As a side note, I propose we retire the Divas butterfly belt and bring back the WWE Women's Championship. If we want fans to take women's wrestling seriously, we have to take it seriously ourselves.

Only do this if the retired belt's prestige is higher than the current belts prestige in-game. Prestige on belts is extremely difficult to build. You'd be better off just swapping the images if the Diva's belt's prestige is higher than the retired one.

Also, how does the game map things like MMA? Could we make a play, for example, for big female MMA stars?
The game basically features Bellator guys, MMA fighters over-the-hill or desperate enough to wander off into worked fight territory. The game does not allow for shoots, however you can run an "MMA Crossover" fed with hyper-realist action that is, nonetheless, thoroughly worked. Bob Sapp is in the game as an "MMA Crossover" wrestler.

All of those are probably too low in overness to make an difference but it's a godd starting point.

Board of Investors Meeting, Tuesday Week 1 January 2015, Part 2

Following from our previous discussion (which was quite fruitful), we have a number of other issues to discuss and decide upon.

Matters before the board this morning:
1) Midcard / Jobber Issues
2) Managerial Issues
3) Tag Teams
4) Divas Roster
5) Announcers
6) Firings
7) NXT Contracts

1) Midcard / Jobber Issues

We in creative have some concerns about capturing and maintaining heat in our midcard. If at all possible we want to avoid a late-WCW situation in which the midcard stagnates as the high card soaks up all momentum in the company. As we understand it, wins and losses are immaterial for workers at midcard and below, in terms of building overness with the audience. However sustained jobbing dampens a worker’s ability to regain momentum even as they become more popular, severely hampering our efforts to pull workers up.

In light of this, we have a few options. We can hire low-profile workers to short-term PPA contracts as jobbers for our C-shows (there are a lot of CHIKARA geeks out of work as of this morning), call up our ready but less promising NXT workers (CJ Parker, Viktor, Sylvestor Lefort, Alex Riley) and allow them to soak up losses, or we can stay the course and make do with what we have.

- - - - -

2) Managerial Issues

As the board has no doubt noticed, many of our heretofore successful manager/worker pairings seem to have backfired on us in the new year. El Torito doesn’t click with Fernando and Lana doesn’t click with Rusev. What should we do? Explore new manager combinations or sit down with the talent and hash out the problem (read: hack in to the database and make the bad chemistry good)?

- - - - -

3) Tag Teams

Our tag division is currently in a sorry state and it needs new blood, badly. We have currently have nine teams total, three of which are different combinations of one 3-man stable (The New Day) and one of which is out of commission due to Heath Slater’s time off (Slater Gator).

There are a few things we can do here. One is to stay the course and throw together random jobber teams, and in so doing perhaps come upon chemistry, we can hire established indie teams on PPA contracts to job for us, we can hire established indie teams on written contracts with the long-term goal of refreshing the division entirely, or we can “dilute” our jobber pool by bring up NXT wrestlers we have no plans for and pairing them with low-card wrestlers to create teams.

- - - -

4) The Divas Roster

Our women’s division is likewise quite thin and could use some new blood. Bringing up NXT talent has been suggested but as of now, no female NXT wrestlers have reached a point of readiness (it should be said that several of our NXT women’s division wrestlers are on track to be fantastic workers – Jojo Offerman alone is set to dramatically improve in 14 different skill categories).

We could disregard that and recall Bayley and Charlotte immediately (the former is improving dramatically in training in 2 skills and modestly in 4, and the latter is improving dramatically in 4 and modestly in 4), or we can hire new workers from the indies and our own past (pick at least two). Among those who are willing to listen to offers are:

- (a) Beth Phoenix, a former champion who would be returning from a 3 year absence. She’s 34 and exceptionally skilled, especially for someone subjected to WWE women’s division booking. On hiatus but can be coaxed back. We would likely have to run her in dark matches or NXT for a few weeks to work off her ring rust, but once she’s back in the swing of things she could enter the fray like she never left.

- (b) Cheerleader Melissa, an indie mainstay, modestly over (though AJ Lee, our most over Diva, has the same overness ratings as our least over main eventers), and skilled in the ring.

- (b) LuFisto, a CZW vet who’s an exceptional brawler for a women’s division worker. Has decent skills across the board otherwise.

- (c) Ivelesse Velez, an NXT washout who has nonetheless found her footing in the indies and has strong in-ring and entertainment skills.

