Welcome, everyone, to another thunderous game of BattleCON! Today, we have a crazy, time-and-space-warping match between two brand-new characters! In Flight 1, we have Thessala Three, one of the elite shock troopers of Willat's Division 13. She'll be played by Dire Wombat! In Flight 2, we have Welsie Acktern, the Chaon out of time. She'll be played by Androc! Can Thessala shift her way up into victory, or will Welsie keep her trapped in a stable time loop? Can Welsie keep her best moves in play, or will Thessala come in close and tear Welsie apart? It's all up to you two. Give it your all! Players: Send me your starting discards and Finishers. You'll be starting on spaces 3 and 5. We'll also be using the Force Gauge, if that's all right. I'll put a guide to how the Force Gauge works in the post below. Best of luck to both of you! So, the Force Gauge is actually really straightforward. Each of you will start with 2 Force, and you'll gain 1 after the Recycle phase every Beat. When you drop below 7 Life, you'll gain 2 instead. As part of your ante, you may ante 2 Force to Overload, granting you one of the following effects: Stun Guard 2, Soak 1, +1 Power to your first attack, and +2 Priority. The rules say this: Rulebook posted:You can overload for the same effect multiple times, but never for the same effect more than once. I'm taking that to mean each time you Overload, you have to pick something different. Once you've burned through all four, you can't Overload again. Luckily, you've still got options for that extra Force. If you hold on to 7 Force, you can Pulse at the end of a beat, which is actually different from the Special Action. This Pulse lets you move yourself or an opponent up to 3 spaces. Pretty powerful! Finally, you can play your Force Gauge Action card instead of your Style in your attack pair. You have two options here: A: If your Force is greater than or equal to your life total, then you activate your Finisher on whatever side it's on. Once you do this, you lose your Action card. The base it was paired with then cycles normally. B: If your Force is less than your life total, you gain an extra Force, and then you can choose to flip your Finisher over if you want to. You perform your base as normal (but without a Style), then both cards go in your Discard 1. This means that you don't lose your Action card if you do this. So, to recap, you've got the following options at your disposal: 1) At ante, you can spend 2 Force to Overload and get a simple bonus. 2) As your Style, you can play your Force Gauge Action card, either engaging your Finisher or switching it and gaining a Force. 3) At End of Beat, you can spend 7 Force to Nu-Pulse, moving yourself or an opponent up to 3 spaces. Quick question. During the On Hit phase of Welsie's attack, she gained a Recursor Counter. Discordant increases her Power for each Recursor Counter her attack has, but is that only at Reveal or for the entire battle? What do you guys think? Right now, I think the Power of the attack only increases during Reveal, but the wording's kind of vague.
|
# ? Mar 8, 2015 20:55 |
|
Since the wording is specifically 'on reveal,' I think your interpretation is correct, though it would be a little less ambiguous if it was written 'gains' instead of 'has.'

I meant to ante 2 Force to boost my power to stop exactly this from happening. Too late now, I guess.

I'm really sorry about that. I've been very slapdash with the whole anteing stuff. I think the best solution is to make sure both of you have passed before I move on to the reveal.
