As a lad, I called the Sierra help line several times while playing Hi-Res Adventure #2: The Wizard and the Princess. (Back when it was basically just Ken Williams.) They gave hints, but they were very good hints and if you were frustrated they'd hand you the solution. My parents were not real happy with me when they found out I'd been toll-calling California.