- (d) Kharma, a bit older at 37 but beloved as a legitimate monster heel in a division that sees very few of them. Strong brawling skills and psychology and great star quality, but garbage on the mic. Would probably need a good manager.

- (e) Hiroyo Matsumoto, an incredibly strong worker, but relatively unknown in the US and not fluent in English at even a basic level.

- (f) Portia Perez, relatively little-known but a very impressive worker, and young, though apparently aged out of her prime developmental years.

- - - - -

5) Announcers

Let’s call it the Rarity Memorial Lawler Purge. We need to get rid of The King. It’s 2015, he’s 65 years old and his jokes are bullshit. However, his longstanding working relationship with Michael Cole means that his absence will cause a dip in quality. We have a few options: We can keep King on Raw and Smackdown while trying out other announcing combination with Cole on the C-shows – building rapport between Cole and other announcers in preparation for a coup, as it were. We can try out entirely novel announcer combination on the C-shows. We can fire the King immediately and take the hit – JBL and Cole have some experience together so it won’t be a total shitshow at the announcer’s table. Or we can swallow our pride and keep the old man around.

- - - - -

6) The Chopping Block

We also have the opportunity to thin our roster out a little bit, cutting the untalented or people we just will never use. These options include:

- Tony Chimel, a mediocre talker and personality, he does nothing.

- Tom Phillips, a personality who does no job that anyone else couldn't do better.

- Hornswoggle, who has very good entertainment skills but whose typical usage demeans the product (plus he's about as over as an opener worker)

- Christian, who is in a heat rut at the moment despite being in the upper midcard. Getting old and injury prone, but still has elite-tier camera skills.

- Damien Sandow, who despite being a great worker with a lot of appeal and awesome character work, needs a lot of rehab to rise up from the low card.

- Mark Henry, a humble, dedicated and likable worker who is nonetheless growing old and slow. His time may be past.

- Darren Young, a shine on our PR machine and a deceptively strong worker, but another low card worker with a heat problem.

- Zack Ryder, a running joke who won't even be available to job for another several months.

- Alex Riley, a mediocre worker in all respects. Nobody will ever love him.

- Rosa Mendes, the weakest of the Divas by some margin.

- Cameron, whose ceiling is high only if we dpn't take the women's division seriously.

- - - - -

7) NXT Contracts
At this time we can consider adding new, young workers to the NXT fold. William Regal has done some scouting and come up with a shortlist of workers who might be assets for us in the long run:

”You say nepotism, we say wrestling family” hires:

- Blade Hart, strong in most skill categories and only 24.

- Marshall & Ross Von Erich, 22 and 26, respectively. Fairly seasoned as a tag team, wasted as TNA jobbers for a short period. Strong in-ring and performance skills, and Ross is good on camera too.

- David Finlay, Jr, 21 and average in the ring but very strong in his fitness and pretty good on the mic for a 2 year pro.

- Gunnar Calloway, aka the Sondertaker. 21 and sure, he looks like a goon and is average in most respects, but his entertainment and camera skills are strong, and he's all-around great in many different areas of character work. A TV-centric brand like WWE could make this kid a star.

- I was gonna say Evan Singleton but apparently he just sued us

Poachin' from PWG: None of these punks would even be on this roster if they didn't think we'd snatch em up

- Andrew Everett, 22 years old, out with a torn ACL right now but we can help him along with that (or ruin his career, depending on how the dice roll). Strong in performance, physique and ring work.

- Biff Busick, goony dude with the traps. Strong in brawling and fitness, kind of lovely in the entertainment skills. Probably a PWG lifer.

- Brian Cage, definitely the type of bod that drives Vince wild. Good brawler, decent flyer, needs to be put through the mic paces. 31 years old.

- Trevor Lee, young and strong in the ring, otherwise average. A face only a mother could love.

Divas for the Divas Goddess

- Crazy Mary Dobson, 21-year old SHIMMER worker with average stats but, you guessed it, strong heel and crazy character work.

- Mandy Leon, an ROH out-of-ring worker with strong entertainment skills, aged 22.

- Mia Yim, another SHIMMER alum with strong in-ring and entertainment skills. Adept in a number of character work categories.

- Athena, SHIMMER worker, average in most respects but strong in her entertainment skills. Could be made into something.

- Kellie Skater, a very capable in-ring performer who's decent on the mic and in front of the camera.

- Serena Deeb, last seen in the WWE as part of the SXS. Strong worker, strong entertainer. Note that if we hire Portia Perez, they hate each other passionately.

