Whether you know him as Bilbo, Watson, or Tim, he's put together an impressive resume of roles that leaves him as part of the UK A-list (I assume). His talent for droll humor will be completely lost on today's SNL, so let's see whether or not he does a good job with a sketch about Bilbo being in Sherlock by mistake LOL! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABhDiXbUaBE Charli XCX is a British pop star, who is currently running on the single above (which we're more likely to hear tonight) but is most known here, likely, for her feature spot in Iggy Azalea's Fancy and/or her contribution to the Fault In Our Stars soundtrack, Boom Clap. Pop tart or no, her general vibe is of the times without feeling like complete sleaze the way Azalea did. I'm interested to see how she holds up on the SNL stage. Coming Up... I'm excited to see him too, both his appearances on Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon this week were quite whetting. Tonight NBC is rerunning Peter Pan Live!, so no SNL Vintage. Neither will there be next week, for the network is rerunning last year's The Sound of Music Live!. Grumble grumble.

That ferguson skit should have been their cold opening instead of that lame Sharpton one we got. So apparently there are funny writers at SNL, but they aren't getting heard as much? That's my guess based on this seasons cut sketches and their timing. I mean has anyone else noticed that the back half of a LOT of the episodes this season have been stronger than the first half? Usually thats when the younger writers get their chances. I'd love to sit in on their writers room/day thing they do... with an airhorn.

I blame Franco for the Ferguson sketch not making it on the air, if he would have held his cool during the groan moment it would have stood a better chance. As for the second, I didn't think it was that funny and they appeared to have extra long breaks during the episode so it could have been cut due to that. e: THere's no I in torture. Considering the content, that could've been put together a lot better. It had no bite. The torture designers have done annoying things too? OK. Also, pretty much an entire political party thinks torture is acceptable. If the writers can't figure out how to extract humor out of that absurdity, they're even worse than I thought. I hope they had something that S&P rejected, because that was weak.
