Soluni, Tactical Marine of the Raptors

Soluni's head accompanies the Black Templar stomping out of the room without saying anything, before turning back to the diplomat and the squad, actually taking her helmet off and speaking without the vox. "That was a shameful behavior and an overreaction if I ever saw one." She tried to think of a situation where a fellow Raptor would do something similar but couldn't. "A powerful warrior such as he cannot control his tempers, it will bring trouble in the future. Before you potentially judge us all at this incident Lord Castillon, keep in mind that the Black Templar had terrible experiences in past missions, as I understand. He's also the only of his chapter present in our squad, so do not worry about similar behavior from the rest of us."

Apollis Heinguard, Fourth Heir of the Heinguard Line (Title Forfeited Upon Induction Into the Blood Ravens)

As the blow lands upon Apollis he stands still and gives no reaction at first. He lets the hate and idiocy spill forth from the mouth of the forge master, before half-way through changing his facial expressions from that of stoic defiance to saddened pity at his fellow astartes. He has things to say to the marine, and was tempted to interject, but decided not to. Some astartes were just wired wrong and needed to blow off steam like a dim-witted ork. He waits patiently for Raknavalak to leave, and Sister Soluni to speak, before clearing his throat.

"I am sorry you had to see that Lord Castillon. As Sister Soluni indicated, do not judge all of us on his actions. He is but a well of anger, yet more proof that even among astartes flaws exist. As i said, many are no more than children, and to explode like that and storm away is yet more evidence of such behavior." Apollis walks over to a near-by reflective surface and checks his face, noting no damage done other than to his powder.

"I am however gravely concerned that he struck me so, even if a strike that would not wound. I have never been struck by any astartes out of anger, save those who have fallen to Chaos. The Black Templar Chapter is suspect enough with it's numbers far beyond what is codex ascribed; but for their members to be laying hand against brothers, a miniature reenactment of the Horus Heresy if you will, is greatly troubling. Captain Raza, I hope you witnessed that event and took careful note. Any astartes raising violence against another is on the short path to damnation."

Soluni, Tactical Marine of the Raptors

The Raptor clears her throat "...I would also ask that you do not incite him further in the future, Apothecary Apollis. We know by now that he's extremely firm in his beliefs, and that's completely acceptable for one from his chapter. I doubt anything you say to him will change his view of things. Insults, for even the slightest they may be, are not recommendable against one a bit unstable like him. I recommend we focus entirely on the mission instead of rivalries between ourselves."

Apollis bows his head, "your words ring true. I only fear even where my very nature not apparently abhorrent to the marine, that his violent outbursts could ruin our mission. He lacks all subtly and grace, and I could easily see him ruining a well planned ambush by charging out at the enemy screaming mad ravings because an enemy psyker was on the field. Not unlike a Khornate." Apollis strokes his beard in contemplation at his last statement, piecing it together in his head.

Saniosus, Space Shark Devastator

Saniosus has been watching how other Astartes had acted in the presence of the diplomat and wasn't sure what to make of it. It was his understanding there was some sort of discussion about how to approach the situation which had escalated to a challenge.

He would've rather messaged over squad open vox to his brothers but as half of them aren't wearing their helmets or seem to have turned Vox off he has to speak up. Saniosus removes his helmet to make his voice clearer, revealing a scar tattooed face and a mouth full of sharp teeth. "Brothers, We should not do this in-front of the Diplomat as he is unaccustomed to our Ways. When this mission is over I will personally witness your honour duel with the full authority of my chapter. Should this request be unreasonable to you I am willing to duel it over somewhere more appropriate.

Brother-Sergeant Agatone Dak'ir, Kill-Marine
Confrontations within a new Deathwatch Kill-Team were not unknown, infact they were quite common. Discretion in front of non Deathwatch personnel were never a thought, why should they be. That said this would have to be solved before they deployed. "Watch Captain would you be willing to brief the Lord Castillon at length on this team's capabilities and how we will benefit the mission. There are matters of Honour we must see to before we can begin." Hopefully the Watch Captain caught the hint and cleared the corridor so Agatone could do what he had to do. In either Agatone steps to the front of the gathering and turns to the Blood Raven. In the Deathwatch, previous rank is meaningless until it has been earned and though he had not earned his place with the team, he had to exert some lest these two marines spat becomes something more. "Forge-Master Raknavalak and Apothecary Apollis are to be escorted to the armoury where under the guidance of Forge-Master Aerun and myself, they will prepare themselves for the Duel. We will ensure that neither combatant has an undue edge over the other."

