This is King's MO, he's a great ideas guy, okay at the 2/3 mark, and totally fumbles endings.

At least for his novels... his novellas and short stories are fantastic, but the majority of his novels at this point are bad.

Drug and booze addict Stephen King was the best, but he'd be dead by now.

I always feel like a lot of Stephen King's appeal is his writing style and interesting punctuation and insight into character's minds/heads. Some works more so than others of course, but I feel like the Stand definitely has that going on.

Very difficult to translate to a film/TV medium imo and I hope the director is up to it because usually what happens is the movie is not great.

He's really built for short story and serials writing but there's way more money in paperback fiction and that cocaine isn't going to snort itself

He also got so bad while writing it that his drug addled brain decided that he must be dying, possibly because he had a bunch of q-tips stuffed up his nose to stop the bleeding, so it was a pseudo final novel.

He included a reference to IT just to clarify that he (IT) wasn't dead.

THAT dude was cool as gently caress, now we have "Joyland", "Duma's Key", "Lisey's Story" Stephen King who does collaborations (i.e. promo jobs) with his talentless son.

The Dark Tower series had an actual good ending. Some of his modern stuff had decent endings compared to his older stuff.
