Indiana State seems like they might be one of the worst 5-0 teams in Missouri Valley history... Does anyone here have a kenpom subscription? I'm just wondering what their final conference record is projected as, I'm not seeing them finishing better than 9-9. And that is after a 6-0 start, because we all know they will beat Drake on Saturday.

I've come to the conclusion that Jim Larrañaga is a crazy person and I'm glad to have him as Miami's coach. http://caneswatch.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2015/01/15/the-butterfly-effect-how-miami-basketball-coach-jim-larranaga-used-monarchs-to-motivate/

N: ESPN is airing porn V: "I have no ties to the University of Virginia, the state of Virginia, or really anywhere close to the East Coast, yet I’ve fallen head over heels in love with this year’s Hoos. They’re what you’d get if a basketball instructional manual from 1980 came to life. They’re the German national soccer team of college basketball. You could call every basketball junkie over the age of 50 and tell them ESPN is airing porn, and when they flipped over to see Virginia playing, they wouldn’t even notice the difference. If Notre Dame — the best offense in America — can’t crack Virginia’s defense during a game in South Bend, then what hope does the rest of the country have?"

Should I go to the South Dakota at South Dakota State game tomorrow or the Baylor at Kansas State game? Kansas State seems like a no-brainer, but I love those little schools, and USD/SDSU is an in-state rivalry.... Hmm.... edit: I see that KSU charges $10 to park, I assume it is easy enough to park for free on one of those side streets a few blocks away?

I just really like to drive to random college basketball games. I save the longer trips for when my girlfriend has other plans since she is more normal than I am and doesn't like driving 10-12 hours roundtrip in a day. edit: I'll be going to the Baylor/Kansas State game. That loving sucked. You'd think KU would've learned after the Kentucky game that flinging it around the perimeter forever and never forcing the issue on penetration is a good way to lose, but evidently they needed to be reminded in conference play. Pros: KU is still the true winner because they don't play Neil Freaking Diamond after their wins. Cons: Bruce Weber's team is currently winning the Big XII now, and if that jives with you, you may want a CAT scan in the morning.

wazzu vs beavers was terrible boring garbage except for a ~10 minute stretch in the 2nd half. watching oregon st play slow tempo gave me flashbacks to bone-ball except executed effectively. it was a total slog and a snoozefest outside that brief period where the cougs looked like they'd woken up and pulled within 8 but then beavs got the tempo back under control and it was a shitfest to the end. quick return to reality after that oregon game which was Fully Sick. this season is still going better than anyone expected in conference so far, especially after losing to early season cupcakes. very glad to have coach kent and we're clearly on track for steady improvement. things are looking up

Thoguh posted:News: For the first time in probably forever, Iowa State is on a two game streak against Kansas. WOOOOO! I feel like KU is probably still going to win the conference as well, but only by a game. ISU is just more prone to having a bad game than Kansas. ISU is 3-1, and could've been 4-0, but could also easily have been 1-3. So many close games. Now to make sure they don't over look KSU, I don't know how that team is 4-1. Edit: ISU needs to start practicing free throws a lot. Like every game they're under 70% from the line, and this game they were 58%. They're lucky it hasn't cost them more games. God the local media is such poo poo either the problem is the players, the culture of college basketball, or the "unrealistic expectations" of the fanbase. Also in the beginning of the year the team's youth wasn't going to be an excuse, but now it is a "Fact" that they take pride in excusing the team with. I bet now, too, we're going to constantly hear about the bad years of 92-07 after every loss Lessail fucked around with this message at 21:44 on Jan 19, 2015 |