"Foolish man-children, that is what you two are. You do not show weakness within our team to outsiders, you do not bicker openly infront of them! Already you have caused this official to doubt us! Do we care whether or not he likes us? Not particularly but we do need him to trust us. If the Lord Castillon does not believe he can confide in any of us during this mission then we will miss out on information that may lead to us recovering the STC without having to debase the Imperium to NEGOTIATING with filthy xenos to acquire an artifact of times past. The STC is all that matters!"

"So you will go to the armory, strip out of your power armour. I will go retrieve Raknavalk and have him meet you there. You will proceed to the dueling chambers where supervised by all of us, you will settle this matter of honour to both of your satisfaction. And then you will undertake penance for the blasphemy both of you have committed. Yes both of you, Apothecary Apollis I heard your passing accusation and by all rights I should be in that chamber with you. You clearly have not fought the foes of the Traitor Legions long enough or you would have never uttered those words."

"Brother Saniosus" Agatone says switching to the Promethean dialec of High-Gothic and repeating himself if needed to be understood. "Please accompany me to retrieve Brother Raknavalak."

"Any objections?"

Read if you object IC

On hearing the first syllable come across the squad vox or uttered openly Brother Sergeant Agatone dismisses the speaker quickly. "Thank you brothers and sisters that will be all. To the Dueling Chambers then!"

Apollis Heinguard, Fourth Heir of the Heinguard Line (Title Forfeited Upon Induction Into the Blood Ravens)

Apollis cranes his head at the two other astartes, "Honor duel? Is this truly how you other astartes waste your time? I have not been involved in a duel for 'honor' since i was sixteen year old bored noble, when even myself as a human realized their pointlessness! Back then they were actions of petty nobles with to much time on their hands. "

The marine shakes his head, "No i will not engage in such a duel. Besides them being pointless, my honor is not that which has been stained. Raknavalak's barbaric and borderline heretical actions are the dishonorable acts and i will not give him the opportunity to vindicate those acts with the chance he may defeat me. Martial displays of 'might makes right' are the domain of orks, not His angels of death. "

Esser-Z
Jun 3, 2012

Lord Castillon watches the display with an overtly blank expression, mind working behind a professional veneer. He sweeps his gaze towards the retreating Rak, but before he can open his mouth your Captain steps forward.

"It is as they say. Even the Astartes feel are prone to stress and frustration. While I would not speak poorly of another Chapter, I can assure you that Raknavalak's actions do not represent the rest of us." She shakes her head. "There will be no honor duel; I will handle the matter of Raknavalak's evident instability."

Then, Castillon breaks in. "As for my part, I meant no offense. It is true, I am far more experienced with the far-too-often cowardly men serving in the Imperial Guard than I am with your great ilk. I should have realized those chosen to join you would not need inspiration." It's obvious that's as close to an apology as he'll get. "But I must express concern, nevertheless. I would not be left short handed by this unfortunate incident I have become unwilling witness towards."

Raza nods. "I had a contigency planned." She gives a command to the closest servant at had, who rushes away. "I have a replacement in mind, one from a far more... stable stock."

Indeed, it seemed that soldier standing by close, for the servant returns almost immediately with a Marine in tow, his Deathwatch black covering all but a little section of Ultramarine blue.

Castillon looks pleased by this development.

Well, fuck. Really?

Sebastian

Sebastian had been a fixture aboard the watch station for some time; as a veteran of the Tyrannic war, his expertise and knowledge in dealing with the threat of the Tyranid was bar none, and since at some point there had been concerns of genestealer cults within the sector at large, the Ultramarine had been called to drill his brothers in dealing with the terrible threat. He had heard word that one of the other chapters, also specializing in a specific brand of rare and horrific xeno, had been stationed upon the satellite with him, but he had not found free time to meet up with them.

