When I watched anime as a kid because it was cartoons that was super violent. When you are 10 and you watch a guy get ripped to pieces and his best friend turned beast running off with an arm in its mouth hissing at everyone. Its pretty badass to a 10 year old.

In the US we spend millions of dollars on big budget action and sci-fi films. Because so much money is spent, few chances are taken. In Japan, they make anime. It costs far less and so they are more willing to take chances. As such, anime is for pedophiles.
