The goonerotica thread was awesome, and it's a shame it got shut down. It got a little creepy towards the end, and there were always a few pseduo-Ayn Rand "I AM THE PRODUCER" type people making GBS threads it up, but it was a great resource and a fun way to make a little extra cash. I wrote two shorts a week for about six months a couple years ago, and at peak I made about $300 a month - which isn't exactly "change your life" money, but it was nice to be able to make extra payments on my credit cards or take my wife out to a nice dinner with smutbux. The really cool thing is I haven't written a single story on either of my pennames in over a year and I'm still pulling down $50-$100 a month off the few stories that became popular in their weird subgenres. Basically it wasn't a pyramid scheme (the only money I ever put into the "business" was the $3 I'd spend on a stock photo to use as a cover) but it's definitely not a way to get super-rich either. There was that one writer (Delilah something) who wrote a 50 Shades knock off that blew up and really DID make tens of thousands of dollars a month, but most people who tell you they're making big bucks writing erotica are fronting. If it's literally all you do and you churn out a whole bunch of material you could make a lower-middle-class lifestyle out of it, but unless you get really lucky you're going to get buried in the thousands of other people who do the same thing. It's a good way to practice the basics of writing and plotting stories, though.

So I linked this thread to my wife while at work. 30 minutes later she's contacted a friend who does voice for audio books. I get off work and a bottle of Jamison and a few beers later we have pages of bullet points of story line to build upon and a voice guy practicing his best Fister Mantastic God of Porn Speak voice. Should I encourage this behavior?
