The Last Man on Earth is the tale of a man named Phil Miller, the only human left on Earth (as far as he knows). It's an ambitious project, to say the least; TV shows live and die on the strength of the relationship of its characters and their growth, as well as how an audience can relate and empathize with the situations that are presented to them. Thankfully, early reviews of the show are overwhelmingly positive:

However, I do recommend that you avoid reviews before watching tonight's premier, as most reviewers are spoiling an important (though, admittedly, quite predictable) plot point. If you already know what I'm referring to, please refrain from posting about it in the thread until after the premiere.

The Cast and Crew
While a TV show OP generally provides a breakdown of the cast and what they've been in, TLMoE doesn't really serve the template very well. Instead, here's the important players both in front of and behind the camera:

Will Forte

Forte is an absurdly funny comic genius, with an emphasis on the absurd. You likely know him from his time on SNL, where he played characters such as The Falconer, Greg Stink, and MacGruber during his decade-long stint as a cast member. You may also know him as the voice of a teenage Abraham Lincoln in Clone High. Or maybe you've seen his guest appearances on 30 Rock as a Jenna Maroney impersonator and future Mr. Jenna Maroney, or his recurring role as Ted Turner on Conan. Finally, if you're one of those artsy-fartsy types, you've probably seen his dramatic side in the Academy Award nominated film Nebraska. In TLMoE, not only is Forte the only face in front of the camera, he also wrote the first two episodes of the show.

Kristen Schaal

Kristen Schaal joined the cast in the second episode as Carol Pilbasian, the last woman on earth (as far as she knows). Unlike Phil, who let himself forget cultural and societal norms such as not pooping in pools or bathing in tequila, Carol stuck strongly to them, going so far as to convince Phil to marry her so that they could have sex. You likely know Schaal from her voice acting as Louise on Bob's Burgers or Mabel in Gravity Falls, but she's also known for her (admittedly insufferable) character Hazel Wassername on 30 Rock.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller

(Image shamelessly stolen from this excellent Buzzfeed profile piece)

They've cloned historical figures and dropped them into a high school drama. They've made a sequel to an action movie that was about... making a sequel to an action movie. They took a project that, by all means, should have been a glorified toy commercial and turned it into one of the funniest, most heartfelt, and enjoyable animated films of all time. They directed the first two episodes of the show, and their support is probably the main reason the show was put into production in the first place. While their involvement past this point is uncertain, they are known for offering uncredited rewrites on projects they're involved with, and probably have done so for at least the first two episodes.

Emily Spivey

Emily Spivey is a comedy writer who spent almost a decade on the SNL writing staff before leaving to create her own show, the underrated Up All Night. She's penned the third episode of TLMoE and, given her experience, appears to be the behind-the-scenes show runner alongside Forte.

The Rest of the Writers
Writers are hardly the most publicly visible or acknowledged members of a show crew, but from what I can tell the writing team includes Andy Bobrow (Malcolm in the Middle, Community), Erik Durbin (American Dad, Don't Trust the B in Apt 23), and Tim McAuliffe (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Up All Night). These guys are the ones that are going to be responsible for ensuring that the show's concept is not only sustainable but also enjoyable; with the credits they have under their collective belts I'm quite optimistic. You can follow them on Twitter at @LastManWriters.

Finally, a quick (mod-requested) note. TLMoE is a comedy and, as such, is likely to contain several inaccurate depictions of how an apocalypse would affect the world. No one cares. MST3K rules here, guys: repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax". The same goes for anyone planning on writing long effort posts on what you would do/how you would live if you were Phil Miller. At best no one cares, and at worst you'll end up on the goons_TXT Twitter account. That said, I'm sure we can all sit down and enjoy one of--if not THE--most original television shows of all time responsibly.

The Last Man on Earth airs on Fox on Sundays at 9:00PM EST, after Brooklyn 99 at 9:30PM EST after Family Guy.

Also, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are doing an AMA about the show on Reddit right now: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2xlhyz/we_are_phil_lord_and_chris_miller_everything/

[Edit: Even if you hate Reddit check this out, they give great answers and are hilarious. Answered a bunch of questions, too!]

When he hung up the picture of his family it looked like Jason Sudeikis may have been in there. Maybe his brother or something?

PEARL GROWLS "TAKE OFF THAT SHIRT, STEVEN." I COMPLY, REVEALING THE FULL LENGTH SHIRT TATTOO. PEARL RETREATS INTO HER GEM, DEFEATED.
Yeah this is pretty much exactly how I'd handle this situation...

Definitely Sudeikis, it might just a cameo, but hope we get some flashbacks with him.

Pretty much this, yeah. And Hollywood's right to do so, everything they touch turns to gold.

[Edit: Guess I should add Kristen Schaal to the OP?]
