Just wanted to pop in and say no, Mark Hunt would not beat or be favored against Jon Jones. Like come on.

Mark Hunt would beat all of them.

Last night was just depressing. After round 3 I had DC down 2-1 but really thought he had the momentum and was going to take it to Jon the last 2 rounds and take the belt. But Jon did what always does, and rose to the occasion and dominated with the fight on the line. The only person I could see beating Jon and has a realistic chance to actually fight him is Cain, and with a gun to my head I'd probably pick Jones in that fight too.

Jones is a tool, but the guy is, I guess you could say a "true champion". I realized that when he was down two rounds to one against Gus and was definitely losing the 4th round with about 30 seconds left and then he pulled that elbow out of his rear end to take the round and eventually the fight. He literally couldn't have afforded to lose 30 more seconds of that fight and he didn't. The guy is going to go down as the best MMA fighter of all time weather we like it or not. :(

I'm no expert when it comes to cutting weight but I don't think Cain would have any major issues cutting to 205. I could be wrong though.

Sherdog posters talk about GOATS often. Anytime a new champ is crowned and defends once or twice they start talking about them as being the GOAT. I've heard it about Weidman, DJ, and Pettis.

However educated MMA fans usually only talk about 1 or 2 guys being the best ever, and that is Anderson and GSP. I think it's very safe to put Jones in that category at this point.

I don't think this is a reasonable claim at all. If consistently winning against guys who are just not quite good enough would make Jones GOAT, then Aldo blows his doors off with what he's done.

The only time Jones ever really struggled was against GUS. Last night he was in control most of the fight even.

Oh Vitor almost tapped him. lol.

I think it could be cool to talk about great fighters, but I guess we have to make sure that all the idiots know they're dumb if they consider fighters besides anderson and GSP as the greatest of all time.

I mean none of the fighters you listed have the resume Anderson has and a few of them aren't even remotely close.

By the way, I do agree that a P4P GOAT discussion is a bit tired at this point, but I was just responding to somebody scoffing a few pages back at Jones being looked at as one of the best fighters ever at this point. MMA fans as a whole crown a fighter way too quickly as one of the best ever, but I was just saying that it may be time to in fact look at Jones in that light.

I hope this isn't a case of Jones partying one night, getting popped, and then Dana was all "Listen kid I know you were just having some loving fun but this isn't a good loving look for the UFC so we need you to go to rehab for a little while. Don't loving get caught again."

"Still good" is debatable at that time. Mir had not long before that suffered a quick KO loss to Brandon Vera, and lots of people thought that he'd never recover his old form after his motorcycle accident.

Nick Diaz is a beloved fighter because he has absolutely no filter and has all sorts of screws loose which leads to funny poo poo happening. IE running out of the backdoor of his manager's house to avoid going to a press conference and costing himself a 7 figure paycheck in the process.

If you don't like Nick Diaz you probably are no fun to be around and all the people you think are your friends hate you.

Pointing out that Chris Weidman dominated every minute of octagon time he logged with Anderson Silva isn't being "so pro Weidman it's crazy!" it just means we watched the fight and aren't retarded.

There are still people out there in the Twitter and Youtube universe that think he got lucky. Twice.

i agree with Dangerism that Weidman didn't dominate the couple minutes at the end of round one when he was too tired to keep his mouth closed or manage any output at all. not that it mattered.

Somebody smarter than I, I believe in the UFC July thread of 2013, pointed out that Chris wasn't throwing all that much at the end of the round because Silva had his hands down and was basically trying to lure him into throwing a bunch of sloppy punches out there so he could get his timing down. I'm not saying this is total fact, but I feel like there could be some truth to that.

I like you and Dangerism though. I think the Silva superfans on sherdog and Youtube have gotten me to act hostile toward any questioning of Weidman in those two fights.