Now, however, it seemed he had found his chance. Stepping into the room in gold and blue armor, the first person Sebastian notices is the dark green clad marine toting a melta. It was the Dark Angels who had so much contact with the necron, and the Ultramarine can't help but grin under his helmet. He took pride in his near encyclopedic knowledge of the tyranid threat, so to meet someone with similar knowledge when very few marines took the time to learn the minute details of their foes was exciting.

However, he lets the excitement ebb as he stands to attention, making the sign of the aquila. He removes his helmet, revealing a handsome and untouched face save for a cybernetic eye. "I am Sebastian, Tactical Marine, Ultramarines, 3rd Chapter. I have fought the Tyranid at Ultramar, and it is my great honor to continue my duty in the name of the Emperor against the myriad xenomorphic foes we face." He smiles broadly, bowing slightly before tucking his helmet under his arm. He glances about the room and clears his throat. "Please, forgive me if I seem unprepared, I was not given very much notice and was still in the middle of drills, and have not been briefed. Have I arrived at a good time?"

Soluni, Tactical Marine of the Raptors

It isn't a surprise that Rak wasn't suited for the group, his skills and demeanor were far more suited for brute force operations, not one that required subtlety and utmost flexibility like this one. Thankfully another replacement was at the ready, an Ultramarines successor of all things. Things should go much smoother from now on. "Hopefully you did, Brother Sebastian." The Raptor puts her Mark 2 helmet again. "Watch-Captain, Lord Castillon, I trust with this settled we are ready to depart?"

Apollis Heinguard, Fourth Heir of the Heinguard Line (Title Forfeited Upon Induction Into the Blood Ravens)

Apollis sighs when he hears that Raknavalak would no longer be a member of the team. There was so much that the Templar could have learned from his peers and brought back to his chapter. For that was one of the core functions of the Deathwatch, and to see it so undermined saddened the knowledge hungry Blood Raven. He relished whatever information he could acquire from other chapters to bring back to his own.

Upon Sebastian's introduction, Apollis returns his sign of the Aquilla, "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. I am Apollis Heinguard, Blood Ravens fourth Company, formerly of Sixth, Apothecary, Poison Meister of the chapter-Secundus Grade, Seconded to the Chapter Vanguard, and keeper of Fallen Geneseed. I am honored to meet a veteran of the tyranid war. As a Poison Meister I am always looking for information on the biology of xenos races; I hope I may be able to get such information from you. But yes, the Raptor is correct, we should depart quickly, for an STC awaits!"

Brother-Sergeant Agatone Dak'ir, Kill-Marine
"Though I agree that Forge Master Raknavalak was a ill-suited choice for this mission, it is only because of his firey temperament and the sensitivity of the mission. I would be glad to have him by my side for his beliefs and zeal are true to the Emperor and the Primarchs. Apothecary Heinguard has caused a division within the team, dishonoured his brother Astartes, a battle brother who has proven himself true in the face of traitors and paid for it dearly. This I could chalk up to differences in traditions and training between Chapters but I believe the Apothecary to be a unique case. He dares to speak against the Black Templars, descended from the Primarch Rogal Dorn who stood against the traitors on Terra. He compares an outburst, a righteous one in fact, from a veteran against the alien and the heretic to the greatest heresy in recorded history. He speaks of never being struck by a fellow Astartes out of anger unless they were by Traitors hands and that makes me wonder, has he ever served in a proper Battle Company before coming to the Deathwatch or was he always relegated to the Apothecarion. " Dak'ir lets it sink in before pressing forward with his judgement.

"Naive, proud, and unwilling to admit his mistake. This is what Apothecary Heinguard has demonstrated to us all in a few short minutes about the qualities of his character. He had an opportunity to redress his wrongs. Yet continues to insult us all. Get him off this Kill-Team or keep him within as long as he stays out of our way. That is my assessment of this situation."

