I've seen shit you people wouldn't believe. Cop cars on fire off the shoulder of I-94. I watched search lights glitter in the dark near the Ambassador Bridge. All those moments will be lost in time, like piss in the drain. Time to retch.
I don't see much of a difference between Goth Rock and Post Punk anyway. I've always lumped bands like Echo, The Church, even The Smiths in under a black laced parasol.
On the subject of Gothic dispositions lasting into adulthood, I think it makes sense in that it's root is a kind of jadedness one typically grows into rather than out of. That's not to say it isn't a phase for most, but I'd like to think those who move on were only ever drawn to the melodrama.

Though as much Cocteau Twins as I've been listening to lately, The Cure is still my favorite band and has been since 8th grade so it's hard not to say Disintegration or Wish maybe.

You know, I'd be less worried about my 16 year old daughter dating a successful 40 year old cartoonist than dating a 16 year old loser.

I mean, Jesus, kid, at least date a motherfucker with abortion money and house to have sex at where your mother and I don't have to hear it. Also, if he treats her poorly, boom, that asshole's gonna catch a statch charge.

Please, John K. Date my daughter... Save her from dating smelly dropouts who wanna-be Soundcloud rappers.

Is it weird that I love both The Misfits and Danzig, but have never cared for Samhain?

No dude. Samhain is poo poo. It sounds like a bad parody of The Misfits weakest (or least catchy) songs. It doesn't have the kick-rear end 70's biker rock feel that solo Danzig has either.

Whoa, I'm digging the Trust stuff posted. Anyone got any other modern synthpop bands to check out?

I mentioned Ashbury Heights before. They're both synthpop, but Trust just has this totally different (awesome) vibe.

Ashbury Heights is a lot more acerbic, cold & cynical-sounding. But if you like synthpop, give them a look. The first album is definitely gothier. The second one is hella-poppy sounding, but lyrically still sardonic and dark.

Different track from first album (nsfw thumbnail): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he-fcspRmQQ

Second album: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYvzg6Y6Ma0

Third album should be out in a few months.

Trust is as far as I know pretty darn unique with their synthpoppy take on coldwave. As far as good dark-ish synthpop acts that are still active I can really only think of And One, but their style is much more EBM meets Depeche Mode.

Related to Trust is Austra. So much that they shared a band member. She quit to go to Austra full-time though before the second Trust album though.

I think the first Austra album is pretty drat sweet, but the second one is less cold-wave.