We'll keep voting open til 4 PM tomorrow. Good job team

1) hire low-profile workers to short-term PPA contracts as jobbers and call up Alex Riley
2) sit down with the talent and hash out the problem specifically with Rusev and Lana. Fire Torito.
3) stay the course and throw together random jobber teams when possible, hire established indie teams on written contracts
4) Hire Beth Phoenix and Cheerleader Melissa. Kaitlyn if she's not Out Of The Business. Call up Charlotte.
5) try out entirely novel announcer combination on the C-shows
6) Fire Tony Chimmel, Tom Phillips, Hornswoggle, Rosa Mendes and Cameron. Fire Mark Henry after using his overness to put over our next star. DO NOT FIRE CHRISTIAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. He can be a great Road Agent when he eventually retires, and is GREAT for matches while he is not retired.
7) Hire Sondertaker, Serena, Brian Cage, and Chuck Taylor as previously recommended

Parker and Lefort would be more or less doing the same they were in NXT. If we want to avoid cannibalizing our midcard these are the type of guys they they need to go over.

2) Managerial Issues
sit down with the talent and hash out the problem (read: hack in to the database and make the bad chemistry good)?

I don't see a role for Lana outside her Russian patriot gimmick. She needs Rusev a lot more than Rusev needs her. Find a way to make that work.

3) Tag Teams
hire established indie teams on written contracts with the long-term goal of refreshing the division entirely

If the long-term goal is to revive the tag division, then we need guys who will be here for the long haul.

Ivelesse is doing good work on Lucha Underground and could be a solid heel foil to whoever she works with. Beth is mostly a nostalgia tour but offers name value to a Divas division badly needing legitimacy.

keep King on Raw and Smackdown while trying out other announcing combination with Cole on the C-shows – building rapport between Cole and other announcers in preparation for a coup, as it were.

I am the sexiest poster in the world!
1. Hire low-profile workers. We can get back to having proper jobbers and avoid only being able to set matches where we don't want one of the participants to lose, and statistically one or two of them will probably improve to where they can at least be a lower midcard or midcard talent.
2. Sit down with the talent. We should at least make sure the chemistry that's been working for a year or so works in game as intended. In the future we can play manager lotto all we want though, it'll be fun to see what wacky combinations show up.
3. Hire indie teams on PPA deals. Offer the ones that show improvement or anything else special a written contract, ditch the rest. We have the room in the budget to hire a dozen fresh indie tag teams, but we have limited time (even with 3 hour raws) and want to be sure we're spending that time showing the best talent possible.
4. Hire new workers: Beth Phoenix and Kharma.
5. Try out other combinations on the C shows. Begin the crusader kings 2-esque plot to kill the King in the shadows, where no one will see it.
6. Convert Christian to a manager if possible and run him through the good chemistry lotto. If we stumble into a hot angle, we can still get a match out of him and he can be physical in his interference/getting killed by babyfaces for interfering. We can do one last hot angle for sure with him putting on a retirement match, possibly at Wrestlemania, against Kane or another Authority figure as revenge for threatening Edge. Maybe the Authority kill him after he wins the match and then fires him, nice way to get heat, then Angle brings him back on as a manager/assistant GM, use those good talking skills. Cut Cameron, Keep Rosa since she's too hot to fire :allears:. Cut Chimel, Hornswoggle, and Alex Riley.
7. Snatch up Youngertaker. David Finlay Junior, Andrew Everett, Mandy Leon, Crazy Mary Dobson and Mia Yim. Also, a write-in vote to add Lovin' Nick Lovin to TEW and get him onto NXT.

- Hornswoggle, who has very good entertainment skills but whose typical usage demeans the product (plus he's about as over as an opener worker)

- Blade Hart, strong in most skill categories and only 24.

- Gunnar Calloway, aka the Sondertaker. 21 and sure, he looks like a goon and is average in most respects, but his entertainment and camera skills are strong, and he's all-around great in many different areas of character work. A TV-centric brand like WWE could make this kid a star.

- Andrew Everett, 22 years old, out with a torn ACL right now but we can help him along with that (or ruin his career, depending on how the dice roll). Strong in performance, physique and ring work.

- Crazy Mary Dobson, 21-year old SHIMMER worker with average stats but, you guessed it, strong heel and crazy character work.

- Athena, SHIMMER worker, average in most respects but strong in her entertainment skills. Could be made into something.