Sebastian

The Ultramarine pauses, an eyebrow arched as he looks over the assembled marines. He slings his bolter over his shoulder, still looking incredulously at the Salamander and the Blood Raven. "I take it I missed something, then." He strides forward, standing tall next to the captain and the noble. "Whatever it may be, brothers, we have a critical mission put before us, and I believe it will require our utmost attention. I ask of you to please, put any feuds and grievances behind you. As Lion El'Johnson and Leman Russ set aside their differences to bring the fury they felt towards one another against their common foe, we must do the same." He smiles earnestly, folding his arms across his chest.

"There will be time for matters of honor and the proper rites for duels, as they are laid forth in the Codex. I am certain the Dark Angel amongst us would be pleased to hear that there is a Space Wolf amongst those I have been training who has yet to face one of the Lion's men in a test of honor." Sebastian grins at this, before looking to the Blood Raven. "I have heard some of your tale, Apollis, and I have no doubt a man who was once nobility, such as yourself, will be more than prepared and more than willing to settle a manner of honor in what is not only the time honored way of lords and gentlemen of the Imperium, but also of the mightiest of the Astartes. We must only simply look to our Primarchs, and see the battles they fought amongst each other for honor and for glory, while retaining the respect and camaraderie that was bred within their hearts. It would be my honor, as a neutral party, to officiate this duel when the time comes." He steps forward, clapping the Apothecary on the shoulder. "But until then, we have a mission from Holy Terra. I look forward to serving alongside you, Brother Apollis, as much as the rest of our brothers." He gestures to the other marines and steps back, his hands on his hips.

After a moment, he looks to the captain, still smiling. "Well then! I believe we are assembled and ready for a full briefing, Captain. I must say, it is good to once again serve. What must we do?"

"Consider yourself reassigned Brother-Sergeant. As for the rest of you, go now with Lord Castillon ." The Salamander Sergeant leaves quietly after having been publicly reprimanded by the Watch Captain. He looks over his shoulder but once to see the rest of you depart with Lord Castillon to proceed on your journey. Onboard you will have plenty of time to contemplate the hazards of the world this quest takes you to, nevermind the possibilities of betrayal.

Outpost Aleph
Your first stop before meeting the Tau water caste envoys is to gather information about the recent events happening on the planet. Much can change in the weeks or months of a journey through the warp. Though astropathic contact has been maintained and your ship is one of the fastest in the galaxy, it still takes you months to arrive from your Watch Station into the Jericho Reach where the STC was supposedly located, on the death world of Pelegius. You've had much time to review the Datafax but your immediate concern would be political. Fighting on Pelegius has not abated, the charge against the Xenos being lead primarily by the Skitarii, their augmented forms allowing them the only infantry in the galaxy next to Astartes able to survive on the world unprotected. Supporting them are a major contingent of Tallarn armor regiments and Death Korps of Krieg line regiments. Despite all this might, they have been unable to drive the Tau off the world, who have deployed a full Cadre of battlesuit-equipped warriors to this world to stake their claim.

Both Lord Castillon and the Imperial Commander assigned to the world, a Praefect-Majore Aniran Revisch, undoubtedly have differing ideas when it comes to securing the STC.

"Deathwatch Thunderhawk "Venificus", confirm presence of VIP "Castillon". Respond to Cipher Omega-347" comes across the vox as the Thunderhawk goes through the motions, switching to Techna-Lingua to complete the rest of the conversation. (Those who speak it can roll to understand the conversation if you care to but its air traffic controller talk) After15 minutes, you have arrived in the underground hanger and the ramp drops where Skitarii form an honour guard and the Praefect-Majore stands waiting for you all.

In the situation room
You listen to the discussion between representatives of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Administratum, and the Imperial Guard. After the polite and formal greetings, the discussion turns hot enough to match the temperature on the radioactive desert surface of the planet. Accusations fly across the room much like bolter fire as the AdMech and IG reps bicker between themselves and Lord Castillon for a good 10 minutes. Though passionate debates are known amongst the Astartes, there isn’t much if any beating around the bush there. You aren’t quite sure how to proceed.

One thing is clear though, the IG Commander definitely feels that if the High Lords simply sent him the regiments he asked for 30 years ago, this whole charade wouldn’t be necessary at all. It is something the Mechanicus agree on also.

