I found a stetson that legit looked good on me (a miracle because of my big rear end head) in Toronto but I didn't buy it because we were moving to the prairies in like a week and I didn't want to be the rear end in a top hat from Toronto in the stetson. I'll always remember you, Toronto Stetson, and the 5 minutes we had together at the mall.

Northern people think southern people are lazy southern people think mexicans are lazy. Northern people think southern people wear silly hats southern people think mexicans wear silly hats. Northern people make fun of the way southern people talk, southern people make fun of the way mexicans talk. i feel like all the souther/northern stereotypes are comparable to southern/mexican stereotypes.

joat mon posted:As in Stetson, the hat company founded by a guy from New Jersey who built his hat factory in Philadelphia? yeah i just read about stetsons from wikipedia, apparently it was the biggest hat manufacturer in the world at some point and why i thought the term meant those cowboys hats in general is probably product placement from the time those cowboy stories i read were made

I see them all time in Oklahoma and Texas. Mostly in the rural areas though. You know, where there are cows and Saturday night rodeos. A lot of the big wigs in the oil field haul them around in their trucks too.

Tons of people in Oklahoma love to cosplay as cowboys for some reason. They all have pickups. They all talk funny. I dunno when CowboyCon is but it seems to have a lot of attendees looking forward to it.

Cowboy hats are for cowboys, and all that poo poo happens out west. In the south we all wear those little confederate army caps like this:

'Normal' people don't wear them anywhere in the southeast. I think it has to be a state with some bygone-day cattle-driving tradition. So basically, nowhere east of the Mississippi.
