proof of concept posted:Stuck in traffic is stuck in traffic, the difference is in LA you're stuck in traffic for like 2 hours minimum if you want to so much as go get groceries yeah the train is pretty good but you obviously have to live near a stop for it to be useful. i'd say i make like ~80-90% of my trips by walking/bike/train, and it's clean and nice. I wish it ran later though, i've gotten stuck downtown after the last train a few times and had to cab it home which blows...

TeeMerk posted:state tax, crippling home prices and so much regulation if I want to start a business instead of working for one. The average home price close to where I live is 1 million, one town over it's 2 million dollars for a ugly rear end rancher style house. The top bracket for the state is 12.3% and most counties have a 9.5% percent sales tax. So basically CA combined both Oregon and Washington's bad state tax system into a single state. etalian fucked around with this message at 17:18 on Jan 10, 2015 |

imo the chicken thing is really good because we raised chickens when I was a kid and some of them were really nice chickens and they really shouldn't be crammed into tiny cages all day because that's sad. I'll pay a buck more to know those filthy animals are cage free.

Benny the Snake posted:I just got an earful from this douche who's moving to Texas because low taxes, less government, and less illegals and asians. How many people are making a max exodus outside of our state, actually? A decent amount but in the grand scheme of things it isn't that much I think. It could be compared to other states but we still have at least 12 million more people than Texas already. That's more than Ohio. Housing costs are significantly lower in Texas. The total tax burden in Texas compared to CA is about $2000 less per year. For some people that might be enough of a reason to move out of the state but for the most part it's the housing costs that are the big issue here. Then you have the types that find California's gun laws oppressive and tyrannical (I just consider them inconvenient and largely silly) and think of places like Texas as states that "value freedom". Because gun rights are the only freedom that matters. Those people are idiots, though.
