MadTV at its best was better and more subversive than SNL ever could be. Bullshit that the latter is the one considered a comedy "institution".

"at its best" means like one and a half sketches, at most.

Yeah I mean SNL sucks a big one but after like a decade you still end up with a good hour-long highlight reel. MAD TV's "Best of" would struggle to fill 20 minutes.

Don't get me wrong. Both shows were/are pretty bad. Especially since I'm not 14 anymore.

But chances are an SNL douche alum is more likely to instinctively piss me off than any of MadTV's. It probably helps that Lorne Michaels isn't forcing annoying MAD alumni on everyone.

I liked MAD until they put out a spoof called "Jur-rear end-Has-Had-It Park." That was so stupid I quit reading MAD.

Will Sasso has pretty funny vines. Like he's literally one of the few people to actually make those funny.

I'll argue Frank Caliendo is best when he did his Gruden impersonation right to his face. The awkward pauses he did sealed it.

I think there was talent there, but I think they were kind of hamstrung in a lot of ways. Patton Oswalt was a writer during the first season, for example.
