That and making a suicide humvee were the only real reasons to use c4. In bf42 it was land mines. I got blown up so many times on the runway because someone felt entitled to a b17.

Oh the glorious power of C4. Got a annoying teammate you want to kill but FF was off?

Pack 3 or 4 C4 at his feet when he is standing still sniping or not paying attention. The Force of the blast will launch him into the air and result in suicide due to falling damage.

I assume that this hadn't been patched out.

In BC2 there was that map with the huge wind turbine that people'd jack the helicopter and waste getting up there to snipe from

I once took the helo and lawnmowered them all with the rotors :jihad:

Speaking of choppers it was Hilarious that the BC2 transport could out fight the attack chopper if your gunner was a good shot with the minigun. If he was an engineer he can swap seats to repair in mid air. You basically became a flying fortress.

Also the M95 was the key to getting someone out of a jet too. But in BF2 the order in which you connect to the server determined who had the highest prioirty to get in the vehicle.

That didn't matter though since 90% of BF2 was this

Go to 5:55 for glitching fun. Honestly, the Special Forces expansion was the best with the zip lines and grappling hooks and its intro movie . The BF2: Armored Fury/Euro Forces(included with patch 1.5) had some neat maps.

1942 was great although playing the large desert maps again would be tedious to say the least.

BF4 single player was amazing for the amount of bugs it had, I lost count the amount of times I fell though the earth, enemies disappeared, etc..

Hardline looks kind of fun, but I'm sure as gently caress not paying $60 for it.

I have battlefield bc 2 vietnam (I think) on xbox, and I don't have live anymore, so rip vietnam.

Or did I buy it on pc too? I might have to go check.

e: Yeap, got bfbc2 on pc and xbox, only got vietnam for the xbox one

Yep, this game is still better than BF3 (and probably 4, which is basically the same). Unfortunately, due to poorly-written netcode, playing on servers with >80-ish ping makes you unable to hit a drat thing. Oh well. :sigh:

To bad SWAT 4 and AvP2 servers bit the dust those were also pretty good FPS's.

Yeah, once actual points were capped and the Germans spawned on the island, it wasn't as good. Also the Stuka was basically an angry fist of god on that map.

...but that initial party plane clown car adventure was just so much drat fun.

Makes me sad I'll never play it again thanks to the Gamespy shutdown :(

Nah, that one's gone. Planes are mpretty manageable in 4, and not nearly as dangerous to infantry as before. Helicopters you can just bloop whenever with a dumb fire launcher or a tank.

BF1942 blew my tween mind on a 12" crt. made me realize PC was the superior platform. im sure i have some hella rose tinted glasses and it wouldn't hold up as well today but it's worth remembering the BF series used to be really innovative and good instead of terrible

Not much, really. It has a few new gamemodes, but they're mostly only so-so. Heist is bad, Hotwire is fun until the moment everyone figured out you can just tote a rocket launcher everywhere. Apart from that it's basically BF4 with all the things that made it unique ripped out but not much new put in to actually make up for it.

Yeah in 1942 most players don't even notice that the drat thing is getting hammered until the critical alarm starts blaring, and by then it's usually too late.

Even while sinking they still wander off to find a plane to grab like nothings wrong :downs:

****MIC TO THE WILLY***
Forgotten hope was amazing, it was cool to see the niggles from the vanilla game fixed (Russians/japs having the wrong weapons, tank shell arcs, weapon damage).

Pretty much since saving private Ryan I loved WWII , and FH was total WWII porn. Obscure tanks and weapons, such as an stg44 with a scope.

FH2 (bf2) was also good, but I always found the bf2 engine a little quirky. I think they still update it to this day, so like project reality you can jump right in.

Red Orchestra 2/Rising Storm are kinda similar, in that there are huge maps, a conquest-style gamemode, several player classes, a commander role, and the occasional tank. Though note it's much spergier and somewhat slower paced due to the focus on realism. Especially at the beginning it can be a bit frustrating because you're just gonna get shot out of nowhere a bunch unless you get a feel for the maps, and unfortunately I never really made it out of that stage because the game bluescreens all the time on my machine.
