Either my ethical compass is completely hosed or the show did a poor job of selling it at the time, but I never thought Raylan being complicit in the death of Nicky Augustine was some grand moral Rubicon. Sammy Tonin was going to have Nicky killed, Raylan gave Nicky an out, Nicky refused and Nicky got shot full of holes. I mean I get why it's problematic in the real world, but on justified where Raylan has participated in shootouts with known criminals like Boyd, well it just felt like another day of business.

Nicky Augustine was a great villain.

It does strike me that season 4 and 5 were viewed similarly while they were airing. The Drew Thompson mystery was never very high stakes, and there was the snake preacher digression, and the aimless subplot with Raylan's off the books money making. The difference is that season four was able to weave its threads together in a satisfying way, while season five did not. Also, at times it felt like season five was geared more towards the little oh poo poo moments, like Boyd detonating Mr. Picker, or the Crowe brother stabbing himself in the head.

Still, any season that gives me Dave Foley, Canadian Mobster can't be all bad. :3:

The thing is Boyd sent one of his guys to help but she inexplicably, or convenience of the plot, to get out of the van. If she had simply listened to Boyd/let the guy go with her, she likely would have had plenty of time to get the body out of the van. She was struggling pretty hard to move it.

Her getting busted was nobodies fault but hers

Plus, the body they were moving was a guy Ava shot, and the reason they had to move the body was because Ava treated Ellen-May like dog poo poo and drove her into the arms of Preacher Billy and his sister.

Though Boyd killing Preacher Billy, trying to kill his sister, and generally antagonizing the Powers That Be in Harlan didn't help matters.

Basically it was a team effort on the part of Crowders, working in concert to gently caress up spectacularly.

Honestly, we should've realized Dewey was a dead man walking the moment Raylan learned he was the link to pinning Johnny's murder on Boyd.

I was rooting for Boyd to win but killing Dewey completely put me off. Despite all of Dewey's gently caress ups, he and Boyd still go way back and Boyd killing Dewey felt like it was Boyd starting to cut all his ties with Harlan. Not cool man, not cool :colbert:

Dewey is the second Commando Boyd's killed. Though Devil had actually sold him out at the time. So in retrospect bringing up Devil was probably a bad idea on Dewey's part.
