First Officer Loricatus of the vessel 'And You Can Take That To The Bank' was not often discomfited, but today he could not restrain himself. He disengaged himself from the skull-jack ports of the first officer's chair and ascended the steps to the Captain's throne. The Warp-shielding and blast doors were down, but through the cathedral-ports of the heavily modified Imperial vessel he could still glimpse the insane flux of colors and shapes that was the Immaterium. He could not look into it for long, but from the Captain's throne there was an all-round vista of the spectacle when the vessel was in warp. When he had ascended the entire way he looked up and saluted smartly as was his old custom. He was an Imperial fleet veteran, discharged but not disgraced, and showed it in his bearing even when other crewmembers did not. He waited for the Rogue Trader to acknowledge him, a process which could take several minutes as the Trader retreated from his internal musings, the sights before him or whatever amusement trinket he had picked up this time. Rogue Trader Dunning Krugerrand withdrew from the warp-spectacle slowly, refocusing his eyes on his first officer. "Report." Loricatus tensed. "Sir," he began, almost halting in his objection. "There is one detail I would like to draw your attention to." "Go ahead." In lieu of words, Loricatus made a gesture with his hand which summoned a servo-skull from one of the hundreds of recesses hidden around the vast command chamber. It floated towards the officer, who muttered a small prayer of data invocation. The skull's display-eye lit up and displayed a holopic rendition of the ship's outer hull and what was written on it. code:
Dunning Krugerrand looked at the image with lidded eyes, then dismissed it with a wave of his hand. The skull obediently floated away. Looking directly into the eyes of his first officer, the Rogue Trader - a veteran of a hundred years of cut-throat business among the stars - reached inside his coat and withdrew a small case. It opened in his hand with a small click. With his other hand, he dipped his finger inside. Loricatus stared in fascination as the hand withdrew covered in pink dust. Carefully and deliberately, Captain Krugerrand applied the dust to his cheeks in a manner reminiscent to the old Imperial officer's eyes of the Catachan jungle warriors' war paint. He then closed the small case with a click carrying the weight of finality. "Any questions, Number One?" "N... No, my Lord." "Please, Number One. Just call me Captain. Dismissed." As Loricatus descended from the throne, he could hear the tell-tale sign of an internal ship communication from the Engine room to the captain, and something that sounded suspiciously like "Oook." Nice spelling error on the map

Alert! Incoming Ships! Augers Identify Targets As Xenos Designate: Tau Empire Commander Lamarr nearly spat out her freshly chewed mouthful of ploin as the alert servitors began blaring the alarm. The Tau, here? Now? This was just supposed to be a shakedown cruise, to help restore fleet morale and get some experience fore the new hands on board Manifest Destiny! The bulk of her fleet was still tied up to the planet taking on supplies! She wished fervently she was back on the bridge of Grace of the Emperor, but that ship and her sister Furious Vengeance were still standing guard over Spyrax Primus. Swallowing hurriedly she began buckling on her sword belt, and began issuing orders for the cumbersome battleship to get ready for war. Hawk and Falcon reported ready, but everyone else was going to need time. The drat xenos would pay for launching a sneak attack like this! quote:Tau surprise attack on Imperial forces at Okayama

The Tau surprise attack had been a devastating success. Ada Lamarr looked back at the burning ruins of her fleet, now distantly fading off the rear augers of the Falcon. She'd been evacuated at pistol point from Manifest Destiny before the reactor blew, and now she would have to face a board of inquiry. It would have been quicker to die fighting the Tau. The journey back to Spyrax Primus would be a long and lonely one. Alone in her cabin, her sidearm looked more appealing with every passing minute...Space Pearl Harbor posted:Tau Heroic Victory/Imperial Miserable Defeat 1122/360 VP Renown Gained +3 (Victory Points) Renown Lost -4 (Capital Ship Losses) Renown Lost -1 (Lost Battle) Renown Lost -1 (Sub-plot failure) New Renown 1 thatbastardken fucked around with this message at 11:10 on Dec 11, 2014 |

