Worst cartoon about a tragedy: B It was a tough pick between A and B for trying to slam loving golf jokes into serious tragedies. That actually made it descend to a lower level of hell to me. Worst caricature: G There's a special level of pettiness when you realize that everyone ELSE in this category was a politician, and this is a racist caricature of a woman that makes mild criticism of *video games*. And that was Gamergate in a nutshell! All of the godawfulness of our usual crowd, except directed at something with almost zero impact on the world and targeting people who have no real power. Worst "A Thing Happened" cartoon: O Because gently caress YOU MCCOY Worst Label: J You are wrong about everything. Least concealed bigotry in a cartoon: A That took some special effort. It was a race between A and C though McCoy's pettiness towards a dead black kid really pushed him over. Laziest cartoon: A Most easily reinterpreted: A So easy you almost wonder if Bruce had a moment of sobriety when he drew it. let's do this Worst Middle East Cartoon - G Hard start. They're all pretty repulsive and I was very much tempted to vote A or C (for approving of murdering children and calling for genocide), but G wins out because of how insufferably smug, childish and callous it is. Worst Police Brutality Cartoon - F Difficult again, but the cold calculation involved in trying to spin this to serve the small government agenda is just sickening. It wins out over the Allie because it manages to shoehorn 'police as victims' in there. Worst Torture Report Cartoon - G Easier this, because of the reckless disregard of reality. Worst The Interview Cartoon - A This is just a bad cartoon in the technical sense. It's just so bad. Worst cartoon about a tragedy - F B's a close second. Both use the tragedy to score cheap and unrelated points, but F wins because the victims were Muslims as well, you idiot. Worst caricature - C Worst "A Thing Happened" cartoon - C lmao Worst Label - B Has to be a Ramirez, obviously. But which one? Decisions. J's the best label, btw. Least concealed bigotry in a cartoon - All of them, but mostly C I guess Laziest cartoon - J Most easily reinterpreted - B Ramirez once again faces his mortal enemies - the metaphor and painful irony. Overall worst political cartoon of the year - E J with a dishonourable second place. Best edit/parody - E Hmm. E, F or J, for me. E just edges it, imo.

I had a lot of trouble deciding whether "worst" means "worst opinions" or "worst expression of those opinions". Worst Middle East Cartoon: C Ramirez put in a good effort, but Kirschen's combination of really lovely artwork and an open call for genocide takes the crown. We can only hope that the crown is made of angry bees. Worst Police Brutality Cartoon: B This was a tough one but Ramirez edges out Rall and Braco. Worst Torture Report Cartoon: G I almost voted for D, but G's literally-the-opposite-of-reality approach offends me more. Worst The Interview Cartoon: A They're all poo poo but A manages to be both poo poo and incomprehensible label salad. Worst Cartoon About a Tragedy: H There's a lot of vile opinions in this category, and also a lot of "what the gently caress is this even trying to say". But in the end I have to go with Gorrell for lazily making GBS threads out a maple leaf and calling it a day. Worst Caricature: C Do I go with Ramirez's Captain Flatfish, or Kirschen's actual Nazi propaganda? A difficult choice, but in the end A inspired at least some chuckles for its sheer ineptitude while C inspires only loathing and horror. Dishonourable mention to D, which should win the "most easily mistaken for a bag of popcorn" category. Worst "A Thing Happened": D Ramirez makes a good effort with Ebola Gay, but [unreadable squiggle] races past him by turning "a thing happened" into "microsoft employees are literal parasites". Worst Label: G There are worse cartoons overall in this category but DEBT DEBT DEBT DEBT DEBT DEBT DEBT. The only other real contender is K, but that is somehow less visually offensive. Least Concealed Bigotry: C Holy poo poo in the end I just threw a dart  Laziest Cartoon: F Many of these cartoons are the result of basically zero effort on the part of what we laughably call the artist, but this one has the additional bonus of claiming that Turkey is bent on world domination. Most Easily Reinterpreted: B If it weren't signed "Ramirez" I would think this is genuinely and without sarcasm A Good Cartoon. Overall Worst: G It looks like someone threw up on my monitor. Worst Middle East Cartoon: E There were a lot of terrible ones, but that one just barely edged out thanks to the twofer of "what the gently caress is wrong with you". Worst Police Brutality Cartoon: G The whole thing with de Blasio and the NYPD has pushing all my "gently caress the police" buttons since it started, so that one was kind of a no-brainer. Worst Torture Report Cartoon: I Barely edged out B by virtue of a Feinstein caricature that makes even less sense than Wormbama. Worst The Interview Cartoon: B The lazy racism is what pushes this past the others. Worst cartoon about a tragedy: C There were a lot of valiant efforts, but the decision to literally portray black people as dogs gave C that extra little bit of Stormfront spice. Worst caricature: A And this is the only caricature that makes less sense than the Feinstein one in my vote for Worst Torture Report Cartoon. (Although G was very nearly a tie.) Worst "A Thing Happened" cartoon: P Probably the hardest category to make a decision on, but the decision to split the Thing between two different (yet very nearly redundant) bits of text, and then shove one of them into a tiny box at the corner, was inspired in its shittiness. Worst Label: G There were a number of cartoons with too-long labels and a number of cartoons with too many labels, but only Ramirez could find a way to shoehorn the word "debt" into that many places. Least concealed bigotry in a cartoon: C I was originally going to vote for D. But as I was writing this, the cartoon somehow managed to pull off an integer overflow of bigotry by leaving me confused as to precisely what stereotype it was attempting to reinforce. C both made it obvious and had a terrible caricature, so it won out in the end. Laziest cartoon: K Again, several valiant efforts, but K got the nod by simply not caring enough to find a photograph that lacked JPG artifacts. Most easily reinterpreted: D I assume the cartoon was supposed to be something about amnesty, but instead it managed to straddle the line between "Nonsense, this is an election year" and Asay-esque "how is this a bad thing". The result was something that's impossible not to reinterpret. Overall worst political cartoon of the year: I Rather than explain why this one got my vote (because seriously), I'm just going to say that the fact that it got my vote is the reason I didn't vote for it in any other category. May as well give the second-stringers a chance. Best edit/parody: E What can I say? I'm a sucker for Who Framed Roger Rabbit? jokes.
