Does 'struggling to survive' also include carrying around a Fat Man and launching mini-nukes at innocent merchants

in a crowded bar an rear end in a top hat with a fedora sits in earshot of everyone. Psss.. hey you come here "hey buddy, i know you just walked about 2 blocks to get to this ramshackle populated city... and well i know that you see the devastation of the nuclear war all around you....hell i just met you off the street not five seconds ago but you look like the kind of guy a man like me can trust. " i am just gonna go ahead and say it, there is a nuclear bomb in the middle of this glimmer of rebuilt civilization and i want you to use this key, the only key, to blow it up for the amusement of my boss" i will handsomely reward you for it. *remembers when you had to do smaller quests to build up reputation before being asked to detonate nuclear bombs by strangers* *quits game*

Humboldt Squid posted:I like fallout a lot but I really wish they'd get rid of the stupid "tribals" idea. Also the funnest part of the games is always in the beginning where you're struggling to survive they should make the whole game that. I got Fallout 2 the day it came out and was immediately bummed how much the game sucked when it dropped me in a tribal maze thing. I had to force myself to boot it back up and play through it. Then I got to the first town, and the game better... then I got to The Den and the game got great. All in all I'd agree with you, but it does make the transition from the tribal poo poo -> every single person is on sci-fi drugs more jarring. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Myron is the best companion in the franchise. serious norman posted:I tried to play Fallout II but got bored very quickly Did you make it to the second town? The game doesn't start for real until then.

Yeah Fallout 2 has a really really tiresome and bad intro. I almost quit the game as well but since I had heard goons rave about it I stuck with it and sure enough, it got a lot more fun a few hours in and by the end I loved the game I never did play the original Fallout or Fallout:Tactics though

Newest fallout to take place in Iowa. Finally we get our due.

# ? Mar 1, 2015 22:05 |
Fallout 2 has a bad intro, but if you build The One True Build with max agility small frame etc., you just breeze through it. Ignore all the creatures, get the bomb, blast it open, talk your way out of fighting the idiot, then start the game for real. that stupid temple takes me maybe 5 minutes. It's regrettable but it's basically a straight line to the finish and you're free to ignore basically the entire thing.

Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game. I was struggling, out of stimpacks, broken leg, when I came upon a merchant in the sewer. "Sweet! A traveling merchant! I'll be able to buy some stimpacks... Oh I can only afford like one out of the twenty she's got..." Then I realized hey I'll just kill her and take her poo poo, what's gonna happen the world is hosed! And I shot her in the face and took her 20 stimpacks and went on my way. In Skyrim all the merchants have their stocks out in the ether somewhere. My immersion.

Can't wait to find out if it still uses the Gamebryo engine. Even better if Bethesda spends all their money to have a celebrity give three minutes of dialogue.

The biggest issue is that the first person FO games have had the worst imaginable combat that has ever been conceived for an RPG, I mean it was worse than the first two FO games that's how bad it was. I could see it being fun of they miraculously make competent shooter mechanics and remove the godawful joke that is VATS but lmao who am I kidding. NV was at least worth playing for great quests, characters and writing, but FO3 was a pointless slog, so it's obvious Bethesda won't be able to satisfy on either front. Like at least Skyrim had halfway decent combat, and personally a fantasy setting allows for more varied environments and out there poo poo. But exploring holes in the ground and exploded buildings gets old so fast.

Solution: give enemies more HP and allow them to 1-shot you. Also their attacks ignore armor as an added gently caress YOU.