I'll be leading with task force Here's looking at Euclid The Battle of Space Pearl Harbor: Major Victory 1122 - 360 All our vessels started off on the precise vector to provide a local maximum of fire. The Manifest Destiny was located at one vertex, and was reduced to 1 HP and on fire. Hawk was at a local maximum of fire and was also destroyed. (Due to a minor problem with causality, ordnance was not fired on the first turn). On the first Imperial turn, every ship except Gladiator squadron activated, and they were able to catch Gamma and Weibull squadrons. However, their reliability functions held and the squads were not quite crippled. On the left flank, Falcon attempted to ram a member of Gamma squadron, but the waveform failed to collapse and, due to the speed, Falcon ran itself off of the battlefield. Manifest Destiny became a burning wreck and flew into the middle of the Tau fleet, where it promptly exploded, setting Hyperbola on fire. Due to the ship partially lying in the imaginary dimension, the fire was unable to be located, and continued to burn for the rest of the battle. The second turn saw a a withering degree of ordnance from Commander Lobachevsky, and the Vindictive was reduced to a burning wreck. On the right flank, however, Weibull squadron was left exposed, and Duelist Squad managed to board all 3 remaining ships. 2 were destroyed, and the last ship was finished off with teleported support from the Arrogant. As the Arrogant had passed the Tau lines, the last turn saw the entire fleet focus its fire on the Merciless, which was unable to withstand the onslaught. One torpedo salvo was sent at the Arrogant, but The Central Limit was, well, a bit too central and got shot up instead. Tau Subplot: Hit and Run. "Kawaii ichigo sugo..." Moananokke's transmission cut off abruptly as Buttslaya smashed his fist into the loudspeaker. Smashkrum used to be a right proper nob before he got a boltgun to the skulls. He survived, but started calling himself "Princuss Moananokke", speaking gibberish and doing all sorts of non-orky things. It was usually amusing (especially after some shroom beer), but now Buttslaya was in a foul mood, and everyone on the bridge of "Da Loudest Boom" tried to stay out of his sight. The pointy earz attacked while his boys were getting plastered in the newly captured weapon platforms/squig bars, and most of them were too drunk to get to their ships or find the controls. His own boyz barely managed to drive away a hit run and spent most of their battle repairing the ship. By then, the only course of action was to run away - it wasn't exactly orky, but Buttslaya said that he was a "mershunaree" and he had to live to spend his teef. Anybody else who wanted to the same had to keep their gobs shut. Now, the fleet was making its way to the nearest ork world, where Buttslaya would bash some weedy gits and replace his Terror ships. Maybe Grogmog would get a new cruiser, too, and shut up about his precusz Barrul Roll. Darn pointy earz. +++Buttslaya's Gunz Fer 'ire+++ posted:

After action report: Despite poor decision making from the Destroying Eye and the Proper Villains, the fleet managed to protect almost all of the transports from the surprise assault launched by the Dark Eldar. The Slaughter-class cruiser was nearly hulked but managed to limp away after making a brave but foolhardy dash for a trio of torpedo escorts. There must be some kind of camaraderie between the crew and the Villains because equally suicidal action was taken to absorb the brunt of bomber assaults. Only one of the 4 Iconoclast escorts (now nicknamed "The Wall" by much of the Chaos fleet) survived. Sadly the Eye and the Villains sustained too much damage and loss of life to have learned much from the experience. The confusion of new recruits and untested ships will mean a long stretch of training for the foreseeable future. All told, the Chaos fleet accounted for two of the Bleeding Eyes torpedo ships and another two of the Laughing Murder squadron before the surviving members of each trio retreated. Only one transport was lost to sustained torpedo barrage. Let it be entered into the great ledger of the demiurge, that on this day, In the void around Nilbog, the Dvalinn Brotherhood suffered great losses against our hated enemies, the Orks, led by Captain Squigferaleg. Both fleets were spread when contact was made, and took some time to arrive, with our Commerce ships being the faster to the field. Despite the lateness of the ork, we suffered heavy losses, surely putting us in the red next quarter. The Norðri, however, was able to shatter the ork hulk before escaping.
