This game is so TellTale it hurts. But you can tell it's a knock-off brand because the facial animation is a couple steps down, with no real lip syncing or emoting. Motion captured animation looks good, I didn't see anyone with the unnaturally stiff shoulders that marks a bad mo-cap job, and they probably got real actors cause characters can use their body language to get their feelings across pretty well.

I can't really comment on the story because it's all build-up with no payoff right now, and the preview trailer looks like that'll continue for a bit. I do like how time-travel is both a story and gameplay mechanic, in fact the game blends the two so well that it's nearly impossible to separate one from the other. Very cool stuff, I'm looking forward to the next episode.

Between this, Game of Thrones and Borderlands, it's looking like a very good year for point-n-click adventures.

Every single group you talks to loves her but basically describes a different person, it's with so many people that it's pretty much impossible that she could have mastered everything they claimed unless she was awake 24/7. Then the game has you do the exact same thing as Max in order to gain their friendship, finding out their buttons then rewinding time to press them and make people like you without ever directly correlating the two

I played episode 1 yesterday and loved it. If Deadly Premonition is Twin Peaks: The Game from Cooper's perspective this is it from, say, Donna's perspective. But with super powers. Chloe's dad is sinister as gently caress but I bet he turns out to actually be trying to protect the town from something totally evil. Also I'm making it my mission to dick Victoria over as much as possible. What's the deal with Kate? The journal makes out like they're really good friends but their interactions in the game feel awkward as hell, like they don't really know each other.

Though holy crap is the lip syncing bad in this. It's like... Original half life bad at times. It really lets the decent acting and reasonably good writing down.

I want to play episode 1 again already cos, unlike Telltale games, I feel like I've missed a tonne of stuff.

The game feels like Twins Peaks meets Veronica Mars. I played with one of my friends who actually studied photography. The game mentions quite a mix of different photographers and schools of photography. Max seems to like photojournalists and she compares the Victoria character to fashion photographer Richard Avedon.

It feels a lot more polished than any recent Tell Tale game, especially on a technical level. Life is Strange's performance and stability is good. The areas are bigger and my finish time was twice of any TellTale episode. The UI is quick and easy to navigate (at least on PC). The art direction and the sound design is very impressive. It has one of the best uses of a licensed soundtrack I've seen in quite some time. There is also a surprising amount of optional commentary and failure states. Understandably, this game wasn't self-published and instead had the backing of a large publisher.

I do have the feeling, since twists are "in" these days, that the rear end in a top hat security guard will turn out to be totally right.

Also I dunno if everyone realized this but the "kids don't talk like that" lines come from the game being written by Frenchies and I guess not being properly proofread by a Real American. You'd have to be literally like 60 to be an American and write some of those lines. Well not really, but you wouldn't capture the indie aesthetic with the music and the personalities but then randomly gently caress up by having some girl say "hella" way too much.

Also what kind of elite American school lets a hobo in an RV sit in their parking lot all day? :iiam:

Is there a way to interact with the guy in the RV? Max wouldn't walk past his guard dog, and then in the ending sequence he had his own scene like I was supposed to know who he was.

Nah, that scene was basically just a big "you thought that was a throwaway moment" teaser. I'm going to do a separate run where I don't write on his window. :ohdear:

I wonder how genuine they're being with the "that will have consequences" prompts, like erasing the insult on Kate's board or letting that guy put your sketch online.

Hadn't even heard about this game until today, now I'll definitely keep it on my radar for when more episodes are released. I loved Gone Home and Mass Effect and the first season of TWD, so this kind of seems right up my alley. I also enjoy any video games about totally mundane stuff.

I know a lot of people who don't play wow but post on places like 4/8chan/reddit and exclusively type kek instead of lol

I dunno the voice over when you find the first note and the overall ubiquitous nature of the references to it made it seem to me like it probably wasn't a joke, but maybe I am just dense. Who knows!

I'll give you a definite maybe.
I enjoyed the first episode, but I kinda wish that there had been some sort of climax in it relating to the choices I made as opposed to just setup for later events. I enjoyed the game, mind you, but those miniature climaxes are important for episodic games to leave me with a good experience while I wait for the next episode. That's something Telltale has gotten much better at since The Walking Dead.

It's so weird I thought I was I liked explored everything possible and it's like I missed big scenes like

[spoilers[ Max confronting Cloe about the stolen gun

Whatever the hell the RV with the guard dog is, I have no clue where'd that be located [/spoilers]

I heard someone in the PSN topic talking comparing it to Alpha Protocol where'd you had to actually discover a lot of the plot beats yourself then just make the right decision.
I really enjoyed this game though and I cannot wait for this to blow up in popularity.

I've just started playing this but man does this look awful on my computer. It's an ancient piece of crap so I was expecting to play on the lowest graphics settings but I wasn't expecting loads of graphical glitches. About one in every three people have technicolored eyelashes which is rather distracting and a bunch of the ambient textures seem to be glitched out, resembling checkerboards. Still enjoying myself though.

One thing I will say is they did a fantastic job on the clothing choices. I see a lot of highschoolers in day to day life (not in a creepy way, I work like one street over from one in a kind of upper class area) and the developers nailed the look of modern rich/upper middle class kids, at least the ones from my area.

I have a hard time with these kinds of stories. You have a god-like power and could do almost anything with it and this is what you do? The movie Chronicle was right in the direction it tried to go but dammit...

I really hope the "I'mma get back at Lisa cause she's a mega bitch to me and doesn't appreciate my lovely tumblr, mah!" isn't enough to turn me away cause I think Telltale needs some competition (like maybe from a game where choices actually matter), so let's hope this is it.

I really wasn't feeling this game in the beginning. I know the protagonist is a high school girl, but I really hated the high school girl stuff. The story started taking shape towards the end though and I started to enjoy it, I hope it continues with that in future episodes.

Yah. If you don't water the plant it later jumps out from a shadow and shanks you 26 times before you have a chance to reverse time. It hides your body in a dumpster and sets it on fire, viking funeral style.
