Every warm thing on the menu comes premade on a supply truck once a week and is microwaved when you order it. Their soups come in powder form in large plastic bags. Their bread is baked there, though. Like Subway, the dough comes frozen from their contracted commercial food supplier and is quick-baked on site in their special ovens. Panera is like crossing Applebee's and Subway and squeezing the result into a twelve-hundred calorie soup n' cream slurry in front of a fat middle aged white woman who thinks she's on a diet.

Panera's corporate hq has all their bread/pastry products brought in daily and the office people fall on them like vultures. If you go to the cafeteria at like 10am all you will find is a wasteland of crumbs and a single half bagel. What I saw most often though for lunch was jimmy johns delivered to the building. Take of that what you will.

Panera's corporate culture consists of doing everything the Panera Way and worshiping Mother Bread. Every cubicle has to have the person's name on it along with their favorite panera menu item. The real panera C level big shots are based out of Boston in a luxurious office building while the day to day corporate toilers are stacked in four stories of overcrowded cubicle hell in St. Louis.
