I think it's interesting that people are saying Prometheus was a "pretentious" film. I assume that's what they call it now when you bother to composite a shot really nice in your space monster movie.

loving---I know what was missing. We needed a fifteen minute long prologue where Idris Elba filled us in on everything Greek Chorus style so the movie wouldn't be so confusing! "The aliens...... had seeded life on our world....... but abandoned..... their creation............. the old guy..... is on the ship............. he's in, the basement...."

only thing that really bothered me was the bio scientist just loving approaching a loving deadly looking sort of goo animal that lives in a scary rear end tomb cave, and treating it like a puppy and then predictably getting his rear end loving beat not even Steve loving Irwin would've done that What a loving stupid and unrealistic move in a movie full of lovely unrealistic stuff, that was the only thing that really made me check out "Yeah the script says something's gotta happen here, let's ignore how any human would react"

The biggest thing that bugged me about Prometheus was the size of the Space Jockeys/Engineers. I know Scott basically said that he had to shrink them down in size so they would be more film-able in action scenes, but in the Original ALIEN, the Space Jockey was big. Standing upright it would have been like 15 feet tall. So are the Engineers in Prometheus the same species? An off-shoot species? Copying the big Space Jockeys look and tech? If they are the same species, it would be like if you had Darth Vader his original height in Star Wars, then in Empire he was the same height as Luke with no explanation.
