Problem description: I first noticed that (out of the blue but see for recent changes) on any site with a built in image viewer, that clicking on an image thumbnail would open the image within the webpage, but then immediately redirect the open tab to the file directory for that image. Later it became apparent that the same applied to any weblink that should normally open in a new tab. On certain sites either of these becomes incessantly annoying. Attempted fixes: I checked Chrome's settings for anything that seemed at all relevant to the issue, and found gently caress all. I did a restart and then an uninstall/reinstall of Chrome, and the issue persisted as before. Recent changes: I installed the chrome version of this which was supposed to affect Chrome's handling of images (just to open .tiff files). It didn;t work for it's stated purpose and the issue started occuring around then, but not immediately. I assumed that this was the problem and uninstalled this first, but the issue kept on even after its uninstall. -- Operating system: Windows 8, 64-bit System specs: HP, Laptop, B8E27AV, Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3217U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 4GB Location: United States I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

I'd try uninstalling Chrome and installing it to a new directory.