- Kellie Skater, a very capable in-ring performer who's decent on the mic and in front of the camera.

PS all new hires, at least those with written contracts of any sort, will be given new names in standard WWE fashion. I can't promise they'll be great, but they'll be ours, and isn't that what counts?

1: Hire local indie jokers as jobbers, it's the one thing IRLWWE is doing right with Ascension. Cycle older or more likely to be broken workers down with the promising up-and-comers that can grab a brass ring and forsake their Millenial nature over them. Christian's basically out of action for good but that doesn't mean he can't give it up for someone else, preferably a safer worker.
2: Hack that poo poo to make it reflect reality.
3: Throw random people into teams and see what works well on C shows and dark matches.
4: Rehire Beth and main roster her at a PPV or post-PPV Raw or something since she'd probably get a returning pop. Hire Hiroyo and stick her with a manager, I'm sure Lana can find a place for another foreign gimmick and see where that goes.
5: Keep King but add Kevin Nash to the announce table on a C show and see how he does, if it works out then do something like make King a manager (IRL he still seems to have some degree of good-will with non-smarks so I'm sure we can find a place for him)
6: Chop Tony Chimel, Tom Phillips, A-Ri, and Rosa. Ship Cameron down to NXT and if she can't improve chop her, and cycle an NXT up in her place. Give Mark Henry one last run ending in a retirement match against someone promising. Don't you dare fire Christian or Damien. Zack can probably be salvaged and Darren probably has some potential. I've seen people throw around R-Truth but he's good and could probably be recycled into a manager if we can't warm him up as a wrestler.
7: Sondertaker, Von Erichs, Cage; Dobson, Yim.

I don't care how but Nash needs to become the new announcer.

Oh it's happening. He's poo poo at announcing but he'll make good colour.

Also turns out that Bryan's injury actually does preclude him from cutting promos or even appearing in videos. Maybe we should simply have him work on his ring rust in dark matches the week prior to the Rumble and debut him in the match itself? Hardly a surprise I guess but he'll need to shake out the cobwebs somehow.

ALSO I forgot to check the Divas title holder but I remembered doing so (because I had checked... in the August 2014 version). Our current Divas storyline does not include the champion, Nikki Bella. We can always insert her and make it a triple threat.

That's because any appearance of him requires him to actually be able to lift both arms.

Jesus Christ AJPW really wants Nash and are pushing up our price incessantly. He's definitely worth it, but still. 20k per month.

I'm putting it all in the next investor call but lollll was hiring a bunch of jobbers a bad move

*actually, perhaps not all that bad. In a nutshell, hiring a handful of PWG / ROH mooks to fill out the low card has caused push inflation - for example, Finn Balor started as an opener, and now with so many Adam Pages and AR Foxes for people to not give a poo poo about, he's in the midcard one week into his debut. However this has also caused some midcarders to become upper midcarders (Jack Swagger, Luke Harper) and upper midcarders to become main eventers (Big Show and Miz). At this point our young hot talent should have no trouble netting wins, but the guys who used to be in the midcard and were fine jobbing on every third show could now possibly get pissed at us for not having them go over every other show. We'll talk about it at the meeting.

Also the seismic shift in pushes and subsequent dissatisfaction with "being better than my push" has caused an epidemic in minor morale issues among the roster. Vince is planning on disembarking in a hot air balloon and dumping bags of loose dollar bills over the assembled locker room to fix this.

Now all we have to do is deal with 90% of the NXT roster asking to be called up in unison

poo poo how did I miss this

Oh well I'll get in on the next vote :getin:

e: poo poo I misread the earlier post about hiring jobbers and though voting had closed

1. Midcard/Jobber issues: stay the course. Never give up! Never surrender!
2. Managerial issues: Explore New Manager Combinations, with the exception of Lana/Rusev, who you should edit. :colbert:
3. Tag Teams: Random jobber teams. Meh
4. Divas: Hire just Melissa and Hiroyo to NXT,, but also Call up Charlotte immediately
5. Announcers: Keep King on Raw while auditioning others on the C-shows.
6. Cuts: Chimel, Phillips, Henry, Riley, Rosa, and Cameron
7. NXT: Offer Hart, the von Erichs, Finlay, Calloway, Everett, Crazy Mary, and Mandy. C'mon, y'all! This should be a youth movement! We want people who are gonna be on TV for 10, 15 years, not some over the hill 30somethings!

