He is a bad cartoonist with reprehensible views, yet those views are hidden behind being "topical" and whatever other methods he employs to not be easily identified as racist by the general public. I would say that removing any air of subtlety and going for frank "I am a horrible, racist person" in cartoons where he's at least tried to mask it as something topical can be indeed pretty funny. Not always, but it can be.
