Montreal is the best city on the continent and Vancouver is the worst. In conclusion, Canada is a land of contrasts.

They completely renovated that food court recently. The water feature is gone and the floors are white and sparkly and crazy slippery. I think someone went a little overboard with the wax. Then again, it does make the food court more closely resemble a Canadian's natural environment, the ice rink.

How do Canadian people deal with all the jokes about Canada? They always seem to be good natured about it and take it in stride but I imagine deep down there is a seething rage just waiting to bubble over.

Funny people are a pretty important Canadian export so if someone wants to make jokes about us that's totally cool. If they're really ignorant about it we'll just try to correct it or not talk to that person anymore cause those things are both better than getting angry.

This is definitely true, but also true of every solider I've ever talked to of every nationality. Problem with Canada's army is that due to geography and relative population it can only ever function as an auxiliary force to the US (previously Britain). People want to be Batman, not Robin.

I went to a refinery near the oil sands in northern Alberta for work once. There was no nearby city, no hotels, no stores for miles and the "airport" was a plowed field next to a shack in the woods but there was a tim hortons in the refinery's lodge building.
