Destiny: The Taken King

The Taken King launches on September 15. It will be the biggest expansion to Destiny yet. Confirmed details so far include at least a new campaign, a new raid, 3 new subclasses, new strikes (including at least one Playstation exclusive), new PVP maps (including at least one Playstation exclusive), new PVP modes (including a CTF type mode), new patrol areas and a ridiculous amount of new gear. It also looks set to overhaul and improve how the game works in various ways.

What is this game?

Destiny is a first person shooter made by Bungie, the dudes who made Halo. It's built from the ground up around co-op and seamless online multiplayer, and incorporates quite a few MMO elements. You also collect loot like guns and armor to upgrade your characters. It's been described as a combination of Halo, Phantasy Star Online and Borderlands, but it's definitely more fun than the sum of its parts.

Here's a couple of videos. The first one's really long but it breaks down what the game's all about :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIxxsw7TNd4&hd=1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv7vqCmt6wY&hd=1

What's the story about?

quote:

Everything changed with the arrival of the Traveler. Long ago, it breathed new life into our system. Rain washed over Mars. Fresh air cleansed the skies over Venus. Soon after, humanity raced into the black, and colonized these newly remade worlds. It was a time of miracles – a great Golden Age.

It did not last. The Traveler had an ancient enemy. A powerful darkness that found us here on Earth, and nearly destroyed us. No one knows exactly what happened in those final moments, but we know this: we survived, and we owe our lives to the Traveler. In our darkest days, Humans, Exos, and Awoken found the Traveler where it made its last stand, low above Earth, silent and immobile. We built the City – our last – within its protective veil, fighting countless wars to keep its peace. From that dark age, Guardians were born.

Now, a new era has begun, and the only hope for our future lies in unlocking the greatest mysteries of our past. You are a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth, able to wield some of the Traveler's incredible power. You are taking this mantle just as a new day dawns. Titans, Hunters, and Warlocks have finally returned to our long-lost worlds, only to find out we are not alone.

Defend the last safe City on Earth. Defeat our enemies. Explore the ancient ruins of our solar system. Discover all that we have lost.

Become legend.

What's the gameplay like?

The game takes place across parts of our solar system, with a variety of different game modes. Here's a map of the locations you visit:

The gameplay is broken up between single player / co-op modes (PVE) and traditional shootmans multiplayer (PVP). The PVE stuff takes place on pretty huge maps, where you can be playing on your own or with friends and suddenly you'll run into other players going about their own business on the same big map as you. They might be doing the same mission as you, or they might not, and it's all matchmade seamlessly as you play.

You have a character of one of three different classes that you level up and find loot for - guns and armor pieces that offer different stats and different modifiers. You also have your own floating speedbike that you can call down at any time to make getting around the big maps quicker and easier.

The main hub is The Tower, which is in the last safe city on Earth that the busted-rear end Traveler hangs above. You go here to buy stuff, upgrade your spaceship, take bounties, advance story missions, try to start dance parties etc.

Here's a rundown of the main game modes:

  • Story missions are basically the single player or co-op campaign mode. You can play these on your own, or with one or two other players. You can also go back and replay them at harder difficulties whenever you feel like it.
  • Strikes are like boss runs or MMO instances. You can start them as a team of 3, or if you start them with less than 3 players you'll be automatically matchmade with enough players to fill out your 3 player fireteam.
  • Patrol lets you run around and explore the massive maps that the other missions and strikes take place on. You can also accept little mini-missions while in Patrol mode to grind for experience and or money.
  • Raids are the endgame hard mode content. These are for 6 player teams, and there's no matchmaking for them. Bungie says that this is because they're going to be truly challenging and they don't want to compromise the difficulty of them so that random pubbie groups could finish them.
  • Crucible is where you go for PVP. There's a variety of traditional multiplayer maps of different sizes, some including vehicles. Game types include your basic team death match, objective modes and more. Most game modes will have armor and weapon damage flattened so that low level characters can compete against higher level characters, however there will also be modes where all your gear stats count.

Here's a video about raids. It's worth checking out just to get an idea of enemy variety:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFRQlCX3Ygs&hd=1

Here's another video showing off the competitive multiplayer:

Here's some shots of some of the planets you visit. Click for big:

What are the classes like?

There are three main class types. Pictured above left to right they are hunters, warlocks and titans. Each class can use any type of weapon, so class types are more about your space-magic abilities. On top of that each class also has two subclasses that they can freely switch between (like switching weapons or armor). Here's a rundown of the classes:

Hunters are space snipers I guess. Their default super is the golden gun, which is literally a golden gun that has 3 bullets that can one-shot basically everything except bosses. Their special jump is a double jump, which can be upgraded to a triple jump. Their melee is a knife and they get fancy cloaks to parade around town in.

The default subclass is called Gunslinger. Click here to check out its skills.
The other subclass is called Bladedancer. Click here to check out its skills.

Warlocks are quite literally space wizards. Their default super is the nova bomb, which involves hurling a purple ball of space magic that explodes whatever it hits. Their special jump is called glide, which lets them glide around the place. Their melee is a force push thing and they get arm bands that end up having holograms coming out of them and stuff to pimp themselves out.

The default subclass is called Voidwalker. Click here to check out its skills.
The other subclass is called Sunsinger. Click here to check out its skills.

Titans are like a cross between Captain Falcon and Master Chief. Their default super is fists of havoc, which basically punches the poo poo out of the ground and kills everything anywhere near it - which can eventually be upgraded to make them fly in like loving Superman. Their special jump is a jetpack called lift, which lets them gain lots of height. Their melee is punching the poo poo out of everything, and they get various cool sweat towels that hang off their belts, so that they can wipe their hands off after they've finished punching space nerds.

The default subclass is called Striker. Click here to check out its skills.
The other subclass is called Defender. Click here to check out its skills.

Where can I get the latest patch notes?

You can always find the latest patch and hotfix notes here: http://www.bungie.net/updates

I started a new character and lost my special edition skins / Bungie code stuff! Or I accidentally deleted them! This sucks!

Go to the Special Orders desk. You can get them again as many times as you like on any characters on your account.

What are the reviews like?

Pretty dumb unfortunately. The great majority of the reviews you see on Metacritic came out within 4 or 5 days after the reviewers could even start playing the game. Highlights include polygon giving it 6/10 for various reasons including the fact that it has only 4 PVP maps (it actually launched with 11) and bad enemy AI (as always the Bungie enemy AI is probably the best in class for shooters). Jeff Gerstmann of giantbomb gave it 3/5 essentially because it's a first person shooter instead of an MMO. Also worth noting is that any review released within the first week of the game being released (that is, most of them) was written without the reviewer even stepping a single foot inside the raid, the culminating endgame experience of the game. Gaming journalism at its finest. The general goon consensus is that the story isn't great, but the gameplay is fantastic.

