what's it about anyways? all the indie art house film places around here are showing it so that made me automatically assume it was a horrible movie

yeah, it's a slice of life movie but from what ive heard nothing interesting happens at all so none of the cast/reviewers are able to say anything about it except that it took 12 years to make and is super artistic and creative and wonderful and has never been seen before (because it took 12 years to make) the moral of this story is that pretty much any art industry is a gigantic circlejerk as people try to outclass one another which is especially funny for movies since they were created as, and largely still are, entertainment for the lower classes of society

if they made a movie about me it would be all 12 years of just me sitting there playing world of warcraft and being really boring i wonder if that happened would Angelie Jolie and her army of african kids still give me an award for that or does it need to be more about nature and grass and mountains and stuff

The best thing about the situation surrounding Boyhood is it's not a concept that Hollywood is going to take the idea of and run into the ground. Or if they do, we wont have to deal with it until 2027.

I like Richard Linklater, but his dialogue needs to to be spread out over at least 20 characters and run no longer than 90 minutes or it gets pretty tiresome (I'll give the Before Sunrise movies a pass on this rule)

A lot of people in the film Industry do like it, but not all of them.
