I think if you transplanted somehow the soul consciousness and personality of a housecat onto a human it would probably be me or the average human. Think of all the cats and really any animal that dies on a daily basis, and also consider insects if your brain is big enough. Then you start to finally understand, life and death are only significant if you believe in religion and think of humans as something more than animals. As far as the material world goes, they're just not.
