I want to find that video clip from this movie that was about like Prague or Poland in the late 1800s but anyways this guy is running this steam engine at a factory and one of the executives is doing something like sleeping with his daughter, they get in a fight, and something really bad happens involving the drive belt. (I think it was "The Promised Land", 1975) Wait why am I in AI now? Three-Phase fucked around with this message at 01:29 on Mar 1, 2015 |

Mine. Or actually the Subaru EJ series, specifically the turbo variants. Noisy as a tractor on start up, with the unequal length headers they have that distinctive Subaru Rumbletm, makes a good amount of power, and has a huge aftermarket. It's been around forever, and is finally being put out to pasture (slowly) with the introduction of FA and FB Subaru motors, but it has a great run, and has definitely left it's mark in automotive history. It's very much a love-hate relation, and oh boy, do they have personality, but when everything comes together and you put your foot down, it's heaven. Other favorites are numerous, but among them is the previously mentioned Honda's F20c, the marvel of engineering that is the Veyron w16, and Nissan's angry wookie, the VQ series.

I'm a sucker for the Wankel, rotors forever. Piston engine wise, I like anything with 5 or 6 cylinders in a straight line. 4 is acceptable if it likes to rev and sounds good and/or is turbocharged. Honorable mention to the SBC and all its descendants

Allison C-20s are the most "common" (in the most rare sense of the word) turboshafts I've seen in cars. My own favourite has got to be the Volvo B18/B20. Familiarity breeds favorability.

Allison 250, or more recently Rolls-Royce 250; C-20 is just the variant designation. Matt18001 posted:I'd put a PT6 in a car if a transmission existed that could make it work. The PT6 is an absolutely incredible engine. In fact, I would say it is among the best two or three engines of all time, and a very strong case can be made that it is THE best, bar none.
