Some new games are good but most of them loving blow. You could replace the word "new" with any chronological reference and that sentence would still be true. Most games have always sucked, do suck, and always will suck. It's always been about finding the gems in a sea of turds.

Combat in Morrowind sucked but basically everything else about it was 10x cooler than Oblivion or Skyrim. All the later games did was raise the combat up from "poo poo" to "bad" while making almost everything else worse.

I think we can settle on Morrowind combat being worse mechanically, but better in execution than Oblivion.