Here's a pretty intelligent write-up on exactly why most of the reviews dragging down the game's Metacritic score are so idiotic: http://www.gamesradar.com/if-youre-worried-about-destinys-longevity-or-level-cap-you-dont-understand-destiny/

What are the differences between the different console versions? What system should I get this for?

The gameplay and core experience is the same across all four available consoles. Obviously if you're playing on 360 or PS3 it's going to be at a lower resolution with more framerate issues than a current gen machine, but apparently it's still very playable. The PS4 is the lead platform for development, to the point where Bungie apparently had a big hand in helping design the Dual Shock 4 to make it better for shooters. Playstation consoles also get some timed exclusive content. The Xbox One version also runs at 1080p though, so at the end of the day while the PS4 is the best console to play it on, you're going to have the same fun with this game no matter which console you get it for.

Worth noting also is if you start playing it on PS3 you can migrate your character to PS4 if you upgrade your console, and you can do the same from 360 to Xbox One.

Is there cross play between consoles? If I'm on PS3 can I play with friends on PS4 etc?

Nope, as stated above you can transfer your character from PS3 to PS4 or from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, but cross play between consoles / generations is not possible.

Where's the PC version?

There isn't one. At least there aren't any current plans for one. There might be one down the track, but there might not. Sorry dudes!

Are there subscription fees? This game kinda sounds like an MMO.

Nope, you buy the game and then play it as much as you want, like a Halo or COD game. There will be paid expansion DLC, the first of which is due in December, but these are optional and all of the different limited editions come with a pass to download the first two once they become available.

I heard there's a phone app? What does it do?

There is! It basically lets you do the stuff you can do on bungie.net from your phone. This includes tracking stats, managing your character and inventory, reading your Grimoire cards, checking what Tower vendors have in stock, interacting with your groups / clans and more. It's available for iOS and Android. Get it here: http://www.bungie.net/en/Companion

Grimoire? What the hell is Grimoire?

Basically they're little digital collector cards that contain snippets of lore on the Destiny universe. You get them for completing different challenges in game (kill a certain number of a certain enemy type etc), for finding dead Ghosts and possibly in other ways. You can view and read your Grimoire collection on bungie.net and through the companion app (see above).

Certain Grimoire cards also provide minor in-game bonuses for getting them to a certain level. Examples include making certain weapon types level faster, or getting more of a certain resource type each time you find it (like spinmetal).

Can I get some Grimoire cards and emblems and stuff for free?

Hell yeah! Here's some codes that you can enter at http://www.bungie.net/en/User/coderedemption:

How do I join the goon clan?

There are actually multiple goon clans all part of a big goon alliance. This is because there is a limit of 100 members per platform for each clan. Go here to join a goon clan: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3720896

What's going on with voice chat? I can't hear anyone else?!

By default you can only voice chat with people in your fireteam. This includes during PVP - which means that by default you can't actually chat with your team in multiplayer unless you're in a fireteam with them. However if you're in a matchmade activity (a strike or a team-based crucible match) you can pull up your Ghost menu (the one you use to call in your sparrow) and switch to public chat using the D-pad. You can also go to voice options in the settings menu and set it so that you always join the public chat channel by default if you're playing on your own. This is the best way to instantly make the game a lot more social.

What are the trophies / achievements?

:siren::siren: Getting Started Stuff :siren::siren:

Which race should I choose? What are the differences?

The three races to choose from are humans (space humans), the awoken (space goths / emos) and exo (space robots). The only real differences between the races are what you look like in the Tower and in some cutscenes (you have your helmet on during actual gameplay) and your dance moves. So pick whichever one you think looks the coolest.

What's the best class? I don't know which one to pick!

The best answer is pick whichever one sounds the most fun for you. There's a write-up in the first post about their different abilities, but at the end of the day they're all viable in PVE and PVP. In fact you can create one of each, so choose whatever to start off with. If you don't like it, make another character!

What's the deal with leveling? Is 20 the cap? I've seen people over level 20!

Level 20 is the level cap without gear taken into account. High level gear has an attribute called +light, which raises your effective level. This acts as a gear check for certain activities (high level strikes and raids) and also lets you see basically how powerful other players are without having to check some separate gear level - it's all integrated into the one character level. So basically up until level 20 you're trying to level your character so you can wear better gear, past level 20 you're trying to get better gear to raise your character level.

How do subclasses work? Do I have to commit to one? I have to level it all over again?

You can switch subclasses as if they were a piece of gear - so you can swap back and forth between them like you would a gun or a helmet. Each subclass needs to be leveled up separately, so once you've hit character level 15 and you gain access to the second subclass it will be completely unleveled. Also worth noting is that once you've gained access to switching subclasses on one character the ability becomes available on all of your characters, so you can start new characters using their second subclass from the start if you'd like.

Probably the quickest ways to level a new subclass is to do bounties on your regular subclass, and then switch to your new subclass before you turn the bounties in. Once you feel like you've unlocked enough of the new subclass' abilities using this method you can switch to it and actually start using it. Or not. Whatevs.

What sort of weapons and gear can I get for my space barbie?

You can have three weapons equipped at a time. A primary, a special and a heavy weapon. Primary weapons include scout rifles (Halo DMRs), auto rifles (Halo Assault Rifles), pulse rifles (Halo Battle Rifles) and hand cannons. Secondaries include shotguns, sniper rifles and fusion rifles. Heavy weapons include rocket launchers and machine guns. Note that you can carry around a bunch of different weapons in each category, but if you switch special weapons or heavy weapons you will also lose half of the ammo for that type that you have. This is to discourage you switching from sniper to shotgun for example willy nilly.

As for gear, your character can equip a helmet, gauntlets, chest armor, leg armor and a class item.

You can also get new Ghost shells, sparrows (your floating bike thing), ships, shaders (armor colours) and emblems.

All of these items can have different stats including attack, impact, range, stability, reload time, rate of fire, magazine size on weapons and stuff like armor rating, super cooldown reduction, grenade cooldown reduction, melee special cooldown reduction and stuff on armor. They can also all have different modifiers based on their item rarity color.

What do the different item colors mean? What are these engram things?

As stated above gear and weapons you find can have different modifiers based on their rarity level.