Hi, welcome to your first war room meeting. Before you can figure out how to diffuse the situation, you need to figure out what it is. To the obvious astartes eyes and ears it just seems to be useless bickering. If you roll Speak Language Low Gothic at -10 and pass to pick up on the various slangs, phrasings, and etc. I’ll allow you to read between the lines and understand just what they are bitching about. Irregardless of the reasons you need to calm them down to get on with the mission, so get to being talky marines.

Our Primaris concern is to guard and support Lord Castillon in his mission, which has been verified by the Ordo Xenos to come from High Lords themselves. We may be able to extend our support outside of those parameters as long as it does not directly conflict with Lord Castillon's objectives."

Ah Pelegius. Death worlds were excellent places to test your abilities and tactical acumen, specially against the Tau. Soluni would like it here indeed.

Well she would, were she not in this situation room with people yelling around. "Looks like they're not so different from us after all." she says privately on the squad vox, remembering the discussions regarding Rakna back on the Watch Station. "Sebastian, try to calm them if you will, they should respect and listen to an Ultramarine Veteran like yourself."

The Raptor would try something different. One way to know the situation from another perspective was talking to the lesser members of the organizations involved. Sometimes they were the only ones who actually understood what was it at stake. Wearing her impressive Mark 2 helmet, she scans the room for any lesser scribe, IG officer or tech-priest that may fit with what she wants, even leaving the situation room if necessary.

I want to approach one of them (if I find it) kinda gentle-like so they don't get too scared of talking to a Space Marine, Charm vs 60.

"It is an honor to once again be amongst the hallowed tactical minds of the Imperium's Fist. I am Sebastian, Ultramarine, and veteran of the Tyrannic Invasion of Ultramar." He gestures to the marines behind him. "Behind me are my brother-marines, each and every one of them ready to do what he must in the name of the Emperor. We are the blade of the Emperor, and we ask that we be wielded." His face grows stern as he talks, and at the end he glances between the gathered brass.

"So then!" He stands up and claps his hands, back to his shining self. "I believe we are in dire need of a briefing. I am uncertain of your quarrel amongst one another, but there are much more pressing matters at hand, and time is not an ally in this battle."

Or if I have to, I'll go ahead and spend cohesion to make them Parlay with me. :v:

Figure it'd help to have these here for all of us:

Oaths, by Sormus.
Squad modes, by me.

Note: I can implement EVERY SINGLE ONE of those loving squad modes, and I can do almost all of the good oaths. I think, with as many options as we have, we should probably not settle on just +10 BS/WS against a single enemy type, cause that's pretty fuckin' weak.

Apollis Heinguard, Fourth Heir of the Heinguard Line (Title Forfeited Upon Induction Into the Blood Ravens)

Apollis is silent all throughout the flight and landing, having said his peace during their meeting. No longer adourned in his clothing, and instead in his Apothecary armor. One hand is adorned by his lightning claw, the other his narthecum. Upon the landing, Apollis remains silent. Above all he is a Blood Raven, and he requires more information before he can make a judgment. He instead walks around the situation room trying to gather as much information from the various displays and littered documents as he can before even deciding to speak.

"Please tell us, do you know where the STC is located, and if it would be possible to attack in case the Tau cannot be reasoned with? Do keep in mind we are astartes, which should factor into your estimations."

Soluni, you find a man in a Tallarn dress uniform standing attentive in a corner, part of the Lord Genera's retinue. As you approach he seems equal parts terrified and excited. Looking up from his writing, he stammers a nervous, but incredibly respectful, "May I be of service, My Lady?"

As for the rest of you, while clearly simply being Astartes ,lends you much weight, it is not until Sebastian speaks that the assorted representatives cease their infernal bickering. A hush falls across the room, as the men realize they're dealing with Astartes.

After a brief pause, a superbly-mustachioed man in the extravagant coat of a Lord General of the Imperial Guard removes his intricately sculpted pipe from between his lips, exhales a ring of smoke, then speaks. "Ah, it is good to be speaking with those who truly understand the art of war." He leans back in his seat, then nods sharply.

