It’s the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline! GDT rules are in effect which means that drinking is allowed and even encouraged, especially if you’re watching the Sportsnet cast for some reason. Live coverage starts at 8am, so today is great for staying in bed and basically doing absolutely nothing. So far, the trades have been pretty interesting with what at least feels like more first round picks moving than in previous years. I’m not sure how we got what looks like a seller’s market this year, as a handful of bad teams are giving away anything that isn’t nailed down in an attempt to get the best lottery odds for one of the best draft classes in a while As always, most trades will likely first appear on twitter. The best and most connected are Darren Dreger: @DarrenDreger Bob MacKenzie: @TSNBobMacKenzie Pierre LeBrun: @Real_ESPNLeBrun Renaud Lavoie: @renlavoietva Elliotte Friedman: @FriedgeHNIC And, of course, the army of each team’s respective beat writers who may have any number of real and imagined leads. If you’re looking for information on the “he’s a top prospect, I swear” your team just picked up give a glance to Corey Pronman: @CoreyPronman Craig Cutsance: @CraigCutsance Sean LaFortune: @SeanLafortune Brock Otten @BrockOtten And probably some other guys I’m forgetting. Also here’s TSN’s trade tracker, which looks neat: http://www.tsn.ca/tradecentre/trades The closest we have to Capgeek is NHL Numbers. Click on a team logo to bring up that team’s chart. In Canada, you can watch on TV on either TSN or Sportsnet. The Sportsnet lineup looks absolutely dire so I don’t know why you would want to do that. In past years the NHL website has picked up the TSN cast for free, so that should be available to the Americans here. Also, TSN usually has a window you can open that’s only their trade tracker and the audio stream, if you just want something in the background. Wikipedia is good for keeping up on which future picks belong to which team: 2015 2016

I feel like Tampa is going to be disappointed in Coburn, who really isn't even that great at moving the puck in his own end. then again he doesn't have to be the the #1 guy so maybe that helps e: with all the talk about the value of draft picks and first rounders, keep in mind the Rangers are probably slated to draft late in the 1st round where those picks start being a lot more equivalent to 2nd and 3rd round picks than to what we think of first round picks. If the Rangers trade a bunch of 1st round picks like they have but consistently are slated to draft in the 28-30 range, it's not *that* big of a deal, especially if they can snag some other picks to make up for it. That said, they need to snag some other picks to make up for it Levitate fucked around with this message at 13:24 on Mar 2, 2015 |

Man, if Toronto does not get at least one of those centers and/or dmen in the draft I'm fairly confident I'll build some sort of uncontrolled aggression towards blue maple leaves. Trade anyone over 25. Except Kessel or JVR unless their return are like 3 picks and a pony. Stretch Marx fucked around with this message at 13:25 on Mar 2, 2015 |

I was gifted a Coburn jersey in his first season as a Flyer's because he figured to be on the team for years to come. I finally got him to sign it at the carnival yesterday on his last day as a Flyer's. I hope he does well for the Lighting's

Are there any 1st round picks belonging to dumb GMs still in play? Phaneuf and Bozak need new forever homes.

If by 3 the Leafs are free of Bozak, Lupul, Polak and Phaneuf without any kind of substantial detriment in return today will be a great success and will almost make up for the festering shitpile that is this season. Bonus points if Komarov goes too because holy hell the impotent rage would be amazing.

This is probably a case where you have to role "years of control" into the cost Boston paid, since he hasn't even hit RFA yet. His AHL scoring rate seems good, I guess. Also - he's the guy with the hosed up hand, right?

I don't hate the trade for the Bruins. They still have the second rounds picks they got from the Islanders. Connolly is younger than I thought too, for some reason I thought he was already 24 or 25.