The levels in order are:

  • White (basic)
  • Green (uncommon)
  • Blue (rare)
  • Purple (legendary)
  • Gold (exotic)

It's worth noting that you can only ever have one exotic weapon plus one exotic armor piece equipped at any time, so choose what you're going to use wisely.

Most of the time when you get a rare item of some sort it will come encryted as an engram. Basically you need to take these to the Cryptarch in the Tower to have them identified before you can use them.

Here's some examples of the cool stuff you can find:

More here: http://planetdestiny.com/exotics-destiny/

What is elemental damage? How does it work?

Damage on weapons can come in four types: kinetic (no elemental damage) arc (blue), solar (red) and void (purple). Basically elemental damage will do bonus damage to certain enemies if they have the same color shield type. Here's a video about elemental damage:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTLosBMLt3Q&hd=1

I have a weapon or some armor with a modifier on it but it isn't working!!

Gear with modifiers on them need to be leveled up before you can actually activate them. To do this you just need to actually use the gear until it unlocks, then pay some glimmer (money) and possibly some materials of some sort.

How do loot drops work? Do I have to share them with other people?

Nope, loot is all specific to every player. That is, you're the only one who can even see the drops that you can see, so don't worry about hogging them, sharing them or racing to get them or whatever. If you can see it, it's yours.

What are all these white, green and purple boxes that keep dropping?

That's ammo. White is primary ammo, green is special ammo and purple is heavy ammo. Like all drops, it's all for you so don't worry about leaving some for other players. As stated before if you switch which special weapon or heavy weapon you have equipped you will also lose half your current ammo for that weapon type, so think carefully before you switch from a sniper to a shotty or whatever.

How do I trade with other players?

You can't. Bungie says that they want your weapons and gear to be like a story for your character. Also I'm guessing they want to avoid the shitfest that was the Diablo 3 auction house, and the rampant duping that occurred due to trading exploits in Borderlands 2. Basically if you want some cool weapon you need to go and earn it yourself. Note that you can transfer stuff between your own characters using the vault in the Tower.

What do I do with stuff I don't want then? Do I take it to the Tower and sell it to a vendor?

Nope, trash it. There's a button you press (square on Playstation) to scrap items you don't want. This breaks it down to glimmer (cash) and in some cases other resources like weapon parts (which can then be used to upgrade weapons and stuff you do want to use). This takes the place of carting stuff to town to sell it in other games. If you don't want something and you know you don't want to use it, scrap that poo poo.

Can I store stuff I don't want right now for later?

Yep, in the Vault in the Tower. This is joint storage between all your characters, so it can be used to trade stuff between your own characters. Running out of storage in your vault? Scrap some of that poo poo you hoarder!

Loot drops are too small! I'm going to miss one!

Any blue or higher drops you miss or just don't pick up end up in the mail system for you back in the Tower. So it's literally impossible to miss good loot. You can straight up ignore blue or higher loot if you'd like, it will still be in the mail for you back at the Tower.

When do I get a sparrow speed bike with guns on it?!

You don't. Bungie has said they know that if they gave you a vehicle with guns on it whenever you wanted a lot of players would never get off it, so the vehicles you warp down from orbit don't have weapons. There are missions where you can get vehicles with weapons though, as well as public events in explore mode that pop up occassionally. Obviously some of the PVP maps have vehicles with weapons on them too.

My double jump goes too high! It's useless!

Press jump a third time to cancel the warlock's glide or the titan's lift whenever you want.

What are orbs of light? It says I generated them but I can't find them!

Orbs of light are produced when you kill things with your super. Only other players can see them - you can never see or collect your own. Picking up orbs that other players drop fills your super meter, so basically if you play with others and use your super moves effectively you can all get more supers quicker.

Is there any way to find out what the Patrol mode mini missions are? I'm sick of running all over the place all the time!

Yes! Each mini mission beacon will come up as a different icon on your hud depending on what type of mission it is. Here they are:

What are these public events?

At random times (or possibly set times) different public events will show up on the big overworld maps. These can be things like defending a point, killing a spidertank or chasing down a high level captain and killing him. The idea is that they bring together all the random people running around that area of the map to work together. If you participate you get a bronze, silver or gold medal, and each day you get a reward at the mail dude for completing your first public event that day. This reward can include a strange coin which can be used to buy exotics or endgame crafting materials, so completing these is definitely worth the time.

Here's a site that lets you track when they're likely to happen: http://destinypublicevents.com/

I found a golden chest. What are they?

Each big overworld map area has 5 golden chests hidden throughout it. Unlike the normal loot chests, these are always in the same spot. If you find all of these in an area you not only get the loot from each one, you also get another bonus on top of that. For example if you find all 5 in Old Russia you get a free upgraded Sparrow (speed bike). Here's some videos of where they can be found: Earth, Moon, Venus, Mars

I found a dead Ghost. What are they?

They're little hidden collectables that are pretty much everywhere, including all around the Tower. Finding them unlocks Grimoire stuff. Here's an awesome site that tells you which ones you have and where to find the ones that you're missing:

:siren::siren: Endgame Stuff :siren::siren:

I finished the story / hit level 20! Now what?

Welcome to endgame! For a lot of people, this is where the fun really starts. Here's a list of stuff you might enjoy doing:

  • Play PVP in the Crucible, including Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner.
  • Collect +light gear to continue leveling up your character to 34 so you can take on harder content.
  • Tackle harder and harder Strikes in the Vanguard playlist.
  • Complete the daily and weekly Heroic missions and strikes.
  • Beat the weekly Nightfall challenge that has even harder difficulty and modifiers.
  • Conquer the raids... then conquer them on hard mode.
  • Play the awesome firefight mode, the Prison of Elders.
  • Level up your other subclass or even another character class.
  • Hunt for the perfect gear to make your character the baddest dude in the solar system / the prettiest girl at the ball :swoon:

Here's an awesome step-by-step guide from Look Around You (note that I've edited it a fair bit so that it's still relevant after the expansions):

Look Around You posted:

1. Do the highest level vanguard strike playlist that you match (20 if you're lvl 20/21, 22 once you hit 22, 24 when you're 24 etc).

2a. Use and upgrade blue armor to get to higher levels. Your goal here is to find full blue "requires level 20" armor, and level it up. Leveling up an armor increases the amount of light it provides (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER). Once you have full lvl 20 blues upgraded, you'll be level 24 and be able to do the Tiger Strike playlist, which gives pretty decent rewards.

2b. Start running the weekly heroic strike at the highest level you can to start getting coins for Xur.

