This entire episode is everything you can ask from Dragon's Den. Some really fun inventions, some absolutely insane ideas, and a huge pitch that has them all frothing at the mouth.

I think I saw an update on those golf shoes, and I think that the deal fell through for some reason. Jim said something about the numbers not quite being there. I think they were relatively successful, though, but I guess not terribly so since I don't think I've ever heard of anyone ever buying shoes like that.

It was either posted earlier in the thread or it was in an episode that was posted, but yeah I remember that one. I don't think he got a deal though.

I just watched one the other day where Kevin O'Leary took his pants off on live tv. Of course, he wears whitie tighties. I would post a link but nobody wants to see that.

Oh and there was one where Kevin brings this guy they made a deal with on Dragon's Den to the set of Shark Tank to talk to Mark Cuban about their product. Its some app for hockey teams and fans and he wants Mark to take it on for the Mavs.
Mark takes 1 minute to look at the app and then tells him absolutely no way. You can see in Kevin's eyes that he realizes he made a poo poo deal. I should find that one...

Well, this is different:

http://youtu.be/HonyaZicvmY?t=9m24s

Some guys pitch their book about a real-life story of their harrowing journey through human smuggling.

The dragons are all very taken by it, Robert in particular gets teary.

Here's the twist though. I've been watching all these episodes where Kevin O'Leary is the bad guy, (Crush you like cockroaches that you are!) and Robert is like the nicest guy, the one who even if he shoots you down, he'll tell you he liked your product. (usually, unless its really dumb) Jim can kinda come in-between, but he can be a real hardass sometimes.

Oddly enough Robert feels like their pitch is just charity, and is very against it on moral grounds because its charity (?!?!?!) because his father didn't believe in charity.

Meanwhile Jim is pretty much ready to just give them the money for free, because of how terrible their life experience was. Kevin is also completely willing to give them some money and set up a book deal, charity or not.

Bizzaro Dragons.

Also, Arlene seems to agree with Robert, and he responds with "That's bullshit!" which offends the hell out of her. It does seem like something was edited out, but I'm not sure she was mocking him the way he seemed to think.

I guess Robert was just having a bad day? Hell, all the Dragons end up acting like children in this episode.

Robert is really easy to make angry if he thinks someone is getting something for nothing or is getting a business deal as charity. He has a whole thing about how he started out as a kid on a muddy little farm somewhere in Europe and now he's a big deal through endless hours of hard work so he gets pissed if he thinks someone is getting a free lunch with a sob story. He gets set off that way a few times on the show but yeah that's the biggest.

The charity thing was weird, and it really did feel like something was missing. I think the general impression was that they didn't want to take a part of the business to make a phone call since the story sells itself (although Robert has taken a small cut for this too), but that was a weird implosion of the dragons. The book is actually available on Amazon: http://smile.amazon.com/Price-Freed...rice+of+freedom

my takeaway was more or less that robert didn't think it was a good investment and that it would be insulting to give them money just out of pity (because he/his family wouldn't have wanted charity like that).

This episode starts with milk that tastes like cereal, which is okay whatever. But the sharks get on their case about how they don't want to market it to kids because there's an obesity epidemic and it's 170 calories and 20g of sugar (that they misprinted as 24g). But then the next product is literally just edible cookie dough and nobody gives a poo poo about health. Also, for some reason they balked at being offered $100k for 40% with two sharks despite having dick all for sales, but I guess it ended alright for them.

Edit: The segment after that is really brutal too. Like, drat, I feel bad for that guy (and his insane debt).

I smile whenever I think about that video. It's easily my favourite Dragon's Den pitch. There's so much stuff going on in it: the crazy guy starts his pitch with creepily hitting on Robert, Brett's double take when the building is described as being "365 degrees," the camera zooms in on notes written on spaceship guy's palm, Robert teases Arlene when the "shaft" of the building gets mentioned. It's just perfect.

The way Brett turns the deal (using that word loosely) down is also great. "Sorry, I live in Alberta. Too far of a drive."