"While the devices of the Mechanicus have yet to pierce the xenos techno-sorcery--" this is met with a synthesized harrumph from the Techpriest present--"My boys have managed to get eyes on, at no small loss of life you must understand, what appears to be a heavily guarded enemy research facility. The late Lieutenant Portsmouth reported the foul creatures unloading what appeared to be holy relics, before he was so sadly detected.

"I have no doubt that our noble goal is there. As for attack..." He takes a puff from his pipe. "I am all for it. No xenos can withstand the might of the Guard, not with unstoppable Astartes leading the charge!"

At this point, the techpriest jumps to her feet. "No! We don't know that it's even there, and the risk of damage is FAR too great!" Even though the cold tones of her voicebox, you can hear the surety and fury.

Sergeant Agatone looks upon each member of the party, scrutinizing their words and their appearances. Partly to understand what they are really getting at, partly to if any of them speak familiar lies. As he scans the room, he recognizes a familiar face. "Lord General Raijik, its been too long. Last time I saw you, you and your 157th Tallarn Raiders were headed to the spinward front. Tell me more about this war on Pelegios. Tell me the truth of this matter because what is at stake is more important than all of our lives."

Well, fuck. Really?
Sebastian

When the humans begin to fight again, Sebastian forces his smile wider, though his eyes do not show it. He pushes away from the table, standing up right, and rubs his chin in thought, speaking subvocally through the vox. "What a ludicrous parcel of driveling galoots." After a moment, he clears his throat. "I am sorry, Lord General, but I must ask you to start from the beginning here. My men and I have not been fully briefed, and I must say we are coming in during tumultuous times; we know there is an STC and that the xenos hold it, but beyond that, we are, quite honestly, in the dark."

Sebastian leans forward again, his smile gone. "Now, while we would absolutely LOVE to chat, tea, cake, the whole shebang, I must urge you to keep this as clean and unbiased as possible, sir. We have a holy relic of the Imperium to recover, and we will not make a move until the situation is fully understood; such is the way of the Codex, and such is how our detachment will operate. Facts, Lord General. What can we use to work with to our favor? What have the xenos requested? What do we know of their location?" He gives the techpriest and the lord general a scrutinizing glare. "I will take the answer from either of you, just so long as we know."

Soluni, Tactical Marine of the Raptors

Before saying anything to the Tallarn, Soluni glances back at the rest of the squad. Seemed like the Ultramarine and Salamander had things in order for now.

The Raptor returns her gaze to the guardsman, behind the precious Mark 2 helmet. Would a human even know rare such a thing like that was? Very likely not. "Greetings guardsman, I'm Soluni of the Raptors. Tell me of the recent engagements the regiments here participated, what enemy forces have you seen? I have no time for falsities so be completely honest with me, as it not my task to judge. My only desire is a realistic outlook of the battlefield."

Apollis nods, "The way you talk Ultramarine, I'd think you for a Blood Raven. Yes we need every bit of tactical information you have. Scout reports, aerial surveillance, intercepted comms chatter. Hopfully the negotitaions go smoothly and we can get the STC with no losses; but the xenos is tricky, we may have to take it by force."

Da'kir rolls a 38 on charm! Success! Soluni rolls an 8! Huge success!

Lord General Raijik grins. "Ah, that IS you, isn't it? I apologize for not realizing sooner! Those were good times. A noble war, much honor for the Imperium." He nods vigorously. "As for the war here..."

He pauses. There's a battle going on in his head, visible in his eyes. The High Techpriest looks at him firmly, and he sighs. "It is not going well. For all their my men cannot operate properly on the surface. We are limited in scope, and the drat xenos have mobility we simple cannot match." He takes a long draw from his pipe. "Still, it isn't hopeless. Our defenses are strong; every counterattack the filth have launched has been stopped. But we aren't gaining ground."

The Techpriest, one Saeratonia, joins now, speaking with the ire she seems to always bear. "It is all that and worse. This world degrades the holy machines. Even the Machine Spirits suffer from its blight. Yet the Alien seems to keep its blasphemous technology functioning far more readily. I shudder to think what vile methods they use, but they are effective, Omnissiah forgive me."