3a. Grind vanguard rep with bounties and patrols until you hit vanguard rank 2.
3b. Grind vanguard marks with public events and the strike playlist until you get enough to buy stuff.

4a. Buy purple legs and arms from the vanguard vendor. This will take two weeks. Note that if you have The Dark Below expansion you can get legendary arms for a single strange coin by running the Eris Urn quest.
4b. Try to buy an exotic from Xur on Friday/Saturday when he's in the tower; exotics have even higher light than regular purples, and get it faster.

5. Use marks to buy whatever armor piece you have left to hit full legendary and exotic gear. Level your armor up to increase your light level and overall character level.

6. Once you hit level 27 or 28 you can start raiding the Vault of Glass! Find groups in the thread in PGS or in here. You can also start entering the Prison of Elders.

7. At 30 or 31 you can also start doing the Crota's End raid.

8. Once you hit level 31 or 32 you can start doing the weekly nightfall and weekly heroic strikes at lvl 32. This gets you random good gear and a good amount of coins respectively.

9. Keep rerunning the Nightfall and Prison of Elders and other endgame activities, trying to get the raid gear and also radiant shards and energy to level up your gear. You also need exotic shards and Etheric Light (Light Nugz) to ascend stuff to level 34. Keep doing weeklys for coins. Bitch and moan and wait until the next expansion!

You can also do crucible at any time in this, which is always a super fun distraction if you like PvP.

e: other people answered the crucible/dead orbit/etc questions. I would personally wait until you hit vanguard 3 before joining a faction because they don't take vanguard marks; they only accept crucible marks. Once you hit 3 in vanguard you can use it as a mark sink to buy weapons/armor to shard or whatever.

How does +light gear work? Where do I get it?

As stated previously once you hit level 20, the only way to raise your effective level is with +light gear. Light is a seperate attribute like intellect, discipline and strength. Getting enough light points raises you to the next level, and better gear will have more +light on it. Effectively this makes your level past 20 a gear check, but it's an important one. Endgame content is significantly harder than the regular campaign content if you're under leveled / under geared. If a weekly heroic strike says it's for level 24, anyone lower than level 24 is going to find completing it a bit of a slog. For reference you automatically do 30% less damage and take 30% more damage from any enemies one level above you. For enemies two levels above you it's 40%, and for enemies three levels above you it's 50%. Enemies 4 or more levels higher are immune to damage from you, and will basically always one-shot you.

As such it's important to chase high end +light gear to continue progressing through endgame content. A sensible progression for PVE content after level 20 is doing Vanguard strikes (set to level 18 or 20) and the daily Heroic missions up to level 24 or so. After that you can keep doing all that plus the weekly Heroic strike and have a go at level 24 Vanguard stikes until you hit level 26. After level 26 you can tackle the raid, and after that the weekly Nightfall strike.

You can get +light gear from doing basically anything in the endgame. It can be rewarded for finishing strikes or other missions, it has a chance of dropping inside actual gameplay, it can be a reward for finishing a PVP match and it can be bought from some vendors (including the vanguard dudes, the crucible dudes, the faction dudes and Xur, who only comes on weekends). It's also worth noting that upgrading the defense stat on gear that has +light will also slightly increase that gear's +light amount.

How much +light do I need to level up past 20?

Level 21: 20 Light
Level 22: 32 Light
Level 23: 43 Light
Level 24: 54 Light
Level 25: 65 Light
Level 26: 76 Light
Level 27: 87 Light
Level 28: 98 Light
Level 29: 109 Light
Level 30: 120 Light
Level 31: 132 Light
Level 32: 144 Light
Level 33: 156 Light
Level 34: 168 Light

What's the most reliable way of getting legendaries and exotics?

By buying them. By using marks from doing PVE and PVP stuff to buy legendaries you can get 3 legendary armor pieces with 2 weeks worth of marks. If you top that off by using strange coins to get an exotic from Xur for the fourth slot, you can have end game gear guaranteed in two weeks or so of fairly casual play.

How do I hit max level (34)? Just by buying 4 purple items from the vendors and leveling them up? How much +light does each type of armor add?

With the release of the House of Wolves getting to level 32 is incredibly easy. 34 is fairly easy too. You need full Prison of Elders, Trials of Osiris, or gear ascended via Etheric Light or 3 of those plus an exotic to hit level 34. Four standard vendor legendary armor pieces can get you to level 32, but to get higher than that you need Prison, Trials or ascended gear and exotics.

  • Base Game Legendary armor starts at +18 light and fully upgrades to +27 light. It takes 5 armor upgrades to get there (+2, +2, +1, +2, +2) with the final 3 costing 6 ascendant shards each.

  • Vault of Glass Raid armor starts at +18 light and fully upgrades to +30 light. It takes 5 armor upgrades to get there (+2, +2, +2, +3, +3) with the final 3 costing 7 ascendant shards each.

  • Base Game Exotic armor starts at +21 light and fully upgrades to +30 light. It takes 4 armor upgrades to get there (+2, +2, +2, +3) with the final one costing an exotic shard.

  • The Dark Below Legendary armor started at +24 light and fully upgraded to +33 light. It takes 5 armor upgrades to get there (+2, +1, +2, +2, +2) with the final 3 costing 6 ascendant shards each.

  • Crota's End Raid armor starts at +30 light and fully upgrades to +36 light. It takes 5 armor upgrades to get there (+1, +1, +1, +1, +2) with the final 3 costing 7 radiant shards each.

  • The Dark Below / Upgraded Exotic armor starts at +30 light and fully upgrades to +36. It takes 4 armor upgrades to get there (+1, +1, +2, +2) with the final one costing an exotic shard.

  • House of Wolves standard and vendor legendary armor is +36 light. You only need to unlock perks now, not armor upgrades.

  • Prison of Elders and Trials of Orisis armor is +42 light, which is the current max level. Only the perks need to be unlocked. Remember that any legendary or exotic armor can be ascended to this max light level now with Etheric Light (for legendaries) or exotic shards (for exotics).

I never get any good drops or rewards! I don't have a full legendary set yet! What gives?

Getting drops and good gear is basically a random number generator, or a roll of the dice. It's random. Sometimes you can get 2 great drops in an hour, sometimes you won't get any for days. The more you play the more chances you'll have at getting the gear you want :csgo:

It's also worth noting that your main source of gearing should be using marks to buy stuff from either the vanguard guys, the crucible guys or the faction guys. Doing this you can have raid ready gear in two weeks of fairly casual play.

Leveling high level gear takes ages! What's the quickest way to do it?

