The last time I read anything Marvel was probably around the time Ultimates was being launched.

I have read parts of Whedon's Astonishing X-men, some random Spiderman's here or there, a bunch of old poo poo, some Ultimate crap, but really not much.

 Gillen/McKelvie's run on Young Avengers.

It's mostly self-contained and doesn't intersect much with the broader Marvel Universe (outside of Kid Loki being turned into Sexy Teen Loki, I think?), so it's not so much a jumping-on point.

But it's very good and beautiful and clever.
