I wonder what Herr Kaleun's reaction is going to be the next time he checks the map screen. And that miss was a thing of beauty: it was so close that the prow of the ship almost clipped the torpedo's propeller.

We stumbled upon a Large convoy! I'm going to need help tackling this one. Oh no, the warship previously must have hit our ballast or something because we just keep going down. The attack was somewhat successful, 50% of torpedoes fired were hits and one definitely sunk ship. Now to see if the warships get us. E: We also found an enemy sub! And we're 20 minutes from docking at Kiel, as we return we see a friendly submarine exiting on the path we used. Godspeed, brave fellow U-boat! Thanks for watching the first full patrol, we had a few touch and go moments but overall it worked fine. I'm going to fiddle around with some solutions for the "I'm not there and we're going to die soon" situations, but I think I'm going to (on stream) play a bunch of Star Wars games until the next patrol. : Next patrol. Also, I've been streaming regularly, and so far I've done: A good chunk of Republic Commando. Some Dragons Dogma. The entirety of Ace Combat Zero, the Belkan War! And more, that I haven't been bothered to set as a video because it wasn't very good. Some time next week I'll be doing Ace Combat 5, and will play more Dragons Dogma in the interim. Basically I'm churning out tons of low-quality high-quantity content. I'll add these links somewhere into the OP or second post. Thanks to radintorov for giving advice for most of the games on the stream, somehow you know little tidbits of very helpful/interesting information for every game that I've played. Some time in the future, I'll probably do an Ace Combat Megathread with actual quality, but for now I'll just play them on stream. A capture card is actually very handy if your modern TV doesn't support RGB Composite or Component input, since it can convert it all to HDMI. Also you guys should go check out Ace Combat Zero's soundtrack it's the best thing to grace anybody's ears it is really good and I will gush over it for years to come can we get a vinyl for the gramophone of it?

Some day I'll get around at making that ACAH LP I've always wanted to do. Just need to actually finish the game and find the will to do it. You'd probably have to use a capture card in this case as well because none of the PS2 Ace Combat game really works that well in an emulator for various reasons and will always glitch out or have some glaring issue which makes it neigh unplayable. If I recall right in ACZ's case it was hit boxes bugging out while with AC5 it was ground textures freaking out. I'm still holding to my opinion that the ACAH soundtrack is amazing and while not as great as 5 or 0 is still a loving solid AC soundtrack.

Oh I love the ACAH soundtrack, particularly Dogfight. I do love the part where it cuts into the main Ace Combat theme, and it does it in such a fantastic way that it feels like every time I enter DFM that particular section starts up. I really do believe my purchase of a capture card was very much justified. Whilst on the topic, the only real faults with ACAH are the gunner missions and the AC130 missions, and the ground attack is a bit lovely. A HAWX style mechanic would've been great, and if it had a PC version I'd totally st-- Oh, yeah. Capture card. I should pick up the Xbox version of HAWX. Also, the emulation issues with the Ace Combat games are no longer present, just get the latest build of PCSX2. You need to use Software mode I believe though, to avoid issues. Also Zero has the best soundtrack by far, 6 is the worst.

If we finish it before Sunday, I've also acquired Sub Command, Fleet Command and Dangerous Waters. These are modern ship sims, including submarines. I have no clue how they work. Okay, twelve days to go. A friend of mine is on her way to Gibraltar next month, and will be taking photos of some of the cool stuff out there. These reconnaissance photographs will help us greatly for our infiltration, which I've penned in for late July, early August. By then, exam season is over and I'll have the free time to sit next to my computer 24/7 to avoid British patrols. As an intermission, here is this month's "Nightclub" meeting, courtesy of SH3 Commander, with my own additions of course. Erich : We were trying to find a convoy in heavy fog last month. They started to come out of the fog all around us, no more than 300 metres away! I think they were more scared then we were - through the UZO I could see men running around on their decks in a panic to alert the escorts. Werner : Kretschmer sank the Destroyer 'Daring' in the North Sea! (Us): I accidentally destroyed a Norwegian warship on the coast of England through a surface action, and also stumbled into a British convoy on the coast of Norway. I was drunk so we'd accidentally travelled two days northeast of Dundee. Erich and Werner: Doenitz : Lets send you to Norway, maybe this time you'll find the Brits there! Your new patrol is grid AN23, and your operational objective after a 24 hour patrol of the grid is reconnaissance of Norwegian ports for Operation Weserübung. Resources permitting, surveillance of British ports to judge their response time may also prove useful. HerpicleOmnicron5 fucked around with this message at 17:24 on Mar 7, 2015 |

If I get time though, I'll probably be streaming Space Hulk Ascension, (modded)Fallout New Vegas or Pacific Theater of Operations 2 for the SNES. It'll likely be Friday or the weekend. Oh, and a very quiet member of the crew may have something cool to share, I'll let him share exactly what it is. HerpicleOmnicron5 fucked around with this message at 22:26 on Mar 17, 2015 |

Captain's Log, 20/03/1940 Roughly 24 hours ago, we left the port of Kiel. Many people were gathered there to see us off, and even the Prinz Eugen (Or was it the Scharnhorst?) was there to bid us farewell. After a long period of time at port, we finally encountered the good old cook, CirclMastr. It turns out, that during our time at port he discovered a new game. It was named, "Das NetRunner". I, using my superior leadership skills as a glorious kapitan of the Kriegsmarine's U-boot waffe, defeated the capitalist corporation. Roughly a half hour earlier, we spotted a merchant vessel at long range, 350 degrees of our bow. I am beginning a chase, and will write up a full contact report for the next day.

Contact Report 20/03/1940 - 21/03/1940 At 13:45 Shipboard time, we spotted a merchant ship. As the captain was on Das Potty, the contact was lost. After half an hour attempting to regain the contact, the search was called off. Status Report 21/03/1940 Commencing patrol of grid AN23. We've made good time reaching the position, and will be in place for reconnaissance missions in the near future. We received six messages. U-32 contacted BdU whilst we were in port, notifying them that they are low on fuel and torpedoes. They were ordered home. U-34 was also low on fuel. They were ordered home. Same to U-30. We've sent a status report, telling BdU that we are in position.

Captain's Log 22/03/1940, Morning. Oberfahnrich Jobbo Fett has disappointed me for the last time. Not only did he fail to spot any contacts in the past few days, last night he decided to hide inside the u-boat instead of keeping watch. As the Watch Officer, that's a big deal. Here, I should have put him back on the watch deck. Whenever you submerge, the deck crew enter quarters automatically and they all come out except for the watch officer. This means we got no contact reports even if we did see something. We'll remain on station for the entire week, and begin infiltration of the Norwegian fjords on the weekend.

One thing you don't want to hear when ordering an emergency crash dive is that the electrical engines shut down because they lacked enough crew to operate them. radintorov fucked around with this message at 14:00 on Mar 22, 2015 |