Bounties! Before you turn any bounty at all in make sure you've switched all your gear and weapons to things that need leveling. If you have a subclass that needs leveling make sure you switch to that too.

What are these motes of light? Strange coins? Marks? What do I use them for?

These are various types of currency. Here's a rundown:

  • Glimmer is the main cash type currency. You spend this on low level gear, emblems, shaders, ammo packs, upgrading items etc. It caps out at 25,000 and is shared across characters.
  • Motes of Light are currency used to buy emblems and class items from the speaker, to re-roll weapons and to buy certain things from the Xur, Agent of the Nine (a vendor who visits on weekends). You get one of these every time you earn enough XP that it would have made you go up a level after hitting level 20. They can also be found as random drops or given as activity rewards, and legendary weapons and armor from House of Wolves also dismantle into motes.
  • Strange Coins are currency used to buy awesome poo poo from Xur, Agent of the Nine, who sells exotics and more every weekend in the Tower. You can get these as drops, random rewards and for completing high end content.
  • Marks are currency used to buy weapons and gear from the vanguard dudes, the crucible dudes, and the faction dudes. There are vanguard marks and crucible marks. You get vanguard marks from running the Vanguard strike playlist and completing other endgame PVE stuff and can spend these with the vanguard dudes. You get crucible marks from playing PVP and can spend these with the crucible dudes and the faction dudes. You can earn a maximum of 100 of each type of mark per week and you can have up to 200 of each saved up at a time.
  • Commendations were introduced in the first expansion and have since been retired. You needed to use these with marks to buy certain items from the vanguard, crucible and faction vendors, including weapons, helmets and chest armor. You got a vanguard commendation every time you leveled up your vanguard reputation, and you got a crucible commendation every time you level up either your crucible or a faction reputation. If you use these like a consumable now they will apply reputation to vanguard, crucible or a faction.
  • Weapon Cores and Armor Cores are gained from the Prison of Elders and are used to buy weapons and armor from Variks in the Reef.
  • Passage Coins can be used to buy buffs for the Trials of Osiris. They can be won in crucible matches.
  • Tokens of Flight and Tokens of Identity can be used to buy ships and shaders respectively from Variks in the Reef. They are random rewards from most House of Wolves activities.
  • Treasure Keys are used to open the big treasure chest at the end of the Prison of Elders. They can be obtained randomly from Ether Chests from House of Wolves patrol events, Petra Venge bounty and rank up rewards and from the small chests at the end of the Prison of Elders.

What's all this spin metal / iron ore / ascendant shards etc?

They're materials you need to upgrade your gear. Better gear and weapons will require more materials to upgrade. You can trade in some of it, but you're better off holding onto it for endgame upgrades. Here's a video on the different materials and stuff:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8bWzW1n-VY&hd=1

Note that the first expansion introduced radiant shards, radiant energy and exotic shards. Radiant shards and radiant energy are only found in Crota's End and are required to upgrade Crota's End raid armor and weapons.

Exotic shards can be bought from Xur or obtained by dismantling exotic weapons and armor. They are used to upgrade exotics.

Etheric Light (aka Light Nugz) was introduced in the House of Wolves, and can be used to upgrade any legendary armor or weapon to the maximum level as at House of Wolves (+42 light or 365 attack).

Why won't the vanguard / crucible / faction vendor sell me stuff? I have marks!

You need to reach a certain reputation level with each type before they'll sell you certain gear. You earn crucible rep by playing PVP. Vanguard rep is earned by running certain PVE activities, including Patrol missions and bounties. To earn faction rep you need to buy and equip one of that faction's class items and then do something that would normally earn crucible or vanguard rep. The reputation you earn will be applied towards that faction instead.

Which faction should I try to get reputation for? What's the difference?

As stated above, you earn rep for a faction by buying and equipping one of their class items. This will convert any rep you'd usually earn for vanguard or crucible into rep for that faction. Once you've got enough reputation with a faction, they'll sell you gear for crucible marks. Each faction's gear specialises in two different stats:

  • Dead Orbit specialises in discipline and strength (so more grenades and special melees)
  • Future War Cult specialises in intelligence and discipline (so more supers and grenades)
  • New Monarchy specialises in intelligence and strength (so more supers and special melees)

So pick the one that suits your play style. Or even better, get used to specialising in supers and grenades because FWC loving rules :c00lbert:

I just got an exotic bounty! Which one should I pick?

Thorn and Bad Juju are the two most recommended options. That said, when you get an exotic bounty you can only choose between 3 different options, so the one you want isn't always one of your possible choices. Here's a rundown of all the exotic bounty options:

  • Shattered Memory Fragment gives you Pocket Infinity, which is a fusion rifle that has autofire. It's pretty good for tearing down bosses and is great if you can't aim in PVP.
  • A Light In The Dark gives you Thorn, a really awesome hand cannon that does damage over time.
  • Toland's Legacy gives you Bad Juju, a pulse rifle that Bungie has just buffed. It's gone from terrible to really good, and excellent for certain builds.
  • A Dubious Task gives you Invective, a shotgun that regenerates ammo. Pretty good for PVP, possibly worth picking up if you love shotguns and don't already have a great rare or legendary.
  • A Voice In The Wilderness gives you Super Good Advice, a bullet hose heavy machine gun that's only very rarely worth taking up your exotic weapon slot. The real Super Good Advice is to use another gun.

I just got an exotic weapon and it doesn't seem that great. This sucks!

Level it up to unlock the perks you dummy! Very few exotics are amazing until you unlock their titular perk. For example Pocket Infinity is just a fairly mediocre slow-charging fusion rifle when you first get it, however once you unlock the 'Pocket Infinity' perk it turns into one of the best guns in the game. Exotic weapons take absolutely forever to level up, so do whatever you can to speed the process up. Make sure they're equipped before you turn in bounties!

What's that Vanguard thing on the map next to the Crucible?

It's a playlist where you run random strikes. You can bring a fireteam with you or get matchmade with pubbies. You can choose different difficulty levels and they award vanguard reputation and marks and possible gear rewards.

What are these things on the left hand side of my map?

They're the daily PVP mode, the daily Heroic mission, the weekly Heroic strike and the weekly Nightfall strike. They have increased XP rewards and some have higher level rewards. The PVE stuff also has modifiers applied to increase the difficulty - think skulls from Halo. Examples include Juggler (ammo won't drop for the gun you're currently using) and Arc Burn (all arc damage is greatly increased - from your weapons and from enemy weapons). To get specific information about the modifiers on an activity you just need to select the activity on the map and then put your mouse cursor thingo over the modifier.

