also remember when internet explorer 4 on mac os 9 was the best browser on any operating system?

and that brief period between ie getting really lovely on os x and safari being released when there were no good browsers on mac os at all? i used iCab

absolutely. when i find a good deal on one i'm gonna get it and strip out the electronics and put my pc inside the case cause it is just a super pro lookin case.

I was surprised last year to find out iCab still exists, I hadn't used it since the OS 8 days I think. It's available on the iPhone now.

it was IE 5 and omniweb was actually really good before safari

Omniweb was great and then they put in that retarded loving bookmarks sidebar that couldn't properly be minimized and it was a huge "gently caress you" to all 12" Powerbook G4 users (the best Apple laptop made until the modern Airs).

Yeah my Pop had one of those hooked up to his IIci. It was the loving bomb (but he only had the B&W one as it was mostly for desktop publishing)

i can't imagine doing desktop publishing in black and white

i imagine you had to print things out a lot, or did they only ever do black and white design on those?

If it's a lot of printed words, it was just fine. Pictures were actually still being pasteboarded.

my dad was a Pagemaker user. An old friend does layout for our books now because of loyalty.

he uses Quark still.

one of the only things adobe ever did right was the pagemaker->indesign transition

they fuckin crushed it

I asked out layout guy once about indesign but he's pretty much set in his ways. I'm just glad the printing place we have been using forever still can access Quark files.

Our layout guy used to do CD covers for bands. The layout stuff he does for us is a large part of his income now.
