Any of you guys remember battlegrounds mod? My mate made a lot of the content for battlegrounds 2. It's a great fun game, one shot that is affected by physics, then an 8 second reload you can't turn off. Also spergelords doing real formation fire

yeah your post reminded me i haven't installed it on my new computer yet, downloading that poo poo now. love me some napoleonic wars. there's a civil war mod too called like war between the states or something but there's only one server and it's locked unless youre a member of some obscure rear end clan thing

Hostile Intent was also pretty cool. It was the typical counter-terrorism thing except it played more like Rainbow Six instead of Counter Strike.

so i put this feeler out earlier in the thread but did anyone play Science and Industry? one of the top HL1 multiplayer mods imo. the idea was basically a 2 team multi-flag CTF match, except instead of flags they were generic scientists from HL1 single player. each team represented a corporation (sort of a prefiguring of TF2 - two fictional over-the-top evil faceless corporations). your base had your scientists in it and their lab equipment. the object of the game was to capture enemy scientists and destroy their lab equipment while preventing the enemy from doing the same to you. the more scientists and in-tact lab equipment your team had, the faster your team could research new weapons and passive benefits - faster spawn time, more armor, etc. research paths were voted on by the entire team. the game was awesome not only for the unique concept but for the unique, zany weapons you could research - a low-frequency sound gun that would stun enemies by causing them to vomit uncontrollably, dual-wield four-barrel SMG pistols, tiny radios that would play static and annoying music that you could hide in the enemy's lab to degrade their research speed, and of course the briefcase melee weapon. one of the most fun and unique mods i've ever played.

i remember science and industry looked really fun and i wanted to give it a shot but it was dead by the time i heard of it. this is well before steam even came out IIRC. TFC still has a few pub servers left but as you can imagine it's pretty slim pickings

a few months ago i tried to play some wolfenstein: enemy territory and i got on thsi server that was ostensibly full, with two teams going at it. there were all kinds of unique names with clan tags and stuff. anyway i slowly realized that like almost all the players were bots, playing endlessly, night and day, in this crazy accelerated deathmatch with almost no human intervention. then i joined a non bot server and it was six sad sounding dudes trying to do a msision or something