Nightfall strikes become available once you hit level 28, and they're hard as hell. On top of that if everyone in your fireteam dies you get sent back to orbit. If you finish them you get a bonus XP multiplier for all your activities for the rest of the week, high level rewards, plus you get a totally cool blue glowing halo thing around your head for the rest of the week.

What's the Vault of Glass raid like?

The Vault of Glass is located on Venus. It's super hard and super fun. And even harder on hard mode. Your progress through it is saved each week, and it has a chance to drop extremely high end rewards. You can get loot from each stage of the raid once per week too. Your progress and loot lockout is reset every Tuesday.

There's no matchmaking for the raid, but it's pretty easy to put together a group through your friends list, this thread, the PGS thread, or the Bungie goon group forums. You should be level 26 minimum before you attempt it or you'll be a burden to your group. Remember to buy special ammo and heavy ammo packs from the gunsmith too.

Unless you're on a quest of discovery and want to figure things out for yourself (and your group has agreed to that) you should also do some pre-reading so you know what to do. Here's the best available guide:

Mazerunner posted:

1. Play control against the Vex to test your mettle. Get chest.

2. a) You're bouncers at a concert and the Vex are trying to gatecrash. Stop them! Fanatics will try and push drugs on you and you'll get high on acid. If you're high while when the Templar drops the bass, you become a skrillex fan and are lost forever. Accept the light of Jesus and be saved!

b) Panhandling oracles will attempt to play music without a permit. Sing a counter song of gunfire.

c) The main event! The Templar shows up with his harpy back up dancers. One person grabs the sacred relic and purges his unholy satanic shield. Everyone else reads scripture from America's bible :freep:

3. Walk calmly to the left and go up a cliff for treasure. Walk calmly to the right for more treasure.

Follow the river to pride rock, then slide to the right, spin around and tap your heels three times. I wish I was out of this goddamn maze. I wish I was out of this goddamn maze. I wish I was out of this goddamn maze.

Don't run, jump, laugh, dream, eat, play guitar or dance. At no point should you hide under cardboard, that just makes you look foolish. Never be on your toes, always be relaxed, chill mutherfuckers.

4. Channel your inner Mario (or just Titan superman, Bladedancer swim, or fling yourself across and revive as Sunsinger).

5. a) Now you're the gatecrashers at Atheon's party. Beat up the first doorman, then head into the left and right side rooms and beat up his buds. Some of you will have to stay back to keep the cops off your asses.

b) Atheon shows up and tries to split up your group. Half will break his soundsystem, while the other half unlocks the door so they can get back in. The floor is lava so stand on the pillars. When you break his poo poo Atheon gets mad so say mean things to him with your bullet words and his feelings will be very hurt.

6. GODDAMNIT ANOTHER CHATTERWHITE!?!

Map for the Gorgon Labyrinth:

When is the reset for all this weekly stuff?

Tuesday! 2am PST.

I hit the level cap... Is there any way I can make this character even better?

Yes! MIN / MAX YOUR GEAR MOTHERFUCKER! The stat rolls (for int, disc and str) on armor are random, even on exotics and raid armor. You need +272 of a stat to get it to 100% cooldown reduction for its associated ability, however the benefits are huge.

By default your super takes 5 mins 30 seconds to recharge on its own, however with 100% cooldown reduction (+272 intellect) it only takes 3 mins 55 seconds, plus kills restore 2x the usual super energy on top of that.

By default your grenade takes a full minute to recharge, however with 100% cooldown reduction (+272 discipline) it only takes 27 seconds.

Want an example of the potential stat roll differences? The Armamentarium Xur sold in week 6 had a disc roll of 104 (117 fully upgraded), while the Armamentarium he sold in week 10 had a disc roll of 138 (155 fully upgraded).

What are these Wolf Chests / Ether Keys?

They appear after you complete "Pack of Wolves" patrol events on Earth, the Moon and Venus. They're chests that have a glowing beacon of light extending upwards from them, and you only have a minute and a half to find them and open them while your Ether Key is active. They can include planetary materials, engrams (including legendary) and Treasure Keys for the Prison of Elders.

You used to be able to glitch them and open them multiple times within the minute and s half, but this glitch was fixed.

I heard you can upgrade old weapons and armor now? How do I do it?

You can! All legendary weapons and armor can be instantly upgraded by using Etheric Light (aka Light Nugz). This makes weapons hit 365 attack and armor hit +42 light. Etheric Light can be gained guaranteed from the Prison of Elders on level 34 or 35, Trials of Osiris by getting a 6 wins or above package, and during Iron Banner. It also has a chance of being a Nightfall reward.

All exotic weapons and armor can be upgraded in the same manner with exotic shards, which can be bought from Xur or gained by dismantling other exotics.

Note that upgrading your legendary and exotic stuff doesn't reset any of your progress leveling them. If the weapon or armor isn't fully leveled up you'll still need to fill in any remaining bubbles though.

You can re-roll weapons now? All of them?

You can now re-roll the perks on certain weapons at any time at the gunsmith in the Tower. Doing this will reset any leveling progress. You can only re-roll certain weapons, including most standard House of Wolves legendary weapons and Iron Banner weapons. A weapon will have a little double hammer icon in its perks if you're able to re-roll it.

Note that with the House of Wolves certain perks have been retired from certain weapon types, or retired altogether. Notable examples include field scout on machine guns, final round on sniper rifles and hammer forged on shotguns and fusion rifles. Old Iron Banner weapons can still reroll with these old perks, making them well worth holding on to.

Remember you need to have a weapon equipped to re-roll it!

What's the Prison of Elders like?

The Prison of Elders is basically firefight mode but with random modifiers and boss battles included. You can play it on level 28 with matchmaking as much as you like each week. Every time you play the level 28 version the room orders and modifiers will be random, and the rewards are similar to the strike playlist (engrams, motes of light and strange coins with a low chance of better stuff).

There are three harder difficulty levels that have set weekly modifiers, room orders and no matchmaking. These have a weekly lockout for their set rewards: level 32 (which guarantees you an Armor Core), level 34 (a guaranteed Weapon Core and Etheric Light) and level 35 (a guaranteed Armor Core, Weapon Core and Etheric Light). Note that unlike the weekly heroic strike, you can't just do the hardest difficulty level first to get all of the rewards. To get the 2 guaranteed Armor Cores, Weapon Cores and Etheric Light each week you need to complete all three difficulty levels.

