 even better: its cheevos are linked to how big you get the ramdisk and getting all the achievements requires 128 gigs of ram $30 + cost of way too much ram

Improbable Lobster posted:what does it do that regular ram doesn't it's a utility which basically combines steam mover with a ram disk in a simple fashion so basically when you set it up it will copy the game's data folder (or the parts of it you tell it to, it can skip video files and other doesn't-need-max-speed files) to your ram disk and basically give you the fastest possible load times (although since its contents are flushed on boot and it's not that big there would effectively be a "bootup time" as game files are copied to ram). No idea if it gives you a useful bump over an ssd or not

it would only improve load times (after the initial loading to the ram disk), right? because assuming you have enough ram to hold all the game's active data in memory it's not going to be any faster? i can't imagine that the sort of person who buys that product ever actually shuts their game down anyway

i played The Long Dark. its a very chill game about staying alive in the frozen north and i like it a lot. but if you die it wipes your save lol
