White only has an advantage because pawns can move two spaces on the first move. This rule was added much later than chess's invention. If pawns only ever moved one space, there would likely be no first move advantage. But then chess would be boring.

But then chess would be boring. wrong first move advantage in chess is similar to first move advantage in tic tac toe, it has nothing to do with pawns moving two steps also chess with no two-step moves is still good and not all chess variants have it anyway

if you think first move advantage is only because of a pawn moving 2 spaces you are probably playing a low level of chess where openings don't matter but comment on strategy anyway this is a thread for open discussion even for bad ideas