You can always see the current week's rooms and modifiers for PoE at the Advisors page of bungie.net: https://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/Advisors/

What's this Treasure Key for? How do I open the big chest at the end of the Prison of Elders?

The huge chest at the end of the Prison of Elders requires a Treasure Key to open. You can open it as many times each week as you like as long as you have Treasure Keys. The current theory is that the first time you open it on a character you get a guaranteed exotic plus a Queen's Weapon, every time you open it after that it's a guaranteed Queen's Weapon but only a chance of an exotic. There is no difference between the big chest on level 28 and the higher difficulty levels, except for a chance at cosmetic items such as ships and emblems etc coming from the big chest on level 35.

You get a Treasure Key for completing the House of Wolves story missions. You also get one guaranteed each week the first time you turn in a Petra Venge bounty (one guaranteed per week per account). You can get more randomly from Ether Chests from House of Wolves patrol events, Petra Venge bounty and rank up rewards and from the small chests at the end of the Prison of Elders.

Note that you don't need a Treasure Key to get the set rewards for the higher difficulty levels of Prison of Elders (Armor Cores, Weapon Cores and Etheric Light). These are all found in the two smaller chests that don't require a Treasure Key.

What's an Elder Cipher? How do I get the new exotic weapons?

The new exotic weapons from House of Wolves all come from an exotic bounty called the Elder Cipher. You have a random chance of acquiring it when you beat the Prison of Elders on level 34 or level 35. If you don't have a bounty slot free when you beat the boss on these difficulties then you can still get the Elder Cipher - it will be waiting for you to pick up from Variks (not the post master).

Skolas is hard! Any advice?

Yes! The extra enemies that spawn and the mines that need to be dismantled are tied to certain checkpoints on Skolas' health. So take your time, clear enemies out and rotate from one side of the arena to the other when you get overwhelmed. Here's a handy image that shows you when certain events trigger in relation to Skolas' health:

What's the Trials of Osiris?

Trials of Osiris is a weekly PVP event available from 10am PST on Friday until the weekly reset. It is 3 vs 3 with no matchmaking and takes place on a single set map every week. The game type is elimination - to win a round you must kill all members of the other team, with revives enabled. The first team to win 5 rounds wins the match.

To compete you must buy a Trials Passage in the Reef. They only cost 100 glimmer and you can buy as many as you want each week. Your Trials Passage records your current progress - you need 8 wins to get the highest reward package each week, but if you lose 3 matches that passage is completed and you need to buy a new one to start again.

You gain better rewards for winning more matches:

2 – 3 wins: Stone – Bronze tier packages, including Motes of Light & Passage Coins
5 wins: Weekly armor
6 wins: Silver Tier package, including Motes of Light, Passage Coins, & Etheric Light – chance at Exotics
7 wins: Weekly weapon
8 wins: Gold Tier package, including Motes of Light, Passage Coins, Etheric Light, & random ToO gear – chance at Exotics

You can buy all packages you gain access to, and if you get 9 wins without a loss recorded on your Passage then you gain access to the Lighthouse, with exclusive end game rewards (emblems and elemental primaries).

You can also use Passage Coins to buy buffs for your Passage. You can only buy these once per Passage. You retain your highest win rank each week until the weekly reset.

I heard the Speaker lets you trade shards and stuff now? He isn't offering it for me!?

He does, but the option only appears if you have the relevant materials in your inventory. This is the same for the gunsmith re-rolling weapons - the option will only appear if you have a re-rollable weapon equipped.

What's the little II symbol in the corner of some items?

It's a little Roman numeral two, to represent expansion two. It means you need to own House of Wolves to use that item.

:siren::siren: The Dark Below Stuff :siren::siren:

What's the recommended level for normal Crota's End?

The raid starts at level 30, but then quickly jumps to 31 and then finishes on level 32. So while it's definitely possible to do at level 30, the quicker you can hit level 31 the better.

I heard there's a raid chest you can solo for exotics?

There was! It's still there, but it only drops radiant shards and radiant energy now. Basically there's a chest that can spawn in one of seven different locations. You load up Crota's End, drop down into the raid and then check if the chest is in either of the first two locations. If it isn't, just wipe and the chest position will reset, so check them again. Repeat until you find it.

Why should I bother leveling my reputation with Eris up?

Apart from having some cool new shaders and being another source of heavy ammo synths, Eris has a couple of unique benefits if you level up your reputation with her. One is the ability to change radiant materials from the new raid from energy to shards and vice versa. The other is that it's the only way to get the thing you need to upgrade the Husk of the Pit up to the next stage on its way to becoming the exotic Necrochasm (a lovely bullethose).

Apart from leveling up reputation with her, her bounties are also another great source of experience to level up weapons and armor. If you're leveling an alt they can also be used to make the journey to level 20 even quicker!

What's the Husk of the Pit? How do I get it?

The Husk of the Pit is a common (white) auto rifle, that can eventually be upgraded to the exotic Necrochasm.

To obtain the Husk of the Pit you need to kill Blades of Crota. It doesn't appear as a drop or an orb, it just turns up in your inventory like a raid drop.

Once you have it you need to use it to kill hive to level it up, and then use an Embalming Orb you can buy from Eris to upgrade it into the legendary Eidolon Ally. Once you've leveled up the Eidolon Ally by killing hive you use the Crux of Crota obtained from hard mode Crota's End to upgrade it to the exotic Necrochasm.

Where can I find these Blades of Crota?

There's a guaranteed Blade of Crota that spawns right at the start of the Fist of Crota mission, so that's a fairly easy way to complete the bounty for killing them or farm for a Husk of the Pit. They used to spawn on patrol but now they've been replaced by the Packs of Wolves.

What's this Urn quest with Eris? I need to buy something from Xur?

It's gives you new +33 light legendary arm armor for your character. Here's what it involves:

1. Purchase an Urn of Sacrifice from Xûr.
2. Kill Thrall with Solar Damage from a fusion rifle and collect 25 Embers they drop. Death will reset your progress.
3. Kill 5 Cursed Thralls using a Melee Attack to collect Seething Bile. Death will reset your progress.
4. Defeat Acolytes and Wizards with Void Damage and collect 100 of their Sullen Hearts. Some progression (20 Sullen Hearts) will be lost on death.
5. Bring the Urn to Eris.
6. Kill Urzok, the Hated in Earth's Skywatch during public events.
7. Bring the Urn to the Moon for Ritual of Sacrifice mission.
8. Return the Urn to Xûr to receive eyes.
9. Bring the eyes to Eris.

What's the little I symbol in the corner of some items?

