I already know I am not going to get any actual answers but I figured it is worth a shot. According to this poll http://www.statista.com/statistics/189582/age-of-us-video-game-players-since-2010/ 71% of people who play video games are adults. Which really makes sense if you think about it. Video games are expensive, and consoles and PC's are even more so. A kid could easily expect an action figure from a friend on a birthday, but only a parent is going to drop $60+ a few times a year on a game. So at a minimum, a gamer, regardless of strawman being used, would need to be at least working. Also note that regardless of "Every gamer i know is a [blank]" statement, there are gamers who have SO's, regardless of how infuriating that may be. The main point I am trying to understand what inherently is so immature about video games, as opposed to any other medium of entertain being displayed on a screen? The majority of goons watch shows on a screen, you get entertainment and pass time this way. Why does holding a controller change everything? If you are taking a girl home from a bar, and she starts playing candy crush, would you call her "A beta bitch human being gently caress!" and throw her out of the moving cab? If your buddy is showing off his man-cave before 'the big game', and he is listing things off like " 52 inch HD tv, gold monster cables, surround sound.." . And you stand there nodding your head "Yeah man! cool!" , but then he mentions his PS4. Wouldn't you immediately disown him as a friend, and slam his head through the TV screen? Would you point out that monster cables are a waste of money and you get one billion HDMI cables of new egg for that price and then hate him even more because doesn't shop the same way you do? Also, would you think playing video games is nerdy loser faggots but knowing specifically where you'd make such a purchase isn't? I already know the quick answer is "To piss of people on the internet" , but i think there must be more to it to put so much effort into it. The thread about EB games was full of goons straight up thinking they were a aryan superman from nazi text because they chose not to shop at that store, and actually patted their own, and each others back over it. And that went on for pages and pages and pages. The hatred seems too strong just for trolling purposes.

It's a distinction between "gamers" and "people who play video games". It's fine to play video games, but defining yourself by playing video games and having it be your only/main hobby/interest makes you a huge nerd loser. Like almost everyone likes to watch TV now and then but if someone was like "Oh I'm a TVer and I watch 8 hours of TV a day and I'm in a TV guild" they'd be a huge nerd loser too. im gay

It's because people that care a lot about video games are usually nerds with bitch tits and whiny voices. Watching baseball and football are way more retarded ways to spend time than even video games, but they don't have the stigma attached to them because most people that are into watching sports are fairly normal people instead of crybaby shut-ins.

Actual sports fans are pretty chill unless they're otherwise bothersome. Whats annoying is the bandwagoners (often middle aged women...) when your city is winning they turn into apes flinging poo poo at the wall and if you're not with em youre against em.

The dude was screaming at her and cursing her out until she was close to tears and had to pretty much run away from him (she was trying to figure out what bus to take to get around town). Although I guess that's not as bad as all the sports fans who beat up or murder each other because they happen to like watching different groups of men playing a sport. Sports fans are chill though!! Just don't tell them you like a team that is different than THEIR TEAM.