So uh, should we be planning Wrestlemania already? I think we should. We already seem to be building to Bryan-Lesnar as the main and Ambrose-Rollins as the 2nd main... we should probably keep the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royale because it's awesome, we need a good divas title match, that leaves room for what, 3 more? 4 more matches? And we've got a lot of upper midcarders and main eventers who need something good to do.

Sounds like we need to turn around and fire all those jobbers! Or we can just let people like the Miz keep riding the jobber express and only lose to people like Big Show. Anyway, do whatever you need to do to preserve our apparently super delicate ecosystem.

We haven't had Bryan return on T.V. yet. If there's no way to get him ready completely off of the public eye, ala the Rock's training, then do the dark matches and have him show up in the Rumble with no mention in the weeks previous as a big surprise return. Bryan did a good job of keeping his health status under the radar, at least in terms of when exactly he'd be back, and if he hadn't come back recently and showed up in the Rumble as a surprise PSP would FREAK OUT. I suggest we go with the surprise route, or at least as much of a surprise as we can, for our simulated Rumble. Basically, it's John Cena's surprise return in 07-ish with Bryan instead, and since a surprise return hasn't won since Edge and it's Bryan winning it should go over well.

Random Jobber and NXT teams

Novel announcer combination on the C-shows

Divas- Serena Deeb, Mia Yim, Ivelesse, Melissa

Daniel Bryan dark matches until the Rumble

Next time I see that woman, I'm shooting her, and not in the knee.
1)Hire lower profile workers to short term PPA contracts as jobbers. Might find some gold in them there poo poo.

2)New Managerial Combinations. Half the fun is seeing how this stuff goes off the rails. Also, if we can break up the Matadores, give Torito a push. He's so good.

3)Indie teams on written contracts

4) We should hire...

5)try out entirely novel announcer combination on the C-shows. William Regal + Tensai supremacy 5 lyfe

6) We should fire...

- Tony Chimel, a mediocre talker and personality, he does nothing.

- Hornswoggle, who has very good entertainment skills but whose typical usage demeans the product (plus he's about as over as an opener worker)

7) We should sign to NXT...

1. Job out the NXT drek. Who knows, they might come into some success out of nowhere?

2. Hash out the problems.

3. Established Indie tags.

4. Bring Kharma back as a Heyman Gal. He could do a pretty awesome job putting over a monster diva. Maybe make the division feel more legit.

5. Have Cole mix with the other tables for a Lawler coup.

6. Cut Tony, Hornswoggle, Rosa and Cameron, add Torito too.

7. Bring on Sondertaker, Mandy Leon and Athena. I have no idea about the other people.

Sounds like a successful fix to the problem of our roster needing upward mobility! Have Nash give everyone a speech about the value of money and your place on a roster and that should fix any morale issues about pushes, and if it doesn't fire them for not listening to a true sage.

1) Midcard / Jobber Issues

Unleash the JOB Squad.

- - - - -

2) Managerial Issues

Tweak the chemistry.

- - - - -

3) Tag Teams

Our tag division is currently in a sorry state and it needs new blood, badly. We have currently have nine teams total, three of which are different combinations of one 3-man stable (The New Day) and one of which is out of commission due to Heath Slater’s time off (Slater Gator).

Stay the course with midcard tag teams. Maybe even start a tournament, so we can gauge the long term chemistry of some of these teams.

- - - - -

5) Announcers

Shuffle him to Smackdown.

- - - - -

6) The Chopping Block

We also have the opportunity to thin our roster out a little bit, cutting the untalented or people we just will never use. These options include:

- Hornswoggle

- Zack Ryder

- Alex Riley

- Rosa Mendes

- Cameron

R-Truth as well.

- Gunnar Calloway, aka the Sondertaker. 21 and sure, he looks like a goon and is average in most respects, but his entertainment and camera skills are strong, and he's all-around great in many different areas of character work. A TV-centric brand like WWE could make this kid a star.

Poachin' from PWG: None of these punks would even be on this roster if they didn't think we'd snatch em up

Divas for the Divas Goddess

- Crazy Mary Dobson, 21-year old SHIMMER worker with average stats but, you guessed it, strong heel and crazy character work.

- Mandy Leon, an ROH out-of-ring worker with strong entertainment skills, aged 22.

- Athena, SHIMMER worker, average in most respects but strong in her entertainment skills. Could be made into something.

- Kellie Skater, a very capable in-ring performer who's decent on the mic and in front of the camera.