It's a little Roman numeral one, to represent expansion one. It means you need to own The Dark Below to use that item.

How often does Crota move?

Every minute. Here's a Crota Timer app a goon made:

* Graphical error on the about screen on the iPhone 6+

I hope this app is helpful for you all. I've tested it out with a few raid groups and it's worked perfectly. Please let me know if there are any features you'd like to see.

You can find it right here, 100% free

:siren::siren: PVP Stuff :siren::siren:

I came first in PVP and I didn't get anything! But the dude who came last got something! What the hell?

It's random. Any other system would be poo poo. If only the best players got rewards people would drop out if they were doing badly. If only the worst players got rewards people would intentionally play badly. So it's random. Play more and you'll have more chances to get stuff!

The PVP sucks! I suck at it! This is poo poo!

Call of Duty or Battlefield this ain't. If that's what you're used to, you have a fair bit of an adjustment to make. It's important to realise that in PVP (except for Iron Banner) the attack and defense stats of your gear don't count. This means that good modifiers on your gear, and stats like impact on your weapons are much more important in PVP. Two of the biggest tips are:

1. Use the bloody motion tracker! Check it constantly! USE THE BLOODY MOTION TRACKER!!

2. Learn to strafe, jump, aim and shoot all at the same time. This isn't COD where two or three bullets kill somebody so you can just crouch and pull the trigger first. Mobility is essential, so start learning to move and aim at the same time. Break off engagements if you need to so that the enemy needs to chase you.

Here's some great tips courtesy of Paniolo:

Paniolo posted:

I find the best thing to do when I'm struggling in PvP is to just focus on not dying. Practice your situational awareness, try to learn the environments, look at your radar and when you see an enemy try to figure out where they most likely are on the map. Once you get into that habit you'll find yourself flanking people a lot more, which is what you really want to be doing.

Keep in mind that any time you have a head to head confrontation with another player when you are both at full strength, you have a greater than 50% chance of dying (because of kill trading.) The only time it's really safe to do that is when you have your super, and even then, they might have theirs. So don't be afraid to disengage.

Also, remember that it's a team game and you can use your teammates. If they're all assaulting a zone from one side, flank from the other side. Those are the situations where people get multikills.

Paniolo posted:

More random crucible tips:

  • Your super regeneration rate increases the longer you're alive, so long as you're doing things like capturing zones or killing people. That means dying is really bad, because not only does the timer not run while dead, the rate resets. Also, if you're dead when heavy ammo or interceptors spawn, you won't be able to control them. So focus on not dying.
  • Grenades are often better used as a defensive tool than to score a kill. Don't just throw them wildly hoping to kill someone, it's better to have them ready for when you need to disengage or block a chokepoint while your team arrives.
  • Control zones capture significantly faster the more people are inside, but heavy weapons and supers can clear out a group of clumped people extremely quickly. When the radar is clear, everyone nearby should help capture, but once you see red on the radar you should spread out.
  • Sliding can be a really effective escape tool, especially if you're being shot at long range. Most people are going to be aiming for the head and will whiff at least one shot when you start sliding.
  • If you start having a bad time, focus on staying alive. Help capture zones (in control) or follow your teammates around and assist them. All of those things give you points and super energy.
  • Controlling heavy ammo is really important. Once you have it, it's pretty easy to get enough kills with your heavy weapon to activate your super and get even more kills. The majority of sprees involve someone getting heavy ammo or a vehicle.
  • Don't waste your super. It can sometimes be worth it to kill one person (especially if they're on a tear or have heavy ammo), but if you aren't completely sure you'll secure the kill it's sometimes better to die and save it. Remember that you can be killed during the casting animation.
  • If you died really quickly and it feels like somebody's weapon was really good or something, odds are you actually took damage from multiple sources. This happens especially frequently on First Light. Consider whether or not you were exposed from multiple angles.

Oh yeah, and maybe the most important thing to keep in mind is that any matchmaking algorithm takes a while to figure out where everyone should be, and there's a lot of people diving in to the matchmaking pool right now. So if you're brand new, you're sometimes going to go against people who've played tons and tons of console shooters, or sunk 30 hours into the alpha on PS4 and are now playing on Xbone, etc. If someone is absolutely tearing up a game, or you're significantly undermatched against everyone else, you can leave the session at the end of the game and go back into matchmaking to try and get a better match.

Here's an excellent video where Datto explains what he's doing and why in a round of PVP:

Rei_ posted:

If you think a shotgun blast and a punch to the gut shouldn't be a kill well drat are you playing games by the wrong company.

Do you want to know how to win Rumble? Learn the maps, use your radar. Never chase an enemy, if they get around a corner whip a grenade after them and then break off and find someone else. Bad players and good players alike thrive on overzealous kids spending 30 seconds chasing one kill. Learn to jump and move and aim at the same time, use the long time to kill to close gaps and end fights with a melee attack. Learn where the heavy weapon spawns are and when the call goes out be there FIRST. Run a MACHINE GUN. A rocket launcher is for OBJ gametypes, a machine gun can be a dozen kills if you're good. Aim for the loving head. Look UP. Look DOWN. You are going to die to supers, they are killstreaks, they get kills, learn to live with it and don't feed them more than you have to. Keep moving, but know where you're moving TO. Trying to 'hold an area' like COD in a game with such wildly varying TTK will get you loving killed. Learn which kills are worth trying to get, and which are a waste of your time. Don't wander into gunfights like a moron. Tell her you love her, life is too short. Don't try to snipe in free for all, you idiot. Learn to loving juke. Your best dodges are BACK and UP. Learn how to break lines of sight. Don't be stupid. Use headphones.

Stick with it! In time you'll get good enough that you can just do this:

^ probably. Whatever, it's ok to be patient for new raid HM.

Yay for expansion tomorrow! Boo for not being able to play today because PSN countdown is bugging game out! Yay for new content! Boo for having to get 3-5 new currencies to buy/upgrade weapons! Yay for new weapons! Boo for current weapons needlessly becoming defunct because Bungie didn't feel the need to add a way to upgrade old legendaries to the new light limit! (this last one I really only am upset about because the stock Lord High Fixer is my favorite gun in the game and now I'll have to find something else to use in level 32 content)

New titan exotic helm looks sort of weak, but maybe I don't understand it. Does it make your WoL/AoL buff last longer for anyone who runs through your bubble? Or does it just make the buff itself last longer for only you (the titan) when you run in the bubble? Cause I'm usually like right there by my bubble and just go back in when I lose the buff. I'm not getting it I guess.
