The 60s-70s muscle cars are loving cool and you're a fool if you don't want a loving '68 yellow Camaro with black stripes. Otherwise I agree, unless you're just a collector. Also gently caress anything without power steering as a general rule.

Had a 91 bmw 525 with 88,000 miles when i got it and it was awesome. Had no shakes rattles or noises at all, cruised at 90 comfortably like it was 40, and handled so good. Like i could feel where all the wheels were at all times without it feeling rigid or go-karty. Of course it turned out the PO slightly neglected it and i had to redo a terrible valve cover gasket job and get new brakes, a water pump and a bunch of small things but it was worth it. Had it tinted and new exhaust and it looked great. I miss that car. Now a japanese college student drives it to vermont and back and she loves it. And now im a bum and may never have a car again. But you are off the mark op, 85 to 03 was the golden years for german luxury sedans.

Here's some pros and cons 4 your consideration GBS Old cars: * Cool Aesthetics * Minimalist E-Bay so you can see how your car works and work on your car * Drive in fun and interesting ways because a lot of stuff was still being figured out New cars: * Can look cool, often look really boring because hard edges (especially in the front) are a safety hazard, and big flat grills are not aerodynamic * As a rule new cars are much more powerful, faster, and well made. If you don't believe this you're wrong. You can smoke the nicest production pony car in the world from 1960 with a relatively cheap modern car. * Engine bay and undercarriage is filled with bullshit plastic covers that make things difficult to maintain, electronic control units that often need a specialized tool, and all other manner of bullshit to try to force you to either buy a new one or only get it repaired at a company licensed mechanic * Generally safer and more efficient, even when more powerful (See challenger SRT)

It is 100% possible to take the panels and frame of an old awesome car and turn it into either a preposterous 800 horsepower beast, or just a nice car with a modern powertrain and suspension, tubeframe chassis if necessary, but this is stupid for three reasons Reason 1 is you lose the properties of the car that make it interesting, such as the weirdness of some old engines, their unique sounds, and the feel of the car Reason 2 is you're hacking up a classic, this isn't a big deal if they made a huge amount of the car but it's bad if the car is rare and was in repairable condition Reason 3 is yes, it's expensive as poo poo

They just gussied up the car for the video, just like back in the day when the news strapped explosives to Chevy trucks (I think) to have footage of them exploding like a Michael Bay film in a T-bone collision because that's where the gas tanks were for ratings.
