The Thompson Twins tapes we used to listen to.

Also Red Lorry Yellow Lorry's Paint Your Wagon. I think that's goth, I'm not really sure. The only thing I like that I know for a fact is goth is Bauhaus.

Puppy's not goth, puppy's industrial.

You know, I'd be less worried about my 16 year old daughter dating a successful 40 year old cartoonist than dating a 16 year old loser.

I mean, Jesus, kid, at least date a motherfucker with abortion money and house to have sex at where your mother and I don't have to hear it. Also, if he treats her poorly, boom, that asshole's gonna catch a statch charge.

Please, John K. Date my daughter... Save her from dating smelly dropouts who wanna-be Soundcloud rappers.

Half of the internet between 1993 and 1997 was arguments over what was, and wasn't industrial music. Let's chung some Robotussin DM and turn our cars into wayback machines. We need to generate 1.21 giggawatts of electricty we need for the flux reactor to know whether or not Skinny Puppy was industrial.

Puppy's industrial. Unless you're going by the standard that only Throbbing Gristle and Monte Cazazza are industrial. NIN's though, not as cut and dry. We first need to determine if they suck or not.

this is a thread to post your favorite goth rock albums and discuss goth rock. you can also discuss whatever else you want too.

That's too weird. I found that CD in an old box in my storage closet last night that hasn't seen the light of day since the mid 90's. I was listening to it on my way home just now, and stumbled into this thread. Spooky.

Chibi, Falcore and Rainbow. I don't think I could hate a band more no matter how catchy their music is.

Lol if that's what it takes to judge a band.

Ashbury Heights is pretty good too, but they're probably too synthy for most people in this thread:

Yeah, it may seem petty, but gently caress, I dunno, King Dude wasn't a dumb enough nom de rock to make me think less of the guy, but chibi and loving falcore definitely are. Could've just called themselves limahl 1 limahl 2 limahl 3 limahl 4 and limahl 5, at least that would've been, like, ironically funny.

Pretty Hate Machine is definitely industrial because it's just riffing off of Skinny Puppy.

I'd argue that My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult does not strictly fall into "goth" either. They're way too good for that. Same thing with Clan of Xymox, although to a slightly lesser degree.

But if we are going by the "anything remotely associated with black clothing is goth" definition I get to post this:

I don't see how people get away with calling them Industrial or Post-Punk either. Unless you're talking about the really old stuff they did 15-20 years ago before they reformed they're simply "indie rock".

Genuinely good music regardless of genre, gives me chills to listen every time. I'd regularly listen to it and about halfway through go on amazon and read the reviews to see how other people were enjoying it and the reviews were universally positive.