Finally, the third main representative--a powerfully build balding man, well dressed but not flashy, who was introduced as Stepharious Armarefortis, one of the sector's Lieutenant Governors --speaks. "As for what the xenos want, well, son, that's what your fancy diplomat's for." He nods towards Lord Castillon. "The local boys don't really know much about talking."

Meanwhile, the young guardsman stutters for a moment before replying. "I'm so, so honored, my lady! I'm Cal, if you care to know, that is. As for the war..." he lowers his voice. " Don't let the general hear this, but we're hosed. I've served in a war or two, don't get me wrong, but here... We just can't break them, not with what we have. And we have less every day."

The Ultramarine pauses for a beat before blinking, looking between the different players in this little game. "Well then, that's all very straight forward then. So where is this research base? It sounds as if we'd be better served making our way there with Lord Castillion than sitting around, chatting." He steps back from the table and motions for the other marines. "We're moving out, brothers! There's naught for us to do here but get our bearings and make way towards glory, honor, and the recovery of a holy artefact of the Imperium!"

Apollis furrows his brow. He's heard time and time again on battlefields of war that is stalemated. Often times one additional regiment, or one Astartes strike cruiser, is all that is needed to turn the tide, but the enemy was everywhere, and the Imperium's resources finite. At Sebastian's Command, Apollis puts up his finger, "Yes, in a moment, I have but one more question. Do you have any living or dead examples of the Xenos?"

Saniosus is shaken by the Blood Raven's question, his mind begins to race "why would they have alive xenos? All Imperial teachings say that no xenos should be spared! Spare no one! Kill even the children! Paint the halls with their blood!" he begins to smirk inside his helmet.

Clearly audible crack makes him snap out of it. It was his recaf cup he had been holding in his arm, now shattered into pieces inside his fist.

"Oh no, another episode." he mutters while producing a napkin and collecting the pieces

Apollis is shaken by from his state by the cracking of the recaf cup. "Of course the xenos should be killed Brother Saniosus, but sometimes intelligence can be gathered from the xenos before their rightful execution at the hands of the forces of Man. Alive or dead it matters not; I need only the biological matter from the xenos to create a toxin that may be of use to us if things go poorly at the negotiations." Apollis chuckles to himself, "Well i guess that depends on how you define poorly. It was but an innocent question, though perhaps out of all chapters the Blood Ravens are more likely to gather intelligence from the foul xenos before delivering their end."

Brother-Sergeant Agatone Dak'ir, Kill-Marine
"Apothecary Heinguard does make a valid point. With sufficient xenos caracasses, he could synthesize a biotoxin that could be easily weaponized against the Tau. Live prisoners can be interrogated for intelligence that will ensure we bleed less in the upcoming battles. We shouldn't risk any Imperial lives to force such an outcome unless it is for members of their "Ethereal caste". From what I recall of their importance in Tau society, capturing their leaders will give us a major bargaining chip in the upcoming negotiations."

The conversation goes on, but soon Lord Castillon raps his knuckles on a table. "I have heard many good ideas from my valiant escort. Yes, it is time we were in motion. Every moment wasted is a moment in which the Imperium lacks the bounty of this prize."

A general agreement follows; it seems nobody here wants to openly argue, at least. Previous communication has led to the establishment of a neutral rendezvous point to meet the Xenos at--an abandoned facility of unknown function. It's more ruins than not, but has a suitable chamber with functioning environmental controls.

However, none here trust the Xenos not to betray the arrangement. As such, you are riding ahead of the main convoy, in a recon-pattern Rhino. Your job is to confirm the ruins are free of ambushes. If there IS an ambush, disarm it.

A foul wind howls outside your metal box as it comes to a halt half a klick from the site. From here, you will proceed on foot. It is Lord Castillon's thought that the sight of mighty Astartes marching resolutely from the wastes will help emphasize his points.

The sun beats down upon your armor, but you give it no heed. A fractured tower juts up on the horizon; your goal. The wind shifts for a moment, however, and you hear a sound eerily like gunfire.
