe I can use one point to reinforce a skill and give it +1, Arthur being thrust into the limelight has mean he's had to pick up his Rapport, increasing it from +1 to +2
