Seeing the Wild and Stars in a place where they are losing 5-4 to average teams is something I would not have predicted, especially from the Minnesota side. Especially since Minnesota does have a positive differential.

A Typical Goon posted:I don't see what people see in Dallas, they aren't good enough to get back in the playoff picture. One line teams with atrocious defended just aren't going to be playoff teams in the West. The goaltending is streaky not abysmal (I pray) and Seguin's scored in bunches, not one a night. 2nd line scoring has been iffy, but they're getting a decent amount of depth production. Klingberg's been good enough to give them 3 NHLers worth of talent in their six. Not that I don't agree with you as tight as the west is. But that's the reason for hope. HFBoards answer: Ritchie will save us.

The Isles irritate me as a Stars fan AND a Leafs fan because it's like "Oh, that's what a team getting goaltending and defense can do off the rush!" Still happy for 'em, though.

Yotes put David Schlemko on waivers, Stars grab him. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that other than Max Fortunus the average age of our AHL defense is like, thirteen. (The 950's PDO is a good bonus, too)

If the Stars can find a way to beat Chicago on a back to back the inevitable collapse is going to be that much harder to tolerate. Can't believe I've seen thirteen goals live in two games this week, holy moly.

The thing that pissed off Dallas fans was the frequency. It was Dominic Roussel and John Klingsmann at least ten times each. At least Jordan Benn is somewhat accurate.

Furnaceface posted:You dont need to Buffalo it up to rebuild, some teams have done quite well just waiting it out and drafting/developing some talent. And just to be clear, I think they have picked up most of a solid young core to build on and should be working on doing something with what they have now. I just find some of their decisions very odd and similar to Winnipeg sticking with Pavelec for the last few seasons. Kari had an amazing first half of 2014, games 1 and 5 against Anaheim excluded. The defense was playing above its head, too. I don't think management saw Kari regressing that much. GM Jim Nill's strategy for building seems to be hoarding assets, never letting players walk for nothing (Unless there was a defensive prospect logjam, like with Connauton) and not overpaying in trades. I'm assuming this last bit was the reason we didn't have any major defensive additions, as the price for right shot D was ridiculous. But that thinking keeps building a better team every year, so I'll be patient until that trend reverses.

Apparently Doan asked for a trade and was told no and is furious about it. Dave Tippett sounds like a guy that wants to be fired in all of his recent pressers. With the five year out clause, the team saying "gently caress this poo poo" and goaltending falling apart... it's gotta be a hard time to be a Coyotes fan, somehow harder than usual.
